August 13th is National Prosecco Day - Riondo Prosecco founded National Prosecco Day to celebrate the sparkling summer months. Riondo Prosecco earned #1 Prosecco in Italy in 2010 by Il Mio Vino magazine and Gold Medal Minner Vinitaly in 2011. Teriato Wines acquired the Riondo Prosecco brand on January 1, 2016. The Registrar at National Day Calendar approved the day in 2016.
Prosecco is a Sparkling Wine made in Italy, an alternative to Champagne. Prosecco is made with the Charmat Method using the Glera grape (at least 85%). Best Proseccos are made in Venetia region between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano.
