Are you letting imposter syndrome hold you back?
Imposter syndrome is feeling like a fake or a phony, like your not good enough to be doing or saying something. You might feel like one day someone is going to knock on your door, point there finger in your face and say I know you have no idea what you're doing or talking about and I’m going to make sure the whole world knows it!
In your nightmares it just might be your self knocking on that door.
Imposter syndrome is your brains way of trying to keep you safe from the unknown. Its saying, remember how warm and comfortable it was before all this? Let's go back there so you can live out your unfulfilling days “safely."
But let me tell you, there is a greater calling within me that is gently pushing me to be my own boss and have control of how I spend my time on this earth.
I could break away from that gentle push at any time and I have before.
But if I did I would have so many more regrets in my life
Is imposter syndrome holding you back???
When I first graduated high school I took an EMT Basic course. I did well in the class but when it came down to getting my state certification I choked up. I decided not to follow through with it.
I never had a solid excuse when people asked me why. Today I know that it was imposter syndrome holding me back.
I am currently taking a business minded course. Jody Moore teaches you to put out B- level work so you can keep moving forward.
News flash, you will never think something you do is perfect. No matter how long or hard you work on it your inner critic will always tell you there is more to be done or people won't like it and they will know its not the absolute best thing out there.
Guess what. By putting out that B- work you just might change someone’s life because you didn’t hold back and keep it to yourself.
You took a risk to help others and grow yourself.
Next time you are struggling to keep that inner critic at bay ask yourself if the work you’re putting out is your best b- level work and if it is show it to the world.
Next time you notice imposter syndrome present remind yourself that you're probably about to or are doing something outside your comfort zone that will help you grow and move forward with your life and achievements.
