Hello dear Listener! In this intriguing bonus for Episode 6 of the Weird Wonderful Wanders podcast, we return to my wander on Dartmoor with folklore researcher Jo Hickey-Hall of the Modern Fairy Sightings project.

I’m Claire Casely, a wanderer between the realms and in each episode I walk with my guests and talk about their supernatural experiences. Sometimes, such as in this episode, we encounter some unusual phenomena along the way!

I highly recommend that you listen to the main episode 6 Pixie Tunes and Wild Perfume here too: https://www.faerywhisperer.co.uk/2022/06/07/pixie-tunes-and-wild-perfume/

In this bonus you can listen to some more candid parts of the conversation between Jo and I. We chat about:

  • My experience of hearing otherworldly music with another family member and Jo shares a reference to folklore about pixie music on Dartmoor.
  • A synchronistic encounter we had with a passer-by and otherworldly perfume.
  • The importance of passing down stories from our family elders
  • Giving our children permission to see the world in a more magical way and to encourage imagination.
  • Jo’s Irish ancestry and her beloved father’s connection with faeries and stories from his childhood in Ireland, such as experiences with faerie rings.
  • My paternal grandfather and his influence on my interest in the paranormal and how that has influenced my world view and parenting of my children.
  • Plus more…

Ghostly Tunes:

Also, whilst editing this part of our chat, to my surprise and delight, I found what sounds like a woman singing a wordless song in the background. This is known as an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) which are believed by paranormal researchers to be spirit voices.

Exclusive! Due to previous experiences I’m starting to feel that this ghostly, singing lady is connected to me and I will be exploring in future episodes.

And, I am so intrigued with discovering more about who this woman could be that I returned to the red roofed barn in early June this year to talk with the spirits of the ruined farm. I captured, what I think, are taps and knocks from the resident spirits in response to my questions.

It is wonderful how our senses can be aroused in these liminal landscapes, such as Dartmoor. Especially if we slowdown, relax and go into a meditative state.

I feel it was to do with being with a like-minded soul Jo and I both being sensitive to the supernatural and invested in exploring these experiences.

As mentioned in this episode; Remember to step through these special thresholds with honour and respect.
