Do you recall getting called up to the blackboard to answer a math question in front of the class.. I certainly do.. and it was my biggest fear.. My mind would go blank.. and my face would go red.. And so, not surprising, Math for me became a four letter word by high school.

And yet.. all these years later.. the stereotypes of girls and math persist such as the myth that men are better at math and science while women are better at nurturing careers.

To lead the way, I’ll be speaking to Elaine Griggs an American national award winning math and Computer Science teacher, who was a working mathematician before teaching. Elaine has also worked at the policy level in Computer Science with other educators in Washington DC presenting to congress the importance of computer science and CS education for ALL.

Founder of the k12stemclub.com, Elaine states clearly her mission: increasing availability of quality instruction to ALL students with a Focus on Access to under-represented students. “My goal for your child is to use their imagination and creativity to develop their own ideas, inventions and become life-long CONFIDENT learners.”
