Zarzuela romanzas are usually in the repertory of the Opera singers and this is how many people are familiar with the gender, despite not having had the opportunity of attending a Zarzuela performance never. 
Zarzuela has a good number of characteristics that put it apart from the Opera and that of course is an extraordinary way to approach this Spanish gender.
