Advent is the countdown to the day the Lord comes among us. Please join me in the countdown…10, 9, 8…We have lift off, it’s the Advent of our God! The Lord, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, has come to save us. But John isn’t so sure. Jesus isn’t doing what John expected of the Christ.

“Houston, we have a problem!” John’s still in prison, everyone still struggles with sin, and death is still at the door. So John sends his disciples to ask Jesus whether He is, indeed, the Christ. Jesus answered, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have the good news preached to them” (Luke 7:22). What did you expect?
