IIM Ahmedabad Overview

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) was established in 1961. It was set up by a group of free-thinking individuals including space scientist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai an eminent industrialist and philanthropist Sri Kasturbhai Lalbhai and was supported by the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Dr. Jivraj Mehta. This group together formed an alliance with the government at the center and the state, local authorities, the Ford foundation and the Harvard business School, to establish the foundation of the Institute. The institution is managed by IIMA society, formed under the Societies Act. IIMA was the first management school in the country to be awarded European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

IIMA believes in performing in high standards by connecting and reaching out with the corporates, researchers, local community. The institute offers e-Enabled online programs exclusively designed for the working executives. These sessions are delivered online through highly interactive and live sessions. The objective of these programs is to deliver information and knowledge support to business leaders. The institute also offers open and customized online programs for individuals who are unable to attend on-campus programs.
