This was such a great conversation. I do not inhabit a larger body and as such feel a real need to place others who have the lived experience, in the forefront of this discussion.

Becky has been a fitness instructor delivering dance based workouts for over 2 years but navigating the fitness industry as a plussize instructor has not been easy. I have followed Becky @missfitsworkout for a couple of years now after she caught my attention on one of Tally Rye's posts about movement for everybody.

She has inspired me hugely. She breaks the stereotype and isn't afraid to go against the grain. She does not simply accept that body shaming and weight stigma in the fitness industry exists but rather is on a mission to challenge it on a larger scale with her work with @againstweightstigma and @thisgirlcan and specifically with the women she teaches. (Oh and did I mention until recently she also had a full-time job?! And a family? And a dog?!)

We talk about normalising normal bodies. Specifically the corner of Instagram often taken up with straight sized women openly displaying their "flaws" such as cellulite and belly rolls, fighting the diet culture rhetoric that bodies should look a certain way. This is an interesting one for me. We chat about the fact that although there is a place for this, what does this mean for women in larger bodies?

Becky explains that there is a huge difference between having body hang ups which we can ALL have and the body oppression and endless stigma that comes from living in a larger body.

This is a conversation you will NOT want to miss. Please follow, download and follow Becky for more information or to join her online dance workouts!

Thank you SO much for listening.
