Sean has extensive experience in the field of education, in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors, and is skilled at creating exceptional learning experiences.
Sean started his educational career at Riverdale Country School, a nationally-renowned private school in the Bronx, NY. In his 14 years at Riverdale, he became its Director of Academic Technology and Chair of Computer Science. Among other accomplishments, he built the school’s first and only long-term continuing education program for teachers; implemented the school’s first emergency contact system; and rebuilt and reinvigorated its Computer Science curriculum (increasing enrollment by 800%). While at Riverdale, Sean received his Master's degree in Instructional Technology and Media from Teacher’s College, Columbia University.

At Riverdale, Sean realized he was more passionate about education than about educational technology, and put that into practice in his next job as Director of Teacher Training for Flatiron School where he built Flatiron’s educational philosophy, teacher training program, peer observation, and feedback program, and its first podcast, Pursuing Mastery. Then he joined ThriveDX as its first Senior Director of Education, where he built the company's educational philosophy, operationalized its teacher training, established and built its Education Department, and launched its first podcast, The Future of Professional Education.

After nearly 20 years in the field of education, Sean now runs his own consulting business, effectivEDU, which helps teachers and presenters land unforgettable messaging and transformational learning. He is currently producing his third podcast, Ways We Learn (available anywhere you get your podcasts). And he is thoroughly enjoying life in the NYC suburbs with his wife and two daughters.
