Blindness is not a disability. It is an opportunity to see things differently. That’s the lesson Paul Fordham learned from his father, a classically trained pianist who who was blind from birth. It is a lesson that has served him well in the 18 years he has worked to end homelessness in Marin County, California.
What does it mean to change? Are we invested in our own views or open to learning new things? Do we see limitations as destiny or are we willing to being surprised? When challenges arise, how can we come together from a place of values rather than fear? “Despite different challenges and abilities,” says Paul Fordham, “We all have the capacity to grow.”
Paul Fordham is the co-CEO of Homeward Bound of Marin where he plays an integral role in fundraising, social enterprise development, program oversight, and strategic planning.
