“Road to 2023”, Written, Produced and Narrated by Baldi.
Taking cues from a few recent questions, let me elaborate on my “Road to 2023”.
I’ll begin with my Podcast, by saying, fear not, it’s not going anywhere, anytime soon, however, there will be several other changes as I progress towards realising my 2023 goals of centralising everything into one, possibly two places. I will explain my thought process and reasoning in a future cast, do keep your ears to the ground.
Starting January 1st, 2023, I will be sunsetting both my “Facebook” and “Facebook Messenger” accounts. Rest assured, I am aware for some of you my actions will prove to be interesting, however, we have E-Mail, “What’s App” and a whole host of Video, Audio, and Text-based methods of communication. I look forward to keeping in touch with as many of you as possible as we travel along our future paths. My current contact details will always be located along the bottom of ever page of this, my Podcast site, alternatively, please “Facebook Message” me before the end of December 2022 and we will swap our best contact details. In other “Social Media” News, for the time being I will be keeping my “LinkedIn” profile, do feel free to add me, however, I much prefer Instant Messages, Voice or Video calls for directness and speed. I note and thank you for noticing other Social Media accounts appearing and disappearing in recent weeks. These, I am currently testing and will make a firm decision in the new year, I will of course let you know for sure which ones will be kept. For the time being, feel free to add me, however, be aware of potential changes.
I believe not only will this enable me to serve you, my community better by uploading higher quality, more inspirational Podcasts more frequently, but also allow me to answer your questions in a more timely and richer manner. I also believe my plan for 2023 will allow me to achieve my goals quicker, enabling me to bring all my plans forward thus inspiring you with future activities, which in turn allows you to inspire others along their life path. A win, win situation for us all.
In Piano news, I am enjoying revising older repertoire along with learning new pieces and studies enabling me to advance both my technique and musicality for future live performances, however, I am saddened by the passing of my life-long friend and mentor Dr. Attarah Ben-Tovim, to which I dedicated todays post. Rest in peace inspiring Lady and know you will never, ever be forgotten.
To Figure Skating news, I am continuing learning new techniques enabling me to progress towards taking my Level 2 “Skills” and Level 1 “Programme” tests. Many changes of faces were ushered in with this new academic year, which I find inspiring, however, look forward to keeping in touch with those of you who have moved onto universities and or work.
To Table Tennis news. I feel these last few weeks, I have advanced, however realise lots of enjoyment in the form of learning in my future is to be achieved. I remain committed attending Club two evenings a week, and look forward to my future in this exciting, fun, and challenging sport.
Currently I am enjoying reading “Blood of the Vikings” written by Julian Richards. As a lover of factual books, I can thoroughly recommend this to you all as I find his book to be well researched, well written, informative, and enjoyable.
Lastly, however certainly not least, let me turn to my own book(s) news. In brief, I have now removed all potential chapters from the latest version, which used to be one massive volume splitting them up into smaller. More approachable sections, mini books if you will, ripe for future development. I plan to continue in this vein producing a set of inspiring, shorter stories for you all. I’d love to say a lot more, however, will “Keep the Surprise”, for now.
Thanks for listening to today’s episode of “Baldi’s Podcast”, written, produced, hosted, and narrated by survivor, internationally renowned lifelong Musician, Pianist, Educator, Keynote Motivational Speaker, Photographer, Videographer, Writer, Podcaster, Producer, and International Double Gold Figure Skating Medallist “Baldi”, A.K.A Amonn AL-Mahrouq, encouraging you all to reach your full potential, pursue your dreams, share your learning, and inspire others along your life’s journey.
“Do You Discord”, Written, Narrated and Produced by Baldi.
Thanks for all your inspirational messages, social messages, comments, and social media likes.
Is it me, or did last week seemingly last only around 2 days? The takeaway, what an inspiring week! From Table Tennis, to Piano, to Figure Skating, to Writing, to Editing to…..oh, hi Matty, I believe you have a question.
Matty: Yes, Baldi, I do. Thanks for taking the time to respond and allow me to air my thoughts. Taking off from your cast “Projects To Inspire”, could you enlighten me as to what exactly you are planning? Thanks.
Matty! Thanks for your question. Certainly, let me explain. To build a more positive, engaged, focused, and inspired community, I’ve set up a “Free to Join” “Discord Server”. At the moment this new group is only open to my students and everyone on any of my social media channels, however, I have plans to open it up to a wider audience in the future. For those of you who are not yet familiar with “Discord”, we have “Servers”, which will be strictly, constantly monitored, and moderated. In these servers we can post inspiring images, text, and audio stories or “Private Message” each other. Think of a “Server” similar to a “Closed Group” on your favourite social media platform, only without the algorithm getting in the way, meaning you get to see everything and chime in with your positivity when you feel you want to. However, “Discord” allows a lot more than this, I intend building a community of like-minded people wishing to share their experiences to inspire others in a safe community space. I will be using our group to communicate exclusive content far more frequently with you all and will be able to respond to your questions a lot quicker. I believe by concentrating my efforts in this new group, we can build a strong, positive, and inspirational community who are able to help each other reach and exceed our goals, inspiring not only ourselves, but our families and friends in the process. However, Matty! This is just the start of my plans to reach out and inspire people as in 2023 I will be launching a lot of new and very exciting projects. Do keep an eye out for a forthcoming Podcast / Exclusive Discord Event explaining new inspiring directions, projects I will be bringing online and reasons why I have chosen this path.
Personally, I am very upbeat and excited as not only do I get to concentrate in one group, allowing me to connect with you all, I get to learn new skills to inspire you with and feel you too should be excited as you will be joining an elite community of like-minded people all striving for the same outcome. To inspire each other to inspire others.
I look forward to welcoming and meeting you all.
Let the inspiration begin!
For now, be safe, keep inspiring us and as always, do message me your thoughts.

Welcome to “Baldi’s Podcast”, a podcast hosted by survivor, internationally renowned lifelong Musician, Educator, Keynote Motivational Speaker, Podcaster, Videographer, Photographer, Writer and International Double Gold Medallist “Baldi”, AKA Amonn AL-Mahrouq encouraging you all to reach your full potential, pursue your dreams and inspire others along your journey.
Let me begin by asking, what have you been working on this last week? For me, I’ve be inspired for a number of reasons.
Firstly, Thank you all for your inspirational messages giving me ideas spurring me on to create more approachable, relevant and useful content. Taking off from a recent discussion over a coffee with a listener gave me an idea, which I will be exploring between now and the end of 2022. If successful, I aim to go live early in 2023, as my “New Year’s Resolution”. I can reveal this new project is one of the reasons I’ve been creating my “One Document”, only now, I am aware my project will extend much, much future than previously thought, thanks to an off hand comment. On reflection, it’s a perfect fit, just, I wasn’t able to join the dots until I enjoyed coffee and catch up. Really, it’s inspiring to talk!
In light of my new found direction, 2023 is shaping up to look like it will be my biggest and busiest years to date, offering you, the chance to work with me, and be inspired to inspire your family and friends to achieve their goals in ways I didn’t think possible until now. I’ll leave the finer details for a future cast, however rest assured something inspirational is being created.
To my “One Document” project, lots of progress has been achieved on this most crucial of documents, you’ll see why in a future cast. However, I am now proud to say, this document has landed in its “Bare Bones” form. Plenty of cross referencing still to be achieved before it goes live, and of course, over time, lots of additions and updates will be forthcoming reflecting current times. I can say, one is part of the other, they work together, and will be launched together. Exciting times ahead! Keep tuning in…
I throughly enjoyed both my “Piano” and “Figure Skating” practise and lessons, continuing to work towards inspiring you with future performances. I met up with my cousin for a round of oh, hang on, one of you was almost right when you said “Tennis”, great work! Actually, it’s the smaller version, you guessed it, “Table Tennis” which I’m very much enjoying. Piano has been challenging, however I feel I am making steady progress enjoying learning new, difficult and different works, perhaps for a future performance, we shall see.
Finally, thank you so much for all your Social Media connection requests, comments, messages and likes. If I’ve not yet connected with you or replied to your “Direct Message” / “Wall Comment”, I will soon.
Be safe, be productive, and be sure to tune in to my next Pod as I am hoping to introduce you to a fellow musician and all round inspiring person.
Winter arrived here in the United Kingdom these last few days, just perfect for me as I enjoy colder climates much more, however appreciate its not for everyone, how are you enjoying? Are you a Winter or Summer person? Do comment.
This past week has seen lots of inspiring change for the better within my world.
One,
Drastic improvements in my “One Document” scheme as I progress with my C.V document, which will eventually house everything except my inspirational book. Like any interesting, inspirational and crucial document, it’s a work in progress, one I feel will never be complete as I’m always looking to take on new activities, learn and do more enabling me to inspire myself, and you.
Secondly, yes, the rumours are correct, I have indeed taken up a new sport. Well, it’s not really new, just one I’ve never taken seriously. My Parents, Cousin and I have always played in the past, also I played a lot years ago whilst in Canada, however not at Club Level until now. Exciting times ahead I feel! Oh, just in case you are wondering, no, I’ve not dropped any of my other activities, as I still and very much enjoy inspiring you with Piano Recitals, Podcasting and Figure Skating.
Third and finally, tomorrow brings a long awaited meeting with an inspirational friend of mine where we will discuss and figure crossed begin planning and recording the first in a series of Podcasts.
Be safe, keep inspiring us, and messaging me your thoughts.

Where does the time go! I suppose the myth of “Time flies when you are having fun” really does ring true, doesn’t it?
2022 is the year, I’ve finally shrugged off the shackles and returned to “Figure Skating” after the pandemic stopped me in my tracks, the year I’ve completely overhauled my “Books Project” and the year I began my Podcast to inspire you all, however, I hear you ask, Baldi, you’ve been a little quiet recently, what’s up?
Yes, yes, I have, a few things,
Firstly, I’ve been slightly ill over the last few weeks, nothing serious and thankfully now back on track. I feel my down time has allowed me to catch up with all your messages and with inspiring Television Series like “Shetland” and “Ridley” aired here in the United Kingdom. I’m not sure about you, but I’m very much looking forward to forthcoming Series like “The Suspect”, “Doc Martin” and “The Capture” which all sound exciting, although I’m upset this will be the last “Doc Martin”. What are your thoughts if you are a fan?
Secondly, I feel my down-time has allowed me to rest and take detailed stock of where I am in life,
projects I’m currently working on and where I see my future both as a performer and creator. On the performance side, I’ll be adding something cool to my C.V very soon and look forward to sharing with you when I get my feet under the table so to speak. In terms of Piano performance, life has taken an interesting, however, I believe positive and different direction, certainly one which I am determined to embrace and make the most of.
Thirdly, I am pleased to have resumed a few projects began earlier this year, you know the ones I’ve not quite got around to completing. All I will say is, stay tuned for some exciting developments and announcements. Some of these projects include, my updated C.V, certain aspects of my “Books Project” and working out what to do with the mountains of writing snippets I’ve been collecting these past few years, think I’ve finally worked it out.
Finally, if you are in the Portsmouth, United Kingdom area and fancy Indian, I throughly recommend “Bombay Bay” for tasty, authentic, Indian food at reasonable prices. Their staff are friendly and amenable, although you have to wait, in my experience is a good sign and certainly well worth it.
Be safe, keep inspiring us, and messaging me your thoughts.

Another Hectic Week, written, produced and narrated by Baldi.
Thanks to Social Media, I accepted a surprise “Invitation To Connect” or in this case reconnect with a former School Teacher I’ve not seen for at least 30 years. Arriving early in the sprawling metropolis of “Woking”, Surrey, United Kingdom after enjoying and being inspired by my “Figure Skating” lessons and session, I quickly located the highly recommended family run “Season” Coffee shop opposite the train station. Ordering a Double Espresso and Fizzy Water, I located an outside table, and began reading in a position enabling me to watch the comings and goings of people of all descriptions entering and leaving the station. A few minutes later out of the corner of my eye, I saw a smart looking female waiter approaching in my direction carrying a wooden tray. No disappointment here! Excellent service, Organic Coffee and experiences allows me to add this Coffee Shop to my growing list of venues to return to and can highly recommend to you all.
In a flash, or so it seamed my alarm sounded alerting me to begin walking to our not so far away meeting place. Being my first visit to “Woking”, I left a little more time than Apple Maps said it would take, enabling me to take in the sights, sounds and gather my bearings. Studying the crowds, I thought I recognised someone, but alas false alarm, not this particular person. A few minutes later a familiar face strolled past and I did a double take, asking myself was this him? It’s been years, possibly, maybe I thought. Well when the same person walked past a few minutes later, I couldn’t resist calling out his name, and to my surprise this very same person looked around. Shaking me by the hand, we walked reminiscing about old days at school when I was knee high to a grasshopper, people we knew, directions we travelled in and all the things we have achieved since. Passing a local Market, I stopped to purchase fresh and very appetising looking Tomatoes, Cherries and Vegetables of all colours. Then in what seemed like an instant, another alarm sounded alerting me it was almost time to catch my train home, wow….time really does fly when you are enjoying yourself, doesn’t it? Reflecting on my throughly enjoyable day, meeting up again, after so long, I found my experience to be inspiring and positive. Certainly I will now look to re-connecting with more old friends in my future and believe you should too.
My second noticeably experience these last few weeks arrived in the form of an impromptu trip to “The Eastney Tavern”, Portsmouth, for lunch with family. Long time since I’ve been eaten here and wow, so much inspired change! The layout was as I remember, however a change of staff, decor, much improved menu and quality of food proved to be the icing on the cake. Coupled with attentive, quick waiter service at reasonable prices, I just had to return with my Cousin who was thankfully equally impressed. Two meals, in the same venue at two different times, both of equally impressive quality means I can wholeheartedly recommend this venue and will certainly be returning in my future.
Finally, I am reading and enjoying “Secret Societies, An Unbiased History of our Desire for Secret Knowledge” written by David V.Barrett whilst on trains, however, whilst exercising, tidying up, watering and exercising I am listening to “Peak Performance” Written by Brad Stulberg and Steve Magness both of which so far, I can throughly recommend. Which leaves me with my question for you all, “What will you achieve this week to inspire yourself and others?”.
Thanks for listening to today’s episode of “Baldi’s Podcast”, hosted and narrated by survivor, internationally renowned lifelong Musician, Educator, Keynote Motivational Speaker, Photographer, Writer, Podcaster, Producer and International Double Gold Figure Skating Medallist “Baldi”, A.K.A Amonn AL-Mahrouq, encouraging you all to reach your full potential, pursue your dreams, share your learning and inspire others along your life’s journey.
In response to your recent welcomed social media, text and e-mail comments, I agree time is valuable, which is why I’m pleased to say starting with my today’s cast I will be amending my Pod format to enable me to leave you even more inspired to reach your goals and inspire others along your life’s path in shorter, however, more regular sound bytes. Not only do I believe my new cast format will bring much needed Pod development, but will also allow you to profit by gaining the maximum information in the shortest possible time.
Whilst I’m on the subject of time, I very much appreciate and thank you all for removing yourself from your busy schedules to provide me feedback on my new introduction. Certainly, I will bear your thoughts in mind when I next update my Trailer.
If you are in the Portsmouth, United Kingdom area and appreciate Thai food, I can thoroughly recommend “Koi Thai”, situated on the corner of Kings Road serving delicious authentic food combined with an inspiring atmosphere and attentive waiter service at reasonable prices.
For me I’ve been most inspired by the Swimming, Gymnastics and Cycling in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, if you’ve been watching which event or events have inspired you?
In the meantime be safe, keep inspiring us, and messaging me your thoughts.

Baldi Moves Forwards
Welcome to “Baldi’s Podcast”, a podcast hosted by survivor, internationally renowned lifelong Musician, Educator, Keynote Motivational Speaker, Podcaster, Photographer, Writer and International Double Gold Medallist “Baldi”, AKA Amonn AL-Mahrouq encouraging you all to reach your full potential, pursue your dreams and inspire others along your journey.
The previous few weeks saw lots of dedicated, focused energy towards achieving my goal of learning the last remaining Piano exam piece in preparation for my forthcoming exam whilst adding icing to the others. On a quick coffee break a few days ago, I took time to look through and sight-read potential new music which I am thinking about adding to my concert repertoire and have decided to add the lovely second movement of “Leighton’s” Piano Sonata as I feel this piece will further enhance my concert repertoire. After spending some time learning, I can say, I am loving his bare melodies combined with rich, progressive harmonies and certainly in my future will be looking to learn and perform more of his inspiring works. My only comment is either he had huge hands or another person lent a hand in a fair few places, lol! Nevertheless, I encourage all you budding Pianists to look into learning his works, if for nothing else to enjoy your playing, performing, learn more about
exposed melodies, be refreshed and inspired.
Next up I have C.V news, which whilst I feel will never be complete, for obvious reasons!…. I’m not sure about you, but one of my goals is to always be developing and pushing myself forwards, adding to myskills set and refreshing old ones, I am pleased to say, I believe in its raw form, is now complete, however, the icing on the cake is yet to be added as I’m concentrating on perfecting repertoire for my forthcoming
Piano exam. Do keep your ears peals for more news regarding the distribution of this, most crucial document.
Moving forwards, later this year, I aim to launch new, exciting and challenging projects and have already taken steps to begin my journey. When the time arrives, launch offers may suddenly appear, so do keep your eyes and ears pealed, there’s a cure there somewhere, I feel sure of it. One of my most important first steps is to hold another, this time much more comprehensive digital clear out, making much needed room, which hopefully answers some of your questions of why am I posting twice a day on Social Media. Oh, and yes, I have a plan, and I am please to say, so far, so good.
Once I’m ready to take my next step, I will write, record and upload a pod informing you all of my upcoming journey and look forward to welcoming you all in on the action, which leads me nicely to say thank you so much for all your messages, comments and questions, do keep them flowing as I feel you are making a valuable contribution to my casts and your community.
Communication is king, is it not? So where did you go on “What’s App” Baldi, I hear you ask? Ah, very apt question, my short answer, I had to change phone number. Now, I am back on “What’s App” and “Facebook Messenger” for the time being, however constantly seeking to become more secure. If you are unsure as to what I’m referring too, all I will say is be mindful who holds your personal information and how they handle it. Another great question, I hear you ask, what does this mean for me? Don’t panic, rest assured I will get to your message, just a little slower than usual, however do bear with me and keep your comments flowing, thanks. Let me add, if you’d like to get hold of me urgently, do e-mail me, thanks for your understanding and patience. Whilst we are on the subject of messaging, let me answer another question that keeps popping up, namely “What is my most used Messaging Apps”, for the moment my answer is iMessage / Facebook / Linked In Messengers, however Zoom isn’t far behind, let’s wait and see what the future holds, as I feel this is an ever evolving, fast moving landscape which I’m sure constantly evolve.
Let me now turn to your question of “Writing Apps”. Personally, I like the simplest possible, with the most freedom to chose my operating system, device and file format. I also very much appreciate portability and ease of use therefore I chose to use “Text Edit” from Apple on my Mac in combination with both Apple’s own “Notes” and “Voice Recorder” Apps on IOS, because I feel these apps provide me with all the functionality I need for my current needs.
Yes, I have looked into using other “Text Editors” and have done so in the past, however, always return to the built in apps for the sake on quickness and convenience. Though for my forthcoming book series, I’m currently writing in “Mellel”, however, plan to move to more suitable apps as my direction of travel and goals continue to expand. I will of course keep you informed as I feel sure I can help you pinpoint the most suitable apps for your writing needs. Do message me your current workflow and apps as I’d be interested to know as a fellow writer.
In Skating news, I am very much enjoying my weekly sessions continuing working towards my Level 2 skills and rest of Level 1 tests, however, feel I must say over a Pandemic is the very worst time to change an entire syllabus in my opinion. Here’s me thinking I wasn’t too far away! Never mind, I feel it’s still great to be back Figure Skating, but, wonder how many adults will bother with future tests or even return to this most graceful sport? On the flip side the Rink is a little quieter, meaning more practice. I realise things must develop and be brought up to date, only question the timing, especially as Figure Skating is a tricky and time consuming sport. Moving onwards to other Rink news, I am delighted to wish someone (you know who you are!) at my rink a fantastic time whist travelling throughout South America this Summer, go safely and keep in touch!
The recent and unfortunate rail strikes here in the United Kingdom meant last week there was no Figure Skating for me, again I feel terrible timing for such things, however when life throws you lemons, I feel one must make Lemonade.
Piano practice was the order of the week combined with sorting of forthcoming photos for social posts, catching up with life, family, friends messages and achieving higher levels of fitness.
Wednesday afternoon saw a family outing to the historic Market Town of Petersfield, sampling their Market, followed by a crafty light lunch in one of our favourite restaurants “The Old Drum” located just off the main square in “Chapel Street”, which I can highly recommend for all your light eating needs. Lots of delicious looking fresh fruit and vegetables was purchased in their Market along with some fresh fish. Do comment, are you a fan of local markets?
In reading news, I am currently enjoying “The man Who Stole Jesus” written by Edwin Alexander. Have you read this wonderfully different short book? If you haven’t, don’t let the title fool you as all is certainly not as it seems. I will enlighten you more in future casts, however for now will say, if you’ve not read it, go find a copy and let me know your thoughts.
In a previous cast, I said I’d let you know how I was getting on with my new USB Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone. My thoughts are “A great microphone”, highly recommend to you all, and not I feel just for Podcasting as I’ve used this mic for Zoom, FaceTime and Microsoft Teams calls combined with voiceovers (is there another clue here I ask myself?). Whilst maybe I agree, a slightly more specialised microphone, certainly, I have found it to be an adaptable all round, great quality mic.
Last weekend saw inspiring walking expeditions in nature both with family and friends alike, which brings me to my final question for my episode today, what do you do to relax?

Thanks for continuing to follow my life experiences Pod.
In my today cast I’d like to discuss where I am currently, and where I will be headed in the future.
My static website and all accounts solely based on telephone numbers have now been removed leaving only those with a username, including the ubiquitous and popular messengers from Apple, LinkedIn and Facebook which I will continue to use to communicate with you all.
Thanks to everyone who has been asking about my “Posting” on Social, let me dispel any myths by saying, rest assured I will continue with inspiring photo and video content on both LinkedIn and Facebook, however, it is true my Twitter account has been removed due to the intense nature of the platform and my need for consolidation.
Which leads me nicely onto my potential future goals and ambitions enabling me to bring you the most inspiring content, however firstly, thanks for your questions, do keep them rolling in as you are the people allowing me to continue hosting my pod. In a word the rumours are true, I am thinking of potentially starting a YouTube Channel next year as I not only feel this will compliment my current Pod, but will also allow me to broaden my skillset even further and compliment my current workflow recording schedule as all I will need to change is the actual recording aspect of my casts.
Due to recent changes, a number of you have been asking about the methods of communication I prefer in 2022. To the future I am looking as video conferencing and calling is my number one choice. Yes, I still believe in good old fashion voice telephone calls and text messaging, however, I feel one must move with the times. Some of us are lucky enough to have a 5G mobile Phone or iPad / Laptop connection allowing us to work just about anywhere, thus I believe one should utilise technology to personally inspire as many people as possible. In this vein, you will now find me on IMessage (FaceTime), Microsoft Teams and Skype, LinkedIn and Facebook Messenger as I believe these 21st Century apps will allow me to become more productive, contactable and responsive, which begs my question what is your preferred method of contact? Do comment.
In an update to a previous cast, I said I’d let you know how I was getting on with my new USB Audient interface. A few months of continual use has led me to only one conclusion, I highly recommend this forward looking audio interface and the many possibilities it will afford me.
In reading news, I can recommend “Ramses - The Son of The Light” by Christian Jacq for all of you who like well written stories, and delving into our ancient past.
To news of my forthcoming “C.V / Media Pack”. Great strides have been made on completing this single document, however, I have work to do cross referencing items and adding new one. The break up of other documents has both opportunity and caution attached! Once complete, I will of course let you all know and enable downloads.
To rink news, last week unfortunately was closed for repairs, however I see this as a positive as it afforded me a mini-break to concentrate on my Piano and crucially allowed me to improve my levels of fitness. Train strikes loom yet again in the U.K meaning, how much rink time I will get in the next few months is debatable. This said, I am very much looking forward to going in this week to enjoy my inspiring lessons and catch ups with you all. Currently I’m in the process of choosing new music for my forthcoming test which fingers crossed I may sit later this year. Suffice to say, there will be I’m sure many challenges ahead, however, feel it’s wonderful to be back.
With regards to Piano exam pieces news, I am aware I have a lot of practice ahead to achieve, however, having now learnt all the notes of all pieces, I feel it’s now time to put the icing on the cake, so to speak in terms of polish. In the not too distant future, I intend to start looking at new pieces and planning some mini-recitals for those of you lucky enough to attend in person, however in the meantime, am chugging away loving every minute.

How have your last two weeks treated you?
I’ve been quietly productive working towards achieving the goals I’ve set for myself this month, including completing “Think and Grow Rich” written by Napoleon Hill, a book I can highly
recommend to you all.
In Figure Skating news, after a two and a half year covid related gap, l finally returned to the ice. Getting up at 5am seemed alien after so long, however, I quickly remembered how inspiring it
feels to see our sun rise ushering in a new day full of countless opportunities. Arriving at my local station for my train at 06.15am felt a little like afternoon, however, after catching up with crew
and station staff I quickly felt old times had returned. Remembering roughly the same carriage as I always sat in pre-covid times proved quite a challenge, however, walking through the train I
quickly recognised and smiled at people with familiar faces whilst sipping Coffee, thankfully they not only smiled back, but also seemed to recognise my face, greeting me with phrases like “Good
morning Stranger” and “Long time no see” which thankfully alerted me to when I was roughly in the right seating area.
After an enjoyable catch up, punctuated by bits of reading, I arrived, stopping off at “FCB Coffee” on the platform to say “Hello!”, introduced myself to the inevitable new staff, and recounted the last two or so years worth of news with older staff, all the while being sure to keep an eye on the station clock so as not to miss my onward connection. This time a far shorter journey followed by a leisurely, and inspiring stop start walk across the beautiful “Stoke Park” enjoying more catch ups with both humans and dog acquaintances alike until I arrived at the rink to find an entirely new set of reception staff who informed me lessons were now 30 minutes each, instead of 15, which suits me even better - well….why carry around more sheets of paper than necessary, which begs my question, do you like paper receipts and tickets or are you like me, wanting everything E? Do let me know.
Descending to the rink, brought back floods of many happy memories of my achievements and “Rink Family” which only made me even more eager to boot up and get back on ice, after even more catching up, of course. Having forgotten just how long “Booting Up” actually takes, I tentatively ventured ice side with the assistance of my coaches and throughly enjoyed my session, although felt a little unsure of just what my legs were up to some of the time! Thankfully no falls, always a great start, don’t you think and not too bad considering so much time away. Even more catch up ice side presented itself as well as a few comments from me like, “Wow, this really is slippery!”, which admittedly could have be due to my blunt figure skating blades and, cool so many new faces! Overall, my first experience back felt joyous especially as I was doing something I love. Onwards and upwards…..here’s to my future ice time and achievements! Which leads me to ask, what have you achieved these last few weeks to inspire yourself, your nearest and dearest and others? Do comment by sending an email by taping the mail icon located towards the bottom of the page, thanks!
In other news, these last few weeks has seen lots of progress compiling, writing, and editing my new “Media Pack” which replaces my current static website and C.V from 1 June, 2022. Incidentally, this is the very same date I will be closing my “Twitter” account, therefore, do bookmark, this, my podcasting site (https://www.amonnalmahrouq.com) to hear all my latest news and forthcoming inspiring activities. Which reminds me, everything being equal, I will be attending my old school “Sibford School” reunion as “Reunion Secretary” on Saturday June 18, which I’m very much looking forward to. If you are an old scholar, thinking of attending, would be lovely to meet and catch up with you all, especially now I’m on your committee.
Aside from the bare structure, this last week, I have begun populating my forthcoming “Media Pack” with essential information and will of course continue to develop this crucial document over time eventually merging all websites and documents into this one easy to consume version. I will of course be keeping this, my Podcasting site moving forwards as I am aiming for it to become the centre piece of my web presence.
Finding myself again in our Capital City, London last week, I enjoyed a productive day despite the increasingly heavy traffic, very dirty fumes and many interesting road closures. Visiting my old University, located just off “Bond Street” and hospital buildings, taking photos for my forthcoming book series amongst other interesting ongoing projects, which I will expand on in future casts. I felt pleased to see both buildings intact and to see London slowly regaining people, however, sad learning these once inspiring buildings are now being used for entirely different purposes. How do you feel about re-purposing buildings?
A long overdue upgraded audio Interface to replace my ageing “Focusrite Scarlett 2i4” has arrived meaning I am able to better streamline my production workflow and produce higher quality Audio content. I will let you know how I’m progressing in a future cast, however my initial impressions of “Audient” studio equipment is encouraging, impressive and very positive.
Last Saturday saw my Cousin and “Poppy" arrive for our adventure to “Petersfield”. Just a quick few words on “Poppy”, she’s an adorable Golden Retriever cross and a joy to be around. Lunch was set to be in a Pizza restaurant, because Baldi here won a voucher a few months back, however upon enquiring we found they were not dog friendly, so I politely explained, if Poppy wasn’t allowed in, then her humans we also not going in. Eventually we found a quaint, out of the way hotel which had a lovely courtyard outside restaurant attached where we all enjoyed a light lunch before heading off for more adventures. Passing “Petersfield Town Square” where each Saturday they hold a “Farmers Market” we were lured in by the smell combined with vibrant colours and felt obliged to sample then purchase locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables. Personally, I would love to see more farmers markets selling locally grown produce, wouldn’t you?
Onwards by foot we progressed towards Poppy’s favourite place, a pond just outside Petersfield, Hampshire, U.K which once in, Poppy will do everything she knows never to get out. However, after a cool off, super massive swim, oh and the promise of return combined with an inspirational walk in nature we returned to our car via a local ice cream vendor, which was enjoyed by all. In total, we, Poppy’s humans racked up around 6 miles this fine day, however, I’m sure Poppy must have walked at least 10, perhaps more.
In Piano news, currently I am very much enjoying practicing for my Grade 8 and Advanced Certificate Exams in amongst learning new works for performance later this year and on into next. At the moment, I have no concrete concert plans, however, am in constant communication with a few venues for potential recitals later this year, do continue to watch this space for updates.
Finally, to Pod news, I have heard from my friend who will be making an appearance on a forthcoming Pod. Unfortunately he’s been a little under the weather recently hence plans have stalled a little, however, I wish him all the very best for a speedy recovery and look forward to meeting up soon to finalise details and begin recording our forthcoming cast. In the meantime, I have been in touch with other friends who have asked if they could make an appearance and we are in the process of sorting through plans. Do stay tuned for further updates!

A busy April
Welcome to “Baldi’s Podcast”, a podcast hosted by survivor, internationally renowned lifelong Musician, Educator, Keynote Motivational Speaker, Writer and International Double Gold Medallist “Baldi”, AKA Amonn AL-Mahrouq encouraging you all to reach your full potential, pursue your dreams and inspire others along your journey.
How did April treat you? For me, I’ve enjoyed my busiest month this year, with things set only to become busier I’ve taken to planning and writing Pod scripts on the wherever and whenever I am able to.
Personally, I feel, it’s always great to communicate as concisely as possible. In this vein and taking off from my previous Pod “The Future Arrives”, I’ve lots of exciting plans and explanations ahead, without future ado, let’s jump in.
The main reason behind the plans I am now implementing is they enable me to streamline my workflow even future, freeing up vital time for me to challenge myself with my Piano, recommence my Figure Skating and to implement my future plans to inspire you all, to which I will now turn, however first.
Towards the end of April an opportunity for a trip to London presented itself, which I readily took as it’s been so long since I’ve been in our Nations Capital. Once arriving, we passed a pleasant day which proved to be both informative and constructive. During our trip, we passed and waved at some of the many buildings of my old University (Trinity College of Music), still a Uni, however, different and whilst walking marvelled at how quickly London changes. Being country people, compared with London, we thankfully noted with much surprise and delight cleaner air, however, still lots of hoots from traffic! Typically, the train on our return journey was packed to the rafters, so no change there!
Let me now turn to future plans. As of June 1, 2022, my static web site and Twitter account will no longer exist, therefore, please bookmark this, my Podcasting site to hear about future plans and exciting Pods in the works. Do also bear with me whilst I not only transition to one site, however also move e-mail address and Office Suites at the same time. Yes, I’m aware of the saying “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it”, and in many ways my system is far from broken, however, currently I have many apps for many tasks and need to consolidate my workflow into the most efficient.
Current logic says, as and when existing subscriptions run their course, I will move to combine as much as possible into as few subscriptions as possible. Currently, my deadline is November of this year to consolidate note taking, writing Apps and e-mail accounts.
In Podcasting news, I have completed adding written transcripts to all existing casts and will endeavour to add to all new moving forwards. I will keep a text only copy locally, ensuring I am not leaving behind any of my followers who prefer blog posts.
Currently, I am working on creating a pdf Media Pack. Moving forwards, I aim to update this document regularly which is why for the moment it will be available only via e-mail request, thanks for your understanding.
In other news, I have now completed setting up and verifying my Google Workspace account, which I shall endeavour to use moving forwards. Thankfully, this online suite combines not only my note taking, calendar, reminders and document creation, but also online document and file space, and, crucially e-mail. Moving everything to Google Workspace I believe will allow me to shed even more subscriptions thus consolidate apps and dramatically improve my workflow.
Highly recommended if you are in the Portsmouth, United Kingdom area and want a quick bite of Middle Eastern food is “Leila Mezza” dot com, who serve great authentic food at reasonable prices, combined with lovely atmosphere, ambiance and non pushy staff.
