Dracula by Bram Stoker chapter 14, narrated by Isaac Birchall
Copying out Jonathan Harker’s Journal, Mina is horrified at its contents. When Dr Van Helsing comes to visit, he tells Mina about the events that led up to Lucy’s death; impressed by what he tells her, Lucy gives him a copy of Jonathan’s Journal to read. After reading the Diary over, Van Helsing returns in the morning to discuss it with Jonathan and Mina. Van Helsing’s belief in Jonathan’s experiences in Transylvania restores mis memories and mental health drastically. After hearing the events of Lucy’s passing, Jonathan determines that Dracula must be in England and starts a new Diary to document it.
Dr Seward reports that his patient Renfield has restarted his fly catching again. Van Helsing hands the paper to Seward and points out the “Bloofer Lady” story, making note of the children always reappearing with two “pin prick dots” on their necks, like those of Lucy. Seward is hesitant at believing his mentor, Van Helsing urges him to open his mind to the supernatural. Van Helsing concludes that it must be Lucy who is attacking the children.
