When Jesus said IT IS FINISHED  he was referring to his sacrificial death on the cross to pay for all of the sins we have committed and the ones in the future. He was effectively saying to us that our sins are never to be remembered any more  they are as far as the east is from the west.  Jesus by saying it is finished was saying to us that His crucifixion was signed, sealed and delivered and we are His.
