This is not your typical postpartum story, but rather a refreshing outlier. Beth went on a girl's weekend at 6w postpartum while her husband cared for the baby. She leaned on me throughout her fourth trimester to help manage anxiety, maintain her senses of self, and to get all her questions answered, big and small, without judgment or having to go down the google rabithole. So today, I ask Beth, who now has a little space from these early days to tell us a bit about how she came to understand herself as she did, how she navigated all of this and remained true to herself in the early days postpartum.

  • The movie that understands the secret shame of motherhood, The Atlantic by Shirley Li (Beth mentions this movie and article in this episode. I have since watched and read it. Very interesting perspective. Might be a touch read/watch for some in the early days to years of parenthood. But its an important and valuable perspective).
