Have you ever found yourself assuming the worst case scenario when someone doesn't text you back right away? Sometimes when we have trouble hearing from God, we assume that we did something wrong. Humans have felt a sense of inadequacy towards the Divine for all of history. Religion preys on our weakness by continually offering new systems of appeasement. We thought God needed a "temple of doom" style sacrifice to be okay with us. Instead, Jesus Christ introduces us to a Father who graciously provided his own blood to satisfy our guilt. The blood of Jesus was not to change God's mind about us, rather it is to change our shame riddled minds about Him! We really can be confident in His opinion of us matter what our fleeting emotions might tell us!
