Christ's message is repent so that sin may be forgiven. So forgiveness is the end while repentance is the means. In previous episodes, we stated that to repent means to think differently. But in what way must we think differently in order to bring about forgiveness?

In this episode, we learn how the rite of baptism symbolizes what in particular we must repent of in order to both receive and extend forgiveness.  What it teaches us is shocking. But that is because Christ's message, when properly understood, is shocking. And that is why his teaching has a long history of either being persecuted and rejected by some or considered amazing by others.
