Psalm, Chapter 72
The Reign of the Righteous King.
A Psalm of Solomon.
72 Give the king Your judgments, O God,
And Your righteousness to the king’s son.
o the only righteous king is Jesus Christ
o and he will reign forever and ever
o Solomon means “recompense; to be or make whole or complete; completeness; peace”
o When Jesus Christ reigns He will recompense everyone fully complete and there will be real peace!
o This means the power to Judge as God
o This means the same righteousness as God because He is
2 [a]May [b]he judge Your people with righteousness
And [c]Your afflicted with justice.
o Notice who’s people they are – they are His
o To judge with righteousness is to judge wisely and fully correct
o Notice who’s the afflicted are “His”
o They are going get repaid all that the locus had eaten (recompensed)
o This is when justice will be evident
3 [d]Let the mountains bring [e]peace to the people,
And the hills, in righteousness.
o The mountains are a reference to Jerusalem where God’s Himself will rule & reign
4 [f]May he vindicate the [g]afflicted of the people,
Save the children of the needy
And crush the oppressor.
o 1 – vindicate the afflicted
§ This means they won’t be afflicted anymore & they get repaid for their previous affliction (rewarded; repaid; recompensed)
o 2 – save the children of the needy
§ This means they get food, water, shelter, love, school, learning & blessing
§ Everything they were previously depraved of
o And crush the oppressor
§ Those who previously oppressed the children will be crushed
§ The devil and all his followers including wicked teachers and perverts, etc.
§ They will no longer remain as they get crushed (into dirt)
