In episode 5, we focus on another critical skill: effective budgeting. Effective budgeting is the allocation of resources in a strategic manner that results in the successful implementation of board policy.  Have you heard the idioms? "Budget is policy"  "Follow the money" or "Put your money, where your mouth is!" Each of these expressions, in its own way, refers to the same thing. Pointing out that the best indicator of the priorities of an institution is evidenced by the budget decisions that have been made to each program area.  This discussion covers the construction and preparation of a budget as well as strategic resource allocation.
