The years of his presidency are commonly referred to as the "Golden Years" of the Philippines. During this time, the Philippines' economy thrived, the military performed admirably, and the country's sports teams, cultural traditions, and foreign policy were recognized around the globe. The Philippines placed second on a list of the most orderly and well-managed Asian nations. Magsaysay's time in office was supposed to end on December 30, 1957, but a plane crash cut it short.
