Some civilizations are remembered for their artistic or intellectual achievements. Some stand out for their political systems or the sheer scale of their empires. But there are a few who seem to stand out almost entirely because of their prowess as warriors. We were intrigued enough by that phenomenon that we thought we'd take a tour of a few of our favorite examples of these societies and their worlds.
In this episode, we make our first stop of the series in the ancient Peloponnese. Controversial in our time and in theirs, today we delve into the culture of one of history's quintessential warrior societies: the Ancient Spartans.
