Hello. My name is Dave Cole and I'm the dungeon master, host, and producer of Four Orbs--a Dungeons and Dragons actual play podcast. Four Orbs is a narrative-focused actual play produced to sound like an audio drama. So we really put an emphasis on cutting out all the game mechanics and rule talk so that you as a listener can focus on the story. This 30-minute clip is from an episode this past year called Dead Men Tell Tales and is part 4 of 9. It is episode 64 in our catalog. What I really feel this clip gives you if you are not a listener is how we try to treat our scenes as cinematic as possible. This clip includes no combat and the story is them stepping foot for the first time on a set of islands they have traveled to by boat.

In it you will hear some of my own custom music along with some music we are allowed to use through an affiliate. Soundscapes and sound effects are designed to help immerse you into the scenes along with transitions as if you were watching a film. You'll get a sense of how I as a DM run the game, and how my players interact with the world. At least, that's what we're going for, so I hope you get that out of it. Maybe you'll even get in a laugh or two?

But one big thing to note is we have been running the podcast for four years, and I have been creating this fictional, high-fantasy world for seventeen years. So there's a lot of deep lore just available to the players if they ask the right questions or investigate the right things. And honestly, we are just six good friends sitting around a table trying to bring our story to your ears in the best possible way. So I hope you can enjoy just being a fly-on-the-wall as we play this game together.
