The mission of the Med Control Monthly podcast is to provide the latest updates, information, and trends to and on behalf of the EMS agencies and hospitals of Oakland County, Michigan. This episode was recorded on March 10, 2022. During this episode, we welcome back Bonnie Kincaid, the OCMCA Executive Director, as well as John Theut, the Quality Improvement Coordinator. As always, Bonnie and John are here to provide you with updates about your EMS system. We are also joined by our EMS Medical Director, Dr. Steven McGraw. Dr. McGraw is here to address the most recent decision to remove ketamine from ALL OCMCA EMS protocols. In case you haven’t heard, the use of ketamine by Oakland County EMS providers is on pause until further notice. Dr. McGraw will walk us through the reasons ketamine was introduced to our system in the first place, as well as the process and reasoning that led to the current decision to remove it from our treatment protocols for the time being.
