In this episode, we’ll talk about Afghanistan, the presence of the Taliban in Afghanistan and human rights affected as a result of such presence. Some of these human rights include the right to education, freedom from discrimination, right to peaceful assembly, and so on. 

Basically, the Taliban, an Islamic fundamentalist group, that ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until the U.S.-led invasion in 2001 have returned to power in Afghanistan 20 years after their expulsion by U.S. troops. 

When the Taliban returned, it was feared  that they may impose harsh rules, despite their promises to respect the rights of women and minority communities and provide amnesty for people who supported U.S. efforts.  Now, these fears are becoming a reality as the Taliban have taken actions in line with their brutal rule in the late 1990s. In a flood of decrees issued recently, the Taliban has imposed restrictions on the behaviour, movement, and appearances of residents, particularly those of women and girls.
