This episode’s conversation further develops our understanding of the “Great Commission” found in Matthew 28: 16-20. Before any instructions were given to the disciples as to their mission in the world, Matthew describes how, when they saw Jesus, they were moved to worship him and that some of them held back or doubted. What does it mean to worship today and why might we doubt or hold ourselves back from this devotional act? We are reminded again that human beings are designed to worship and are free to choose what we will become through our worship activities. Why do the disciples worship Christ Jesus when they encounter him on the mountain? They behold a new creation: the resurrected Christ carries the True Human Being in his being. They cannot help but stand in awe before Him.

Called to Become Gods"Worship, therefore, is not about subservience but connecting to the one we aspire to become. Jonah and Patrick explore how this calling to become divine creators is already long launched in humanity and we are well on our way to possessing many of the powers that used to be in the hands of God: electricity, nuclear power (the power of suns) and the generation of things, organic matter, cloning and, ultimately, humanoids made in our own likeness:“…we are generating artificial intelligence, another being who is an image of us. That’s what Jahwe does in the beginning of the book of Genesis! We are becoming Gods!…The only question is: what kind of God will you become?” That question is answered by where we turn our worshipful attention. Before whom do we bow?
