I’m this episode Susanne & Lacey do a deep dive on cultic abuse. Both of them have been involved in religious cults— Susanne as a young college student, and Lacey as a young child. Lacey later joined an MLM company that reflected a cultic environment. They dive into signs to look out for, like lovebombing. They also touch on the self proclaimed coaching/guru industry that is all over social media right now and the need for crucial accountability when giving generalized advice online. They touch on the huge difference between sharing one own’s lived experience and giving generalized advice off of only ONE lived experience and assuming it’s applicable for a wide range of individuals. They tie together how often times self proclaimed coaches online gain a large following  online similar to a cult-like experience, and what to look out for as far as red/green flags when it comes to hiring online coaches.
