Several Rwandan soldiers have been arrested after residents of a slum in the country's capital, Kigali, raised alarms that they raped women as they enforced a nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
According to the residents of Nyarutarama, the soldiers will beat up male residents and steal from them.
One of the victims told journalists that on 26 March an armed soldier forcefully entered her home and beat up her husband, when she tried intervene the soldier raped her in front of the husband.
