In this week's episode I have a question for you - have you accepted your flaws? Something came up for me during a coaching session this week that I think is interesting to look into - the multiple parts to our personalities: how we can simultaneously be kind but also selfish, helpful but also defiant. Accepting all our qualities (desirable or not!) is so key...

Welcome back to The Resilient Mindset Series.
I believe a resilient mindset is one of the key elements to a successful business owner, if not THE most important, so what exactly is a resilient mindset? How can we develop one? And why is just so important?
In this series of podcast episodes, each month I am going to be interviewing a truly inspiring female business owner who has overcome adversity, managed failures, dealt with grief, heartbreak, disappointments and setbacks but are still standing, still working towards their goals and, if anything, are all the stronger for it. I defy you not to be inspired and uplifted by these women's stories and I cannot wait to share them with you!
This month I am back with another fabulous guest - Rachel Barber from Creating Stories.
Rachel went from a career that started in sales and marketing which evolved into running a copywriting and content marketing business … to a life made up of personal writing projects, stand-up comedy, political campaigning for women’s equality, learning new languages and acting. And what ties all these things together? Rachel's love for telling stories that deserve to be told.
During her 13 years of experience as a Writer and Content Marketing expert Rachel has worked with both small digital consultancies and large multi-nationals.
You can follow Rachel on Insta here

I'm Rachel Bloomfield, I’m a mindset coach and business mentor for busy women like you.
I love nothing more than supporting you to prioritise yourself more, find joy in all areas of busy life and build your confidence to design your business to suit the life you truly desire and deserve!

In today's episode I chat about how we respond to the successes of others around us; can we feel proud and inspired or does it trigger our own inferiority complex or sense of lack?? By the way - both of these are perfectly natural responses, but I believe that it is what we do with these responses where the magic happens!!

As today (Friday 29th April 2022) is International Dance Day, I figured what better day to talk about why I think it's never too late to take up new hobbies, which for me meant taking up tap dancing at the ripe old age of 39!!!
If you're interested in trying out an adult tap or ballet class and you're local to me in Letchworth then I highly recommend The Britton School of Performing Arts.

Two years ago today we began the first UK lockdown! Did we have any clue what was instore for us?? Zoom kitchen discos, home-schooling, rainbows in windows, daily walks, clapping for the NHS, keeping 2 metres apart, making bread, doing Joe Wicks workouts, building dens, camping in the garden, sanitising deliveries, bingeing on Netflix... It certainly was a crazy, stressful time, but were there some bits we actually miss??? In today's episode of Mums' Night Out we discuss just that!

In today's episode, we discuss all things appearance and image! We chat about our own hang-ups and insecurities and what messages we want to be passing on to our children. We also go down a funny little rabbit hole reminiscing about some of our questionable fashion choices from our teen years - pastel suit jackets from Select, anyone else?!?
at 8:52 I reference a brilliant interview with the fabulous Brene Brown on the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast. You can listen to that here: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/s13-ep1-how-to-fail-bren%C3%A9-brown/id1407451189?i=1000547612407

This episode is all about trying to be committed and consistent if you set an intention to do something! But also, and probably most importantly, being kind to yourself when you slip up!! We are all going to make mistakes, forget things, slip-up in some way and we can beat ourselves up about it and give up on the thing we were trying to do or we can pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and try again!

This episode was inspired by the ramblings of my own mind as we prepare for the change in Covid regulations here in England. In a couple of days' time there will no longer be a legal requirement to isolate if you have covid. Whilst I am pleased with moving in the right direction to 'living with covid', I wonder if we are simply replacing a legal issue with a moral dilemma and, if so, which is the easiest to navigate?!?

Today's episode was recorded during the February half term holiday. We discuss how we juggle childcare, keeping the kids entertained, working, getting stuff done in the house and even, maybe, finding some time to ourselves too!! We chat about how crazy busy places can be in half term and the misery that was half-term holidays during lockdown!!

Welcome back to another quick 'Coffee Catch-up' - a weekly thought from one Mum to another! A 5 minute episode to listen to whilst downing your coffee before the baby wakes up, or you have to start work or head out on the school run!
In this episode I talk about whether it's ok to share our negative emotions with our kids. Our natural instinct as a parent is to protect our kids from harm and hurt and to try to keep them happy but are we actually doing them a disservice with this??
This episode was inspired after my trip to the cinema to see the incredible new Belfast film. If you haven't seen it, here's the trailer. I highly, highly recommend it.
I also mention this incredible quote from Philippa Perry: "When we just want the kids to be happy, we put unnecessary and added pressure on them. We need to support our children in all their feelings. it's a hard one to take on board because our inclination is to fix what's hurting. yet the best fix of all is to keep our kids company in whatever they are going through. Then when they are anything other than happy, they don't feel they're failing." If this resonates with you, then I really recommend you check out Perry's incredible book: The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read (and your children will be glad that you did!)

In this episode I talk about when our kids' busy schedules threaten to take-over our own lives and what we can do to prevent this whilst still allowing our children to have all the opportunities that we want them to have.
As an example of how busy the kids' lives can be, I mention the dance festivals that my daughter takes part in! We talk about these in lots of detail in our latest full-length episode: The Accidental Dance Mums!

In this latest episode of Mums' Night Out we chat about the reality of being Dance Mums - it's a tough job but someone's got to do it!! Spoiler alert - thankfully, our experience is nothing like the TV show Dance Moms!! No grown women screaming at each other that their kid should have a solo above someone else's child and no rival dance schools shouting at each other across the dressing room. But you do need to be quite dedicated, super-organised and it sure helps if you actually enjoy dance!! (If you're a dab hand at French plaits and ballet buns then even better!!)

In this episode I talk all about anxiety and worry, how it shows up for me and the things I try to do to help myself through these moments!
I want to be clear that I am by no means an expert in this field, I am simply sharing with you my personal experience in the hope that some of it may resonate with you and could help in some way.
If you do feel that you are struggling with anxiety, please do not struggle alone; talk to a friend, a partner, a family member, better still get in touch with your GP who can point you in the direction of all sorts of help that's available. Or if all that feels too confronting then, you could also head over to Mind.org.uk who have so many wonderful free resources that can help.
In this episode I mention a game-changing interview I listened to with Mo Gawdat on the How To Fail Podcast. I urge you to go and listen to this one, it is jam-packed with so many gems! Welcome to 2022 and a new format of the Mums' Night Out Podcast! Alongside our regular episodes, once a week we will bring you a quick 'Coffee Catch-up' - a weekly thought from one Mum to another! A 5 minute episode to listen to whilst downing your coffee before the baby wakes up, or you have to start work or head out on the school run!
In this episode I talk about little things we can all add into our lives in order to prioritise ourselves just that little bit more!
I share with you 5 simple things that I add into my days in order to invest just a tiny bit more time into myself.
I talk about my love of tapping meditations/emotional freedom technique. I use the wonderful Tapping Solution App from Nick Ortner. You can start with a free version to see if you like it!
Here's the link to the Apple App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/the-tapping-solution/id1419815487?ls=1
And on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.datechnologies.tappingsolution
For a complete beginner's intro to tapping, I love this video of Nick Ortner with Marie Forleo (this is how I first became interested in the technique): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v__Z7c6WC0A
I also talk about a deep breathing technique that I use every day! Takes just a couple of minutes and really helps me! I use the power breath technique introduced to me at a Tony Robbins event, essentially just breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 20 seconds and breathe out for 10: https://www.tonyrobbins.com/health-vitality/just-breathe/
I also try to do my own version of 'priming' when I wake up in the morning: Here's Tony Robbins explaining how he does it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXYhfy4b5Bg I've modified this over the last few years to better suit me and what I need in the mornings. Takes me a maximum of 5 minutes!!
