2:2 As you know, the many things we suffered before, and even the way we were abused in Philippi, did not intimidate or distract us in any way. We were very bold in our God to communicate the news of what he has so wonderfully accomplished in Christ, in the face of much contradiction. (The Greek word for the Good News is the word 1euangelion, which is the well done announcement! It is the news of what God has so wonderfully accomplished! The gospel is a declaration. We have made it an ‘if-then’ proposition. But the ‘if-then’ proposition is a catch 22 situation; which is a ‘no-win’ dilemma or paradox. Often these situations are such that solving one part of a problem only creates another, which ultimately leads back to the original problem. A situation in which a desired outcome or solution is impossible to attain because of a set of inherently illogical rules or conditions. For so long evangelism has been beg, coerce, bribe or scare, now it is no longer telling people what they must do but what God has done and believes about them!)
