Dracula by Bram Stoker chapter 9, narrated by Isaac Birchall

Mina writes to Lucy from Budapest, where she has finally been reunited with Jonathan. He is a destroyed man, and he has 0 memories of his time with the Count. The nun taking care of him confesses to Lucy that Jonathan often raves in his sleep about unspeakable things. Jonathan however still has his diary, but he implores Mina not to read it as he knows that what caused his brain fever is written down inside of it. Renfield has become more docile following his escape. But a few days later, he escapes again and runs to the chapel of Dracula’s house in Carfax. Dr Seward follows his attendants to track him down, as Renfield immediately in aggressive towards them, he however calms down almost at once as Dr Seward catches glimpse of a bat in the moonlight.
Lucy herself begins a Diary now, in which she wishes to record her dreams. A constant scratching happens at the windows and as she weakens, Arthur, her fiancée, writes to Dr Seward to have a look at her. Dr Seward give Lucy an exam and concluded that he needs to bring in some help from his mentor, the famous Dr Van Helsing.
