This season in the liturgical calendar focuses upon the ongoing growth of the Church. The altar/vestment color for this season is traditionally green to denote that growth.

About our Sermon series: More than a sweeping look at Israel's political history, 1 Samuel offers an intimate family portrait, telling the story of the nation of Israel through marriages under pressure, sibling dynamics, trouble between fathers and sons, and intense personal failures. What comes together, then, is a scrapbook of sorts, reminding Israel of her family story and inviting future generations to find themselves in its pages. In big and small ways, the characters we meet in 1 Samuel cry out, “Give Us a King!” Yet all along, they had one! The same Lord seeks to lead us, too. That same Lord sent His Son to rescue us from sin and to teach us to pray “Thy kingdom come!” Jesus Himself stands on the final page of this scrapbook as the King we need and crave.
