Telling Future Generations is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Illinois and is designed to ignite God's people with a passion and to equip them in telling future generations about God and His Word.

Pastor Robert Munger in the 1950's wrote a little book called, "My Heart, Christ's Home."

Today on our radio program, we will continue reading excerpts from this little book that points to a BIG TRUTH that the Lord Jesus does not come to just indwell us to be with us, but to actively day by day, make our heart Christ's home, until our heart is a reflection of the heart of Christ!

John Chapter 14:23 says, "If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode (our home) with him."

The Lord Jesus tells us in John Chapter 14 this amazing truth that the moment we BELIEVE in JESUS, we RECEIVE JESUS into our hearts!

The purpose of the indwelling presence of Christ through the Holy Spirit is not to just be 'with us,' but also to actively sanctify us by making our heart Christ's home out of a love and obedience heart response to the love of Jesus!

Before the Lord Jesus went to the cross, Jesus explained to His disciples that He had promised gifts that He would give to them after Jesus went back to be with the Father in heaven.

John Chapter 14 describes these three specific promised gifts of power, answered prayer, and presence--which are not only for the disciples of Jesus back then, but for us today who have also believed on the Lord Jesus.

On the night before Jesus went to the cross, the disciples were not only full of questions, but expressed cries of the heart, like a child does with their parent.

The heart cries of the disciples were two-fold: "Lord, show us the way" and "Show us the Father."

Jesus answered His disciples to not only declare to them plainly WHO HE IS and WHY HE CAME, but also point us to our mission, so that others will know the ONLY WAY to the FATHER is through the SON, our Lord Jesus Christ!

It has been said that next to John 3:16, the most often quoted Scripture verses in all of God's Word is John 14:1-3.

These words are some of the most beautiful words of promise and comfort spoken by the Lord Jesus that are not only for His disciples back then, but also for us today!

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, ye may be also" (John 14:1-3).

The love of Jesus is what John Chapter 13 is all about!

On the night before Jesus went to the cross, Jesus not only showed His love to His disciples by washing their feet, but also Jesus reminded His disciples what to do when their love for one another or their love for Jesus fails.

Like the disciples, we also need to remember these same truths for they are for us today.

When our love for one another fails, we must remember the love of Jesus for us.

When our love for Jesus stumbles and fails, we must again remember the love of Jesus!

On the night before Jesus went to the cross, the Lord showered His love upon all of His disciples, but also to three specific individuals that are spotlighted in John Chapter 13.

Whether it was Judas Iscariot, the disciple John or Peter, the only thing that mattered was the answer to a simple question. Are they accepting or rejecting the love of Jesus?

What each person does with the love of Jesus, both then and now, makes all the difference in the world, even an eternal difference!

That night, Jesus set an example before His disciples to show the way that we are to THINK ABOUT OTHERS, SERVE OTHERS, and also LOVE OTHERS, especially those who are our fellow believers in Christ.

During our recent CEF Kramers Concert, a ministry presentation by our CEF staff and our summer missionaries was shared giving an overview of our four ministry highways of outreach this summer, including our nine day Training School, 5-Day Clubs, Fair ministries, and our new Soccer Party Clubs using the theme of the 5 colors of the Wordless Book!

This year, our summer ministry fundraiser was hosting the Kramers for a special concert of praise and worship to the Lord!

During the concert, our CEF staff shared a summer ministry report of our upcoming summer ministry outreach, including through our camp ministry at Camp Good News!

Also, at the event, we had the privilege of honoring the life of Bill Wright, who recently went home to be with the Lord. Bill served over four decades with the ministry of CEF of Illinois and Camp Good News, serving on the camp committee, the CEF State Board, and building many, if not most, of the building constructions at Camp Good News through all the many years!

There is a lot of misinformation and unbiblical teaching concerning Mary, the mother of Jesus.

However, the New Testament has much to teach us about Mary, including these three things:

Mary needed a Savior like everybody else.
Mary had the heart of a mother with a great capacity to love and feel great pain.
Mary was quick to turn to prayer and praise to the Lord, trusting in the Lord, even when she didn't fully understand.

God gave MOTHER's HEARTS a great capacity to not only love their children, but also to feel great pain for their children so that a mother's heart is sovereignly moved by the Lord to persistently pray for their children.

Today, we look at a Biblical example from the story of Hannah in the Old Testament that teaches us as mothers' to pray persistently out of a heart of love for our families and our children today!

When you think of the 'Wordless Book,' the 'Romans Road, Gospel tracts, and the 'Bridge Illustration,' -- what do all of these have in common?

They are all various methods to share with others the Good News of Christ!

Methods of sharing the Gospel are many, but the message of the Gospel is singular, because there is only ONE GOSPEL MESSAGE!

Methods are man-made, but the Gospel is God-made because the Gospel belongs to God alone!

Whenever we share the Gospel through whatever our chosen method, we can trust that the Gospel through the proclamation of God's Word, alone has the power to save!

Romans Chapter 1:16,"For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation, for everyone who believes."

Can you Gospel children too much?

What is the connection between the Gospel and spiritual growth?

In this program, we will first look at why is it important to share the Gospel with believers, especially with children, even after they have trusted in the Lord Jesus as their Savior.

And second, we will look at how all spiritual growth teaching for believers is rooted and grounded in the Gospel. In reality, all spiritual growth is simply an application of how we should now live in Christ and for Christ, because of the Gospel!

In Luke Chapter 16, in the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus, it was clear that the Rich Man did not know how to get to heaven.

Twice, the Rich Man pleaded for someone to go and tell his brethren so that they would not be like him and end up in hell! Yet, the same answer is repeated twice to the Rich Man, that all a person needs to understand how to get to heaven is found in God's Word.

The question is not what the Rich Man did know, but what the Rich Man should have known, because from cover to cover, the overall message of the Bible tells us how sinful man can be in a right relationship with Holy God and not go to Hell, but how to go to Heaven, all because of faith in Christ, the Promised One alone.

In Luke Chapter 16, through the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus, the Lord Jesus dispels four myths about death:

Myth 1: The teaching of universalism at death

Myth 2: The teaching of annihilation at death

Myth 3: The teaching of a second chance for the unbeliever after death

Myth 4: The teaching of purgatory for the believer after death

What was the reason why Jesus told this story/parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus?

It is because the Lord Jesus wants us to know not only the reality of heaven, but also the reality of hell for all those who refuse to hear His Word and trust in Christ alone for their salvation.

This one parable depicted in three parts, as told by our Lord Jesus, was to drive home three main points:

One sinner has GREAT VALUE!
One sinner is worth the GREATEST SACRIFICE!
And over one sinner who repents and believes on the Lord Jesus, there is GREAT REJOICING!

This pointed parable reminds us that we were THE ONE for whom Christ came and died for our sins, so that we can be no longer LOST, but FOUND in a right relationship with Him!

But also, this parable points us to now be THE ONE -- like a shepherd searching for his lost sheep, a diligent seeker looking for their lost coin, or a compassionate parent longing for their lost son--to go and seek out others so that they too would be no longer LOST, but FOUND in Christ!

How can people in one moment be waving Palm Branches shouting out to the Lord Jesus, "Hosanna, Hosanna," but then less than a week later... some of those very same people may have been part of the crowd shouting, "Crucify Him, Crucify Him!"

Why the sudden turn? Many of the people back then, and even people yet today, do not understand WHO JESUS IS and WHY JESUS CAME.

Christ came to SET US FREE from our greatest problem which is SIN,--both past, present, and one day in the future. As Galatians Chapter 5:1 states, it was for FREEDOM that, "Christ hath made us free."

One of the key texts for the Biblical basis for reaching children is found in Matthew Chapter 18.

This passage is one of the foundation texts that the Lord used in the life of the Rev. Jesse Irvin Overholtzer, the founder of Child Evangelism Fellowship almost 90 years ago in 1937.

Matthew Chapter 18:1-14 are powerful verses that continue to build one upon another until the Lord Jesus reaches the climax of unveiling the will of the Father concerning one of these little ones saying, "Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish."

The Biblical Basis for reaching children does not begin in the New Testament, but in the opening pages of the Bible in Genesis and throughout the Old Testament.

Three key passages found in the Old Testament are Deuteronomy Chapter 6, Judges Chapter 2, and Psalm Chapter 78.

The LORD GOD's desire for the children, including for the future generations yet to be born, is to KNOW GOD, LOVE GOD, and WALK WITH GOD all of their days and to pass on their knowledge of the true and living God and how to be in a right relationship with Him, to each succeeding generation.

There are many methods in how to share the Gospel, but there is only ONE GOSPEL MESSAGE which never changes because it is rooted and grounded in God's Word.

If you were to summarize the Gospel message, it would rest upon FOUR FOUNDATIONAL TRUTHS:

1) Who God Is

2) Who Man Is

3) Who Jesus Is and What Jesus Did

4) And What Jesus Provides... for all those who by God's Grace Alone, through Faith Alone, in Christ Alone trusts in Christ for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life!

The bottom-line message of the Gospel is simply this: The Gospel is God's righteous way to save unrighteousness sinners, so that sinful man can be reconciled to Holy God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

This is the Gospel Foundational message of all of Scripture!

Over 160 years ago in the mid-1880's, an unknown minister shared with the Rev. Charles Spurgeon a three-leaf booklet that contained only three colors which reminded him of the precious truths of the Gospel of Christ.

Over time, that three-leaf booklet developed into a full, 5-color booklet, known as the Wordless Book:

1) GOLD which stands for God and the street of gold in heaven.

2) DARK for sinwhich points us to the darkness within each of our hearts.

3) RED for the precious blood of Christ shed for our sins.

4) CLEAN for the forgiveness of our sins through faith alone in Christ.

The Rev. Jesse Irvin Overholtzer, founded the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship in 1937.

Because of Mr. O's burden and passion for reaching children, he was also known as the, 'Modern Weeping Prophet.' Every time he spoke of children, he was compelled to speak of the children's need for Christ and their need to hear the clear teaching of the milk of the Word... even as young children.

His conviction of reaching children for Christ led him to speak for the children, to pray for the children, and do all he could to mobilize and train others to teach children because as Mr. O stated, "... the Gospel is the best news of all... it's the best news of all," including for all the children of the world!

Wow what an evening!

John Chapter 15 is a key chapter where Jesus tells His disciples what we are to be doing while Jesus is physically absent from this earth. Jesus is working, the Father is working, and the Holy Spirit is working.

What is our work that we are to be doing until Jesus comes again?

It is simply this, to abide in Jesus!

Jesus said in John Chapter 15:4-5, "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

It is out of this abiding/dependent relationship with Jesus how we are enabled through Jesus, to bring forth much fruit for God in our lives!

Failed fruit is the story-line of not only Ezekiel Chapter 15, but of the story of Israel.

From the beginning, the Lord called Israel to not only be His People, but to be a Faithful People to produce forth fruit for Him and for others, to point the nations to the Lord--but Israel failed. They forgot their purpose and persisted in their sin of disobedience.

However, the story does not end with Ezekiel Chapter 15, but through Israel's failure, it points us straight to the One who is the True Vine, the Faithful Vine, who is Christ.

The bottom-line is this: because Jesus is FAITHFUL, God's People who are connected into an abiding relationship with Him, will be FRUITFUL! Because He is Faithful, we are Fruitful, praise the Lord!

If Noah, Daniel, and Job were alive today, would their righteousness save and deliver unrighteous people living in the land?

In Ezekiel Chapter 14, God answers His own question and points to one eternal truth: There is no one who is righteous and there is no one who can save or deliver anyone, let alone themselves.

If that were the end of the story, this would not just be disappointed hope, but crushed hope!

But here is the good news... that is not the end of the story!

There is One who can save, which points us to the righteousness and the mercy of God in Christ, who is the Only Righteous One!

Great revivals of people turning their heart to the Lord, do not begin in a vacuum or come from nothing.

Biblically-speaking, revivals only happen when God's people who know the Lord repent of their sin and walk in a right relationship with their God!

Ezekiel Chapter 14 is an amazing chapter that lays bare the problem of idolatry from which all sin stems and then points God's people to the only solution, which is a greater love for God over our love for sin.

Because the Lord Himself has laid hold of His people's hearts, God's people can turn from their sin and turn their heart to the Lord and walk as the Lord's people with their God.

A dual, spiritual 'hot potato' is found in Ezekiel Chapter 13 concerning women who were prophets.

The issue was not that they were 'women' or that these women were 'prophets,' but because these women were false prophets who practiced divination that was totally against God's Word.

In Ezekiel Chapter 13, we see both a vivid WARNING to God's people who participate in such practices, but also a divine PROMISE to deliver His People, giving to us that which we do not deserve, which all points to the Gospel of God's Grace.

On September 10th, a Scripture verse was tweeted out on social media by Erika, the wife of Charlie Kirk, saying simply this, 'Psalm 46:1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.'

This Bible verse was posted at 9:45 am, less than 3 hours before her husband's tragic death in Utah at the college campus.

Psalm 46 has been a comfort to God's people down through the centuries and to this day. However, Psalm 46 is not just an encouragement Psalm, but also a victory degree!

Psalm 46 describes God as being our Refuge in times of trouble and our River of Life whom the world cannot stop or shut off. The climax of Psalm 46 is for God's people to remember that He is the Ruler over all the earth and in the end, God wins the day and He will be exalted in all the earth!

False prophets not only were a problem back in Ezekiel's day, but False Prophets abound today.

These false prophets spew fake news, all because they were fake prophets, and built a fake wall of words to weaken God's people.

Ezekiel Chapter 13 is instructive for us today that help us discern three main ways we can understand False Prophets from True Prophets by applying specific Biblical tests not only found in Ezekiel Chapter 13, but also from the counsel of all of Scripture.

God has given to us, His people, the gift of God's Word, not only so that we would know the Lord and be in a right relationship with Him, but also so that we would depend on God's Word!

Ezekiel Chapter 12 is a great reminder to God's people to help us know how to depend upon God's Word by resting on God's Word, by believing on God's Word, both in whole or in part, and by specifically applying God's Word to our very lives.

God's Word is one of the greatest gift that God has given to His people so that ultimately, we would depend upon the Lord and His Word.

The people in Jerusalem had a problem. God said, they were a 'rebellious house.'

Through the prophet Ezekiel, God wanted to get the people's attention because God knew what His people's answer was to their problem.

God's people, back then, as well as now, need to rightly respond to God's Word immediately. This includes not only having open ears and open hearts to receive God's Word, but also to submit to God's Word as the very Word of God down to the smallest detail.

Ezekiel Chapters '7-Eleven,' contain many Biblical principles that we can pick up like walking through a grocery store aisles that we can place in our spiritual grocery cart and take to heart.

In Ezekiel Chapters 7 and 8, -- God is the God who sees and who knows all things.

In Ezekiel Chapter 9-11, -- God is the God who knows His people by name and marks us out as His people all by His grace!

But God doesn't stop there.

God not only had a plan for His people back then in Ezekiel's day, but also to us today, to be present with His people and make our heart His home. Our God is in the daily business of removing stony hearts and giving us hearts of flesh by His Spirit and making all things new!

Can you imagine finding HOPE in the book of Ezekiel which is filled with prophecies of doom and gloom and days of coming difficulties for God's people?

Yes, we can!

Embedded in Ezekiel Chapter 6, God promised that He would 'save a remnant,' and one day, carry His people back to their promised land.

This is not just a promise for God's People in the Old Testament times back then, this applies to God's People today!

When storms hit and days of difficulties come are way... God has promised His people that He will not only be present with His People and carry them through... but also one day, carry His People home!

Yes, there is hope for God's People, even in times of storm!

Ezekiel's vision of the heavens opened in Chapter 1 is absolutely stunning!

As Ezekiel came near in his vision to the presence of the LORD, he saw the Cherubims, the special class of angels who are the guardians of God. Ezekiel also saw the moving Chariot carrying God's Spirit, turning like a wheel in the center of a wheel!

Don't stop there, because above the created firmament designed by the hand of God Himself, there is a throne. Seated upon the the throne is One who has the appearance of a Man.

Who is this One seated upon the throne?

When we turn to the last book of the Bible, Revelations Chapter 1, and compare it to the prophet Ezekiel's vision in Ezekiel Chapter 1, we do not have to guess. This One seated upon heaven's throne, is none other then our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is the Eternal Son of God!

That means our LORD JESUS is right up there, seated in heaven, and is ruling and reigning over all!

In Ezekiel Chapter 1, God gave to Ezekiel an amazing vision of the heavens opened.

Ezekiel was lifted up to the highest heaven coming near the presence of God and saw with his own eyes the cherubims, God's guardian angels, and God's constantly moving chariot, which was the Spirit of the Lord ever turning and working, like a wheel in the center of a wheel!

This is an amazing vision, but what is the point?

When we are going through difficult times, God wants us to remember that He is present with His people and God is always at work, even in ways we can not see. Recently, Emmanuel Mukasa, the National Director of CEF of Uganda came for a visit here in the USA. Emmanuel came not only for a visit to the state of Illinois, but also to attend the CEF International Conference that was attended by 1,500 CEF staff and volunteers from across the world. Emmanuel Mukasa, the CEF National Director of Uganda in East Central Africa, shares about the wide-open door to reach children for Christ year-round in his country, but especially during the Christmas season by conducting Christmas Party Clubs and also Camp Good News Christmas Camps.

This year, CEF of Illinois is partnering together with CEF of Uganda in raising $10,000 to send 500 children to a Christmas Camp at $20 per child. Our goal is to help send as many children in Uganda to camp to hear the true meaning of Christmas, which is all about the Lord Jesus Christ!

Chuck Coleson of Prison Fellowship once gave a humorous observation about the state of the church saying, "The church is a lot like Noah's Ark. The stench on the inside would be unbearable, if it weren't for the storms on the outside."

Is this true? Is this the point of the church to just hunker down together and hang on tight?

The mission of the church that is described for us here in Acts Chapter 2, includes not only the evangelizing ministry of the church, but also the enfolding ministry of the church.

The church's enfolding ministry, has two components: 1) 'Next Steps,' leading to a public profession of repentance toward sin and believing/saving faith towards Christ; and then 2) 'Baptism.'

The doctrine of baptism can be a 'spiritual hot potato' which divides believers and churches into different denominational camps. However, it is important to understand even here in Acts 2, that baptism is described as that which takes place after salvation (i.e., faith towards Christ). Baptism is a beautiful picture of an outward sign which points to an internal reality of what God has done for us in salvation!

Acts 2 includes the first recorded sermon in the New Testament after Christ's death and resurrection.

This message proclamation is given in the midst of both wonder and mocking, reminding us that every time the Gospel message is given, we should expect different and even opposing responses.

Where in the New Testament does the Christmas story begin?

Interestingly, the Christmas story does not begin in the New Testament with the Gospels, but rather in the Old Testament, particularly in one of the major prophetic books in the Bible, the book of Isaiah.

The book of Isaiah is like a Bible in a book with 66 chapters and two major divisions, including the first 39 chapters emphasizing the PROBLEM of SIN and our need for the Savior, while the remaining 27 chapters focus on the PROMISE of the SAVIOR, who would one day come to take care of our ultimate problem of sin and death, and for those who trust in Him, make all things new!

The Book of Isaiah is also known as, 'The Fifth Gospel,' because it contains so many prophetic references to the life of Christ, including His birth, life, and death.

Where do spiritual revivals come from that sweep across a nation and how do they occur?

Actually, we do not have to guess, because not only are spiritual revivals given to us by the direct hand of the LORD. God has given to us Biblical principles that spiritual revivals are grounded in and flow out from.

The book of 2 Chronicles, from a birds-eye view, gives us four major principles for spiritual revivals that are rooted in the spiritual revival key verse of 2 Chronicles 7:14 which says, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Overlooking the town of Plymouth, Massachusetts’ tucked away on top of a hill, is a large statute dedicated to our forefathers, the Pilgrims, that most Americans today know nothing about.

The monument dedicated to the Pilgrims was built in 1891 over a 70-year period and has the center statue rising 81 feet high, with four other statues connected to it and flowing out from it. This ‘Liberty Matrix,’ depicts the principles of liberty for not only the founding of America, but also the saving of America.

Have you ever wondered why there can be two two different views of the world that is happening both at the same time?

Psalm 2 tells us the answer by pointing us to the ultimate two views... an earthly view of the nations raging against God in utter rebellion and the heavenly view of God seated on His throne in heaven reigning and ruling over all as King.

Psalm 40 is a testimony, not only of David in the Bible, but also a testimony of God's people reminding us of not only what the Lord has done for us in the past, but how we can deepen our trust in the LORD, especiallly in times of trouble.

Why? Because Psalm 40 is not only David's testimony or our testimony as God's people yet today, it is Christ's testimony.

Psalm 40 points us directly to Christ to remind us that God is the God who came near to deliver His people from their greatest need, which points us to our salvation that is found only in Christ.

Because Christ, the Eternal Son of God, came from heaven to earth all the way to the cross to deliver His people from their greatest problem, there is no trouble that the LORD is not able to come near and help and deliver His people this day now!

Psalm 40 is a beautiful intertwined testimony reminding us that God is the God who came and who still comes near to His people yet today!

Right way or wrong way, how do we know? The Bible, God's Word, "Tells me so!"

Psalm 1 is a wisdom Psalm that marks out for us clearly that there is a right and there is a wrong, but there is only one way to the blessed life.

In six short verses, Psalm 1, describes for us a beautiful picture of the blessed man's life that is depicted not as chaff that is dead, worthless and directionless, but rather as a fruitful growing tree.

We, as God's people, are to bring forth fruit all of our days, as we are daily nourished in our relationship with the LORD by being rooted and grounded in God's Word.

The closing chapter of Nehemiah ends on an odd note where Nehemiah, the governor of the land, engages in the ministry of confrontation all for God and the good of the people.

Nehemiah encounters three difficult situations as a leader where he needed to respond by either cleaning house, establishing right practices, or engaging in the ministry of confrontation through increased, progressive discipline.

However, the end of the chapter closes as it began with a prayer of Nehemiah to be remembered by God for good. Yet it seems that no matter how much Nehemiah worked and tried, he was unable to secure the people's obedience before Holy God.

But even here, Nehemiah's apparent leadership failure in securing the people's obedience points us not backwards, but forwards to the 'Greater Nehemiah' who was yet to come, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Nehemiah Chapter 12 is all about the 'Dedication Celebration' of not only the completed Jerusalem wall, but of all that God had done for His people. The whole point of this special day was to celebrate what God had done and to dedicate themselves anew to the LORD to live not for themselves, but for the future generations.

Not every day can be a special 'Dedication Celebration' day in our life or ministry. It's not every year when we complete a major project or hit a major milestone in our life. But every day is to be a 'Dedication Celebration' as we celebrate what God has done in our life, including this day, and also dedicate ourselves anew each day to live not for ourselves, but for the LORD and the future generations.

Psalm 121 is an "Ascent Psalm" that reminds us that we all have hills and mountains that we need to climb or that come at us in life. Hills come in all different sizes and shapes. But no matter the hill we are facing right now, we can be comforted and encouraged to lift up our eyes from off of our hill and instead, focus on the LORD.

Psalm 121 reminds us our pathway up the hill can be made more sure as we remember with every step that we take that the LORD is our helper, our keeper, and our preserver, not only for all of our days now, but forevermore!

The people in Nehemiah chapter 10, made a beautiful 'Covenant of Commitment' before the LORD, not to be God's people, but because they were God's people and they simply wanted to declare to the LORD their desire to walk with Him as God's Covenant people.

Their 'Covenant of Commitment,' involved three major areas:

1) Their Commitment Concerning their Sons and Daughters in Marriage.

2) Their Commitment Concerning the Observance of the Sabbath.

3) Their Commitment Concering the House of the LORD.

As we look at the people's 'Covenant of Commitment,' we need to remember that even though the specifics of these commitments may not apply to us today, but the principles behind them by way of application does.

May the LORD help us, His people today, to walk in God's Covenant, not to be God's people or to become God's people, but because we are God's people, and we simply want to show to the LORD that we desire to walk with Him.

The longest prayer in the Bible is recorded for us in Nehemiah chapter 10.

What is this longest prayer all about? It is about a repentent people, who are dependent on the Lord's mercies, who call upon the Lord as God's people in united prayer.

At our recent CEF Summer Ministry Fundraiser with the Kramers in concert, we shared the final CEF of Illinois ministry report that included an overview of our summer ministry outreach.

From June through August, potentially 4,000 children will hear the Good News of Christ through 5-Day Clubs, Camp Ministry, Fair Ministry, and Gospel literature distribrition ministry.

In addition to our summer ministry here in Illinois, part of our CEF State Office team will be serving with CEF of Uganda in East Central Africa for a 3 week missions trip, June 26-July 16, doing children's ministry, public school and Sunday School ministry, and also conducting teacher training and seminars at various Children's Ministry Conferences held throughout Uganda.

The Feast of Pentecost is not just an Old Testament Feast. It is a New Testament fulfilled Feast that defines the purpose and the mission of the church of Christ today!

In Acts chapter 2, the prophetic fulfillment of the Feast of Pentecost was about two main things: the promise and the harvest.

The promise is the giving of the Holy Spirit for the three-fold purpose of spiritual conversion, spiritual sanctification, and also spiritual empowerment to be Christ's witness.

The harvest is the missional aspect of the church which defines this period of time between Christ's first and second coming. What time is it right now both biblically and prophetically until the LORD JESUS comes again? That's simple, it's HARVEST TIME!

The Feast of Pentecost in pointing us to both the promise and the harvest reminds us that because all of God's people who have believed in Christ have received the promise of the Holy Spirit, that means all of God's people are to take part in bringing in the harvest in reaching others for Christ, until Christ comes again!

The Seven Feasts of the LORD found in Leviticus 23 are not just Israelite, Old Testament Feasts; they are the LORD's Feasts which mark out God's calendar plan of redemption from beginning to end.

The first three feasts of the LORD occur in the first month of the year at Nisan, which is our April. The Feast of Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of Firstfruits were not only celebrated all within the month of Nisan, but they were prophetically fulfilled in Christ at Christ's first coming.

But how can that be so? The Scriptures, God's Word, tells us so!

The Feast of Passover--"Christ is our Passover Lamb sacrificed for us"* (1 Cor. 5:7).

*The Feast of Unleavened Bread--Christ is our true bread from heaven (John 6:32-58). Christ is our Unleavened Bread, who is without sin/without leaven, and is the only one who can take away and remove all our sins because of His perfect righteousness (1 Cor. 5:6-8 and 2 Cor. 5:21).

*The Feast of Firstfruits--Christ was raised, "on the third day according to the Scriptures," (1 Cor. 15:3-4) on the Feast of Firstfruits. Christ is the Firstfruits of all those who will be raised from the dead (1 Cor. 15:20-23). Because Christ was raised, we too shall be raised to eternal life with God forever!

So what does all this mean? It gives us a certain and sure hope that just as Christ came the first time, just as He said, so Christ will come the second time, just as He said.

Praise the LORD for His plan of redemption and let us take heart resting in that God's calendar of events is right on time!

'The Heart of the Gospel,' is answered in this simple, yet overarching question:"How can sinful man be made right in relationship with Holy God?"

The negative answer: It is not by our works by what we do or do not do because there is no righteousness within us to be accepted before Holy God.

The positive answer: All of our righteousness is found outside of us, by God's grace alone and by faith alone in the perfect righteousness of Christ alone.

The Scripture in 2 Corinthians 5:21 says it best.

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."

The Heart of the Gospel is not only that Christ become sin for us to take away our sin. But also, that Christ, who was without sin and fulfilled all righteousness for us on our behalf, imparted His perfect righteousness to us, to all who believe on Him.

The moment one trusts by faith alone in Christ's atonement for our sin and His perfect righteousness, the Gospel Good News is that all of our sin is transferred to Christ and all of Christ's righteousness is transferred and placed on us!

That is Good News!

The Heart of the Gospel is that, 'sinful man can be made right in relationship with Holy God,' not because of us, but all because of Christ!

Praise God for the Heart of the Gospel is Christ!

Many people down through the church age have asked the question, "Who Was Jesus?"

As C.S. Lewis so distinctly stated, 'Christ is either a liar, a lunatic, or He is Lord." Lewis goes on to say, "... let us not come up with any patronising nonsense about His (Jesus) being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."

The Gospel points out to us the truth that Jesus Christ is LORD, but how do we know? Simply put, the Bible tells us so!

Christ is 'The One Who Was Different,' because Christ is the incarnate Son of God come in the flesh. He is the 'God-Man,' God and Man in one.

Christ's birth was different.

Christ's life was different.

Christ's power was different.

Christ's message was different.

Christ's death was different.

Christ's purpose for coming was different.

The four Gospels together of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John serve as a silhouette, a portrait of Christ, which together proclaims that, "The One Who Was Different," is in fact, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who was, and is, and is coming again, the very Son of God!

This Easter season we remember all that our Lord Jesus has done for us on our behalf.

Yet, have you ever wondered in the Easter story WHO IS GUILTY for putting Jesus to death?

Was it Judas who betrayed Jesus that night in the garden? Or was it the Chief Priests and High Priest who conconcted the whole plot and sought to deliver Jesus to death?

Or perhaps, it was the King Herod from Gaililee or the crowd of people who kept crying out for Jesus' death by crucifixion? But maybe the true guilt lies with Pilot, the Roman governor, who issued Jesus' official death sentence and had the Roman soldiers carry out the crucifixion act by nailing Jesus to the cross.

WHO IS GUILTY?

The truth is that ALL OF THEM ARE GUILTY (see Acts 4:25-27)!

But there is an even deeper truth that each of us must see, for WE ARE ALL THE GUILTY ONES, and at the same time, THE LOVED ONES, for whom Christ died to redeem.

In the book of Leviticus, there are seven Feasts of the LORD which are laid out as part of the Jewish calendar year.

But what do these seven Feasts have to do with us today?

The whole Old Testament, including these biblical Feasts, point to Christ, portray our relationship as believers in Christ, and ultimately, have a prophetic fulfillment in Christ.

These seven Feasts function as God's plan of Redemption, which will all be fulfilled according to God's appointed time.

The first feast that starts God's redemptive clock is the feast of Passover, which from the beginning unto all eternity points to Christ, our Passover Lamb.

In Nehemiah chapter 8, God's people come together to understand God's Word and to apply God's Word, which results in great joy in the LORD.

One of their applications of God's Word discovered by the people in Nehemiah's day is the celebration of the Feasts of Tabernacles. But how does the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles help God's people back then and for us today to apply God's Word to our lives?

In four specific ways: 1) By remembering what God has done, 2) by remembering where we are going, 3) by remembering God's promises, and 4) by remembering that God is right here with us, present with His people.

Do you want present joy and eternal joy in the LORD and not the 'Fake Joy' of the world that passes away? There is no other secret or short-cut then in diving into God's Word 'day by day' to understand and to apply God's Word, which results in very great joy in the Lord for God's people.

Revivals are deeply needed among God's people today, yet revivals do not happen in a vaccum. Rather, revivals include God's work in and through His people, by and with His Word.

In Nehemiah chapter 8, the greatest recorded revival in Scripture took place over 2,500 years ago during the time of Nehemiah. The revival occurred as all of God's people together grew in their understanding in knowing the Book, knowing their place, and knowing their God.

After Nehemiah and the people completed building the Jerusalem wall in a mere 52 days, what's next?

Nehemiah chapter 6 and 7 is a gleaning of many biblical principals that points God's people, whether in Nehemiah's time or even today, to complete each God-given task as part of our overall God-given mission.

Nehemiah chapter 6 points us to Nehemiah's, 'What's Next,' including the SILENCE of CELBRATION, so GOD GETS ALL THE GLORY, and the EXPECTATION of MORE OPPOSITION, especially internal attacks which often come from within.

Nehemiah chapter 7, through the life of Nehemiah and the people, then reminds us of our immediate, 'What's Next,' is simply to GET ON WITH THE NEXT TASK and GET OTHERS INVOLVED, because ultimately all that we are doing is not for us, but for the LORD and for our children, our FUTURE GENERATIONS!

Here is a spiritual law that you can take to heart: 'spiritual work and spiritual attack' go together because we are in a spiritual war!

In Nehemiah Chapter 6, the personal attacks against Nehemiah by his arch-enemies, ramps up and zeroes in on the leader Nehemiah. The goal was to stop the wall building work at any cost.

Nehemiah 6 reads like a spy novel where threats against God's servant abound. These spiritual attacks point us to the real spiritual war that rages against God's people. Spiritual battle tactics and dependence upon the Lord are required, as we are strengthened in the Lord to complete our spiritual work and rest in God's sovereignty.

Nehemiah, the governor of the land in Jerusalem, not only encourages God's people to model redemption, by forgiving other's debts and keeping their promise before God and man, but also to give grace to others, by giving 'grace for grace'.

Nehemiah, in many ways, reflected the true Redeemer, by not requiring of the people what he could have charged and also by abundunantly providing for his people at his table.

Nehemiah in many ways was a reflection of the 'Greater Nehemiah' and the 'Greater Governor', who is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Nehemiah was a good and even great governor of the land of Judah, but Nehemiah pales in comparison when paired to Christ, who is our 'Great Redeemer'.

Internal family disunity broke out among God's people that almost brought the 'wall-building work' in Jerusalem to a screeching halt. Brethern turned against brethren and family against family, all because great debt was heaped up due to famine, taxes, and usury charged on top.

The people were powerless on their to repay. They needed a Redeemer!

In the same way, we also need a Redeemer, one who will provide for His people who are unable to provide for themselves.

Nehemiah 5 not only reminds us as God's people, that we need a Redeemer, but that we are to model redemption before others, even in the midst of internal family disunity. As God forgave us our greater sin debt, so we are to forgive others their lesser sin debt and intentionally step from disunity to restored unity in Christ.

Gracia Burnham continues to share her testimony where her and her husband, Martin, were held hostage on the Philippine islands by a Muslim terroist group for over a year.

But even in the midst of captivity, and afterwards, the Lord has provided opportunities for Gracia to show God's love to her captives, who were former enemies.

There is a beautiful verse found in Zechariah 4:6 that is inlaid in a strange, yet beautiful picture of encouragement that stands as a reminder to God's people that no matter the obstacles that we face either from within or from without, that God has promised to supply by His Spirit all our need so that we, as God's people, are enabled to finish the work that God has called us to do. For it is, "Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts."

Mission Takes A Team!

Excerpts from the life of William Carey, "The Father of Modern Missions," has many implications and applications still today. But the overriding 'take-away' is the pioneer missionary model of governing structure between the missionary board and the missionary staff which results in a unified team.

As William Carey stated before he sailed to India in the late 1700's, "I will go down and descend into the deep mine if you will hold the rope." The rope is a three-fold cord that is not easily broken resulting in a unified prayer team, a unified leadership team, and a unified ministry team.

William Carey's 'model in missions' is still the blue-print still today, for great unity results in great extended ministry done for the glory of God!

King Asa, in 2 Chronicles 16 exited his reign on a downward spiritual spiral with no signs of repentance, but then in 2 Chronicles 17, Asa's son King Jehoshaphat entered stage right and sought to stay right with the Lord all the days of his life. Revival broke out among the people of Israel as a result. Is it possible for that to still happen today? Listen to today's episode to find encouragement from God's Word.

When we are in the midst of making poor spiritual decisions or doing spiritual U-turns in our life, things often have to get worse before we, as the Lord's people wake up and realize what we have done and how far we have stepped away from the Lord. In 2 Chronicles 18 we find King Jehoshaphat fighting on the wrong side. Listen to this episode to find what God's Word instructs us to do when we find ourselves succumbing to the ways of the world.

What will God do to get His people's attention to depend ultimately on Him? What will God do to humble us before almighty God to see that we have no one else to turn to so that our eyes are solely looking to Him? What will God do to be glorified in our midst so that all praise, honor, and worship redounds to the glory of God. The answer: Anything that God needs to do to accomplish His work of supreme dependance in our lives in the worship and praise of only Him! In God's Word, we see this in 2 Chronicles 20.
