Frankenstein by Mary Shelley chapter 17, narrated by Isaac Birchall

The creature stops speaking and demands that Frankenstein agrees to hid command. Frankenstein refuses outright, and states that the creature may make him the most miserable being who is tortured and beaten, and he shall never comply. The being tries to reason with him, asking if he should reason with man if man does not deem him worthy of life. He should have a bride, and if he does not then he shall cause fear on everyone around Frankenstein and he shall work on the destruction of his life. The being claims that should Frankenstein make him a bride, as hideous as himself, then he should never bother any human being ever again. That their lives would not be happy, but that they would be together, and that would be enough. Frankenstein is conflicted as he now sees the creature as a being deserving of love, and a being that is smart and creative, and as one who has experienced life.
Frankenstein confirms the creature’s demands. Claiming that as someone who wants to longingly for human love, how could he guarantee that he, with another being at him side, would not come to wreak havoc upon mankind. The being angrily rebuts this and tries with furious earnest to convince Frankenstein that he would dwell in the wilds. Frankenstein then questions if the being is harmless, like he has insisted, then why did he kill William?
After further rebuttals and long consideration, and finally accepts the beast’s request, only asking in return that the creature promises that upon completion, he and his new bride leave immediately for the wilds, away from him, and others.
