How do we faithfully approach Scripture?

One of the biggest reasons people struggle with the Bible isn't because they don't love God—it's because they haven't been given the right lens to read it.

The Bible isn't one kind of book. It's a library filled with stories, poetry, law, wisdom, prophecy, letters, and apocalyptic literature. Each genre communicates truth differently, inviting us not only to learn something, but to be transformed by it. What makes the Bible so extraordinary is that within it lives all the genres of the human experiences.

Here are a few highlights from the message:

Genre is more than a category—it's a set of reading instructions.
Different genres ask different things of us. A Psalm shouldn't be read like Proverbs, and Revelation shouldn't be read like Romans.
God didn't give us one kind of book because we don't encounter truth in only one way.
The Bible doesn't simply give us information—it recruits every part of us into the encounter.
Faithful reading begins by allowing the Bible to tell us how it wants to be read.

Our hope is that as we learn to read Scripture on its own terms, we'll not only understand it more deeply—we'll encounter the God who continues to speak through it.

At Studio, we want to be a place where God and people meet and to be a people known for our love. That kind of love doesn't happen by accident. It grows as we encounter Jesus and become more like Him.

One of the greatest things Jesus changes isn't simply what we believe. He changes how we see and engage with people.

Our world is quick to categorize, divide, and label. Before we know it, we stop seeing people and start seeing differences.

Sin constantly reduces people. God always restores people.

When we look at Jesus, we see a different way to live. He walked toward people. He shared meals with them. He listened. He healed. He touched the people everyone else avoided. Jesus was accessible, tender, humble, and He drew near. He crossed cultural and social boundaries because love was always greater than labels.

As His followers, He's inviting us to do the same. To live a life of honor, respect and great value for each other. Honor says, “I don't have to agree with everything about someone to recognize the image of God in them.”

Every person we meet carries immeasurable value because they were created in the image of God. What if we slowed down enough to really see people? What if we chose curiosity over assumption, honor over judgment, and love over fear?

This week, ask the Lord, "Who have I stopped seeing?"

Then take one simple step. Ask God what He loves about them. Start a conversation. Listen to someone's story. Encourage someone. Pray for them.

This Sunday we explored one powerful question: Does my view of God's goodness shape how I see my circumstances, or do my circumstances shape how I see God's goodness?

Looking at the life of Daniel, we discovered that Babylon wasn't evidence that God had abandoned him—it was evidence that God was already at work in places no one expected. While many of us tend to measure God's goodness by comfort, answered prayers, or favorable circumstances, Daniel's life reminds us that God's greatest promise has never been a problem-free life. His greatest promise is His presence.

When we believe God is only good when life goes the way we planned, we spend our energy trying to escape difficult places. But when we know His goodness is rooted in the reality that He is with us, and we are in Him, we become free to walk into hard places with hope, courage, and love.

What if we've spent so much time asking God who we're supposed to love that we've overlooked the people He's already placed in our everyday lives?

Just as Jesus entered the darkness rather than avoiding it, we are called to carry His presence into our neighborhoods, workplaces, friendships, and communities. The world may never believe that God is with them until they encounter people who are deeply convinced that He is.

May we stop asking, "God, why am I here?" and begin asking, "God, who are You?" Because when we know who He is, we'll begin to see people the way He does, and love them accordingly.

This past Sunday we kicked off a new series by asking a few simple questions:

What kind of relationship do you have with the Bible?

Many people believe the Bible is boring, confusing, or difficult to understand. But what if the issue isn't the Bible itself?

We looked at seven common reasons people struggle to read the Bible and discovered that behind each one is an invitation to see Scripture in a fresh way.

Here are a few ideas we explored:

The Bible isn't one book—it's a library telling one unified story of God, humanity, redemption, and new creation.
Different books are meant to be read differently. Poetry, history, prophecy, wisdom, and letters each invite us to read with different expectations.
The Bible isn't competing with unbelief as much as it's competing with distraction.
Scripture wasn't just written to inform us—it was given to transform us.
The goal isn't simply to know more about God, but to encounter the God who still speaks through His Word.

Our prayer is that every one of us would experience our own Luke 24 moment—where Jesus opens the Scriptures, our eyes are opened, and our hearts burn within us.

We're all on a journey of becoming. Every season is shaping us. The only question is... who are we becoming? When life feels hard or uncertain, it's easy to find ourselves praying, "Lord... when is this going to change?" I've prayed that more times than I can count. But what if God is inviting us to ask a different question? What if this season isn't just about what you're going through... but about what God is growing in you?

"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." - James 1:2-4 NKJV

James reminds us that God doesn't waste our seasons. He uses them to grow our faith, deepen our trust, and make us more like Jesus. The season may not be easy, but it isn't empty.

So here's the challenge for all of us this week: Instead of praying, "Lord, get me out," pray, "Lord, what are You growing in me?" Look for His presence before His answers. Take a moment each day to thank Him for where you see His goodness. Gratitude has a way of opening our eyes to His faithfulness and provision. Our prayer is that we would become people who continue to trust God more - not because life is always easy, but because we know His character. Let's keep trusting God in every season and becoming more like Jesus.

This Sunday we continued our series on Favor by exploring what it means to have favor with man. Luke tells us that Jesus "grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man" (Luke 2:52). While we've spent much of this series talking about God's favor toward us—His delight, love, and covenant faithfulness—we shifted our attention to the reality that favor also exists in our relationships with people.

One of the biggest takeaways for me is that favor with man is less about charisma and more about character. Throughout Scripture, favor seems to grow around qualities like wisdom, humility, integrity, faithfulness, stewardship, and service. We often ask, "How do I get people to notice me?" but the better question may be, "How do I become the kind of person people can trust?" Many of the opportunities, partnerships, responsibilities, and open doors in our lives are connected to trust.

We see throughout Scripture that both favor with God and favor with man matter. God's favor is received by grace, but favor with man is often cultivated through character. As we continue to follow Jesus, may we become people who are not only secure in God's love but also trustworthy in the eyes of those around us.

This week at STUDIO, we welcomed back Nate Edwardson, from The Stirring in Redding, California. He took us into 1 Samuel 16, where God chooses David to be the next king of Israel.

At the heart of this story lies a profound truth: before God anoints a new generation, He first heals the spiritual fathers and mothers who will pour into them. The prophet Samuel is stuck in mourning over Saul's failure, unable to move forward until God speaks these transformative words: 'You've mourned long enough.” This passage challenges us to examine whether we're allowing past disappointments to define our future.

Nate’s talk reminds us that we cannot anoint what God is doing next while we're still standing over yesterday's graves. God is raising up a generation of people after His own heart, but He needs healed, whole, and oil-filled leaders to recognize and release them. The call is clear: it's time to leave the cave of disappointment, become renewed in His Spirit, and position ourselves to see those who God has already prepared in the next generation.

This past Sunday we continued our conversation on favor and looked at one of the most fascinating verses in the life of Jesus:

"And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." (Luke 2:52)

For years I've read that verse and wondered: How does Jesus grow in favor with God if He is already fully loved by the Father?

What emerged was a framework that has helped me think about favor in a deeper way.

Covenant Favor reminds us who we are to God. We are loved, wanted, welcomed, and accepted. This favor is rooted in God's nature, not our performance.

Formational Favor asks what God is doing in us. Throughout Scripture, favor often leads people into seasons of formation. Joseph, David, Moses, Mary, and even Jesus all experienced this reality. Favor didn't remove the process—it worked through it.

Entrusted Favor asks what God is inviting us to carry. As we grow in wisdom, maturity, humility, and faithfulness, God entrusts us with greater responsibility, influence, and opportunity.

The challenge is that many of us collapse all favor into one category. We assume bigger platforms, greater influence, or more visible success means more favor. But Scripture paints a different picture. The favor of God begins with belonging and often matures into entrustment.

My prayer for all of us this week is that we would stay rooted in covenant favor—God's love and delight toward us—while remaining open to the formation and entrustment He has for our lives.

This past Sunday we talked about Favor — and how many of us have misunderstood it. We often think favor means success, open doors, influence, or easy circumstances. But Psalm 30:5 reveals something much deeper: favor is first about God’s posture toward us. His face turned toward us with delight, nearness, goodwill, and love.

One of the most important ideas from the talk was this: pain can coexist with favor. David says, “weeping may endure for the night…” meaning hardship does not mean God has withdrawn His favor. Favor is not merely about outcomes — it’s about living aware that God is for you, with you, and near you.

When we become secure in God’s favor, fear loosens its grip, striving begins to fade, and we stop living like abandoned people. My prayer this week is simple: that you would truly believe God’s face is turned toward you and he delights in you.

This past Sunday Eric shared a personal message about four things his mom taught him over the course of her life. Four years after her passing, her life still continues to shape his in profound ways.

• Create Space for Becoming — She created environments where people could discover who God made them to be instead of pressuring them to become something else.

• Always Worship — Worship wasn’t just a Sunday activity to her; it was a lifestyle of continually turning her attention toward God and relinquishing control.

• Be Stealthy in Prayer & Generosity — She prayed with joy, gave quietly, and impacted countless people without needing recognition.

• Trust in God — At the center of her life was a deep trust in God. It shaped the way she prayed, loved, worshipped, and lived.

Our prayer is that we would become people marked by worship, joy, generosity, and trust in God.

This Sunday’s message, “The Y in the Wilderness,” reminded us that wilderness seasons often bring us to a fork in the road—a choice between striving in our own strength or trusting in God’s promise.

Through the story in Galatians 4, we saw the contrast between Hagar, representing performance and self-reliance, and Sarah, representing grace and the fulfillment of God’s promises. So often, we feel pressure to earn what only God can give, but His promises were never dependent on our performance. Even in seasons that feel barren, empty, or delayed, God is still at work beneath the surface, bringing life in ways we cannot yet see.

The challenge for us is personal: will we trust what we can control, or surrender to what only God can do? As we move forward, may we choose the path of promise—letting go of striving and walking in the freedom of His love, even when it requires trust in the unknown.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been walking through Why Church? Why Gather?—and this Sunday we turned the corner and asked a more personal question: Why Studio?

We didn’t start Studio because the world needed another church. We started it because we believed something essential was missing—that faith and life were never meant to be separated. Studio is a place where God and people meet, where we don’t just learn about Him, but encounter Him together. It’s a space where faith becomes seamless—where your work, your creativity, your relationships, and your city all matter to God. We’re not trying to escape the world… we’re learning how to engage it and participate in its renewal.

At the heart of Studio is a vision to form a people—not just gather a crowd. A people who are alive in God, devoted to Jesus, and curious in their pursuit of Him. A people who carry both conviction and empathy—deeply rooted in holiness, while fully present with humanity. This is who we are. And the invitation is simple: not just to attend, but to belong, to become, and to help build a home where heaven and earth meet.

This week we stepped into the resurrection story in Luke 24 and heard the question that still echoes today: “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” From the very beginning, God’s heart has always been about relationship. In the Garden, He walked with humanity—close, present, near. Sin didn’t just make us guilty, it created distance. But the entire story of Scripture is God relentlessly moving toward His people, refusing to give up on relationship, making a way for restoration.

The cross deals with sin—but it was never the end goal. The resurrection reveals what God was after all along: life with Him again. If we reduce the gospel to sins forgiven, we stop at the doorway. But the invitation is deeper—into communion, into nearness, into relationship restored. From the Garden to the empty tomb to the Spirit within us, the story has always been this: God didn’t just want to forgive you—He wanted you back.

We are on a journey of rediscovering our why: Why Church, Why Gather, Why Studio.

As Simon Sinek says, “People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe.”

We are continuing to dig into Why We Gather because, at a basic level, gathering is a core value and priority for a disciple and follower of Christ, as well as a pathway to life and experiencing God. We weren’t created to do life alone - we were created to gather. If we don’t understand why, we won’t value what. In a world where we have more ways to connect than ever before, many are still experiencing deep loneliness and disconnection. It’s not just a social issue, it’s a human one. We are wired for love, belonging, and connection with God and with one another.

But it’s not just about showing up, it’s about how we show up. Because community doesn’t just happen, it’s something we build together. And this is the kind of community we are becoming: a place where people are seen, valued, and connected.

This past Sunday we were privileged to hear from Jeremy Gagnon, as he shared his passion for the bible and provoked us to dig into Seeing the Face of God as we read The Word.

The Scriptures aren’t just information, but they’re meant to transform us. Often, we come to the Bible with our modern lens, which can be like trying to “bring an iPhone into the Middle Ages.” Instead of letting the text speak, we unintentionally reshape it to fit how we understand the world today.

Jeremy challenged us to see the Bible as art - intentional, layered, and deeply connected.

God has so much depth and we can find this more and more as we read the bible. And as we slow down, ask better questions, and stay curious… we begin to see something deeper:

Our heart is to be a people who know how to bible, encounter God as we read, and to anchor our lives in His truth.

This week, take your time in Scripture. Be curious. Ask questions. Pay attention. Be shaped by the living word of God.

As we continued week five of our "Why Church" series, we explored some challenging yet transformative truths about gathering as the body of Christ. This sermon explored the biblical and historical foundations for why we gather on Sundays and how our approach to gathering has shifted from the early church to today. We examined the difference between attending out of obligation versus gathering because Christ is risen, and how the modern era has moved us toward individualized faith rather than embodied community. The implications for our spiritual life are profound—when we understand that following Jesus means constantly pushing past boundaries rather than arriving at a destination, and when we come together with intentional hearts prepared to meet with God and each other, we resist the cultural pull toward isolation and step into the design Jesus intended for His people.

As we move forward, I want to encourage you to take one practical step in the weeks to come: before you gather—whether on Sunday, in a home group, or in daily community—take 20 seconds to prepare your heart. Examine what needs to be made right, forgive where needed, and come with intention to meet with God and His people.

Remember, this is an invitation to follow Jesus more deeply, not an obligation to fulfill. Let's continue to build a culture marked by humility, quick forgiveness, and reverence for the presence of Jesus among us.

This week in our series Why Church? Why Gather? Why Studio? We stepped into a deeper conversation often called ecclesiology—the study of the church. At the heart of the message was a simple but important question: Can formation and maturity happen in isolation? Scripture makes something clear—while salvation is deeply personal, it was never meant to be lived out alone. In a culture shaped by “me, myself, and I,” the Bible continually invites us into something bigger: a people, a body, a shared life where faith grows through belonging and proximity.

The book of Hebrews gives us three movements that capture this beautifully: let us draw near to God, let us hold fast to hope, and let us consider one another—stirring each other toward love and good works. Faith can exist in isolation, but formation cannot. We grow when we gather, when we encourage one another, and when we intentionally help each other become more like Christ. The church was never designed as a place to simply receive spiritual content—it’s a community that sustains faith, strengthens courage, and keeps hope alive.

This week we continued our series “Why Church? Why Gather? Why Studio?” with a simple but important realization: we are Western people reading an Eastern book. Most of us don’t realize the tension that creates. We live in a culture that begins with “I”—my faith, my truth, my relationship. But the Bible was written in a world that began with “we.” Identity wasn’t self-determined; it was covenantal. Belonging came before choosing.

That’s why the church isn’t just a group of individuals who share beliefs. It’s a people, a body, a dwelling place of God. You can belong to Christ without gathering—but you cannot live out the full biblical vision of the church without it. The tension you feel isn’t confusion; it’s invitation—to rediscover belonging and be formed together.

Have you ever done something for so long that you forget why you’re doing it in the first place? This is called ritual drift. Over time, we can fall into habits and rhythms without remembering the original purpose behind them.

This past Sunday, we began a new series titled “Why Church? Why Gather? Why Studio?” We took time to revisit what the church actually is—because when we understand what it is, we begin to understand why it matters.

One of the things Jesus did was take an existing word in His culture—ekklesia—and reframe it. He shifted the center of gravity from an assembly built around civic duty and national identity to a people gathered around Him. The church was no longer just a gathering of citizens; it became a community formed by and centered on Christ.

As we continue this series, we invite you to lean in with fresh eyes and an open heart. Let’s not drift into routine—let’s rediscover the beauty and purpose of gathering around Jesus together.

For STUDIO’s 4th Birthday Celebration, we welcomed back Julian Adams. He spoke from Luke 5:17-26, which tells the story of four faithful friends who broke through a roof to bring their paralyzed companion before Jesus. Julian’s main point was this: we are living in a season where 'the power of the Lord is present to heal.' This isn't just a historical observation—it's a prophetic declaration over our current moment. We were challenged to examine which of three groups we belong to: the crowd of spectators who gather but never engage, the Pharisees who critique from their assumed positions of authority, or the four men of audacious faith who break through every barrier to encounter Jesus.

Julian also pointed out that Luke records Jesus saying 'rise' using the Greek word for resurrection. This reveals something profound—this miracle was a preview of the resurrection power that would soon be available to all believers. Jesus invites us to move beyond theory and theology into demonstration and encounter. The paralyzed man picked up the very thing that had defined his shame and walked home glorifying God. What are we carrying that has defined us? What ceilings of limitation are we willing to break through?

We're being called into a season of community faith, where together we believe for things that individually seem unreachable. Faith operates only in the realm of the impossible. The question isn't whether God is moving—He clearly is—but whether we'll step into the audacious faith required to participate in what He's doing.

This year we are responding to God calling us to expand our territory and take ground - not just around us, but within us. We’re turning four as a church, and this feels like a holy growing-up season. It’s a good time to be alive, to mature and step into all that God has for us. For us to do this we want to get more free.

Freedom is not something we get apart from God - we get it when we step into truth, light and relationship with Him.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. - Jn 8:32

Freedom in Jesus doesn’t mean a pain-free life. It means a life no longer ruled by fear, shame, lies, or hidden places.

The very fact that you can dream, imagine, and look ahead is evidence that you were designed for the future. Scripture is filled with moments of stepping into the new—moving from glory to glory, crossing rivers, leaving what’s familiar—and we believe this year holds that same invitation for us. As Prayer and Fasting begins, we’re creating space to listen, to reset our posture, and to let hope shape what’s next.

This Sunday we talked about holding two ideas together: Taking Ground and Enlarging Territory. One calls us to move into what is not yet ours; the other calls us to grow in capacity for what has already been entrusted to us. When held together, they push back against shame, deception, and apathy—and open us to the promises of God. Like Jabez, we’re choosing to believe that our past does not define our future, and that God is eager to bless, expand, and walk with us as we move forward.

We’re stepping into this year believing there is no stagnation—only seasons of movement and seasons of growth. Let’s take ground together, enlarge our hearts, and trust that God is already at work in what’s ahead.

This Sunday, we slowed down a familiar story and discovered just how disruptive it really was. In Luke 2, the announcement of Jesus’ birth may have taken only about 30 seconds, but in that moment the veil between heaven and earth thinned, time seemed to pause, and everything changed. What looked small—a baby in a manger, an announcement to shepherds—was actually God making a move that would shake the universe. While everyone else was expecting a king on a throne, God introduced the birth of Jesus, first to shepherds.

Luke, the only Gospel writer to include the shepherds, wants us to see something essential: God does not see humanity through social status, credibility, or influence. He sees us through availability. Shepherds—considered culturally unreliable and untrustworthy—became the first witnesses and the first evangelists of the Messiah. From the very beginning, the gospel revealed itself to be upside-down, surprising, and deeply hopeful.

This story may be two thousand years old, but it’s still unfolding. The question it leaves us with is simple: Are we available and are we paying attention to when God moves in ways we didn’t expect? May our hunger for God grow, our expectations be reshaped, and our hearts stay open to the kind of Kingdom that still turns the world upside down.

In this episode reissue, Pastor Eric reminds us that the birth of Jesus is not an isolated moment—it’s a pivotal chapter in the much bigger story God has been writing since the beginning. Scripture is full of hints and shadows pointing toward His arrival and His mission for humanity. But here’s something we often overlook: Jesus spent the first two years of His life in exile.

Matthew 2:13 tells us:

“When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. ‘Get up,’ he said, ‘take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.’”

We talk a lot about the humble beginnings of Jesus, but we rarely pause to consider that He also lived as a refugee—away from home, outside of society, treated as a foreigner. From the very start, He experienced what it feels like to be on the margins. This shaped His heart and ministry, and it’s part of why He understood so deeply the pain of the outcast, the rejected, the shamed, the lonely, and the overlooked.

So this Christmas, remember this: Jesus doesn’t just understand your story from a distance. He knows what it feels like to be alone and on the outside. Our prayer is that as we celebrate His birth, you would sense Him coming not only into the world but into your world—meeting you exactly where you are and bringing His presence, comfort, and hope into your life today.

We pray you are filled with joy as we step into this month of celebrating Jesus - God born among us and changing our human story forever. We have so much to rejoice in and to give thanks for. The holiday season is often filled with gatherings, celebrations and yummy food, and we pray that in the midst of it all, you are able to enjoy the richness of life that we have in Christ!

Psalm 23:5 (TPT) says, “You become my delicious feast.” David knew God deeply—he loved Him, followed Him, and trusted Him. He didn’t just worship God from a distance; he experienced God through His daily provision. We want to be like David—learning to feast on who God is. Because when we do, God forms a joy in us that no circumstance can steal.

“How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.” —Psalm 36:7–9 NIV

What better way to celebrate Jesus than to take time today to feast on who God is? His love is extravagant, His peace is abundant, and He is fully accessible to all who come to Him.

Feasting starts with small choices:

Pausing to thank Him
Opening your Bible
Turning your affection toward Him
Breathing in His presence
Telling Him the Truth about your heart
Letting Him meet you where you actually are

As you know, we can get scars on our bodies from injuries and medical procedures. There are other kinds of scars that no one can see but anyone around you will experience them. Let’s call them Mental Scars, these scars develop when painful and hard circumstances take place in our life. Science is showing us that mental scars actually build up scar tissue in our brain.

When mental scar tissue develops in the brain essentially what is taking place is your brain rewires itself and becomes more rigid. It’s a self protective mechanism to reduce the odds of experiencing the pain again. When scar tissue develops in the brain it can make your brain hyperactive, leading to constant fear and anxiety. Part of your brain shrinks in ways that can cause problems with memory and learning. It also makes it more difficult to regulate emotions. Your brain creates protective mechanisms that can look like emotional numbness, distrust, perfectionism or avoidance behaviors.

HOWEVER, DON’T WORRY! Do you want to know what you can do to help heal your brain!?! One of the most powerful tools for healing mental scar tissue is “GRATITUDE”. Gratitude from a scientific perspective can help “soften” the rigid defensive patterns that pain creates. Over time it creates new neural pathways that are more flexible, hopeful and trusting. It strengthens the part of your brain that regulates your emotions, calms the part that processes fear and danger. In a way it lays healthy tissue over old wounds.

This we know is a strong biblical practice not only as an expression of worship but it also has healing properties to our brain. So my encouragement to you is to become ridiculously grateful and let’s watch what takes place in our bodies and our lives.

This past Sunday, we had the great privilege of hosting Jonathan & Melissa Helser. Jonathan released a powerful word that invites us into a profound exploration of what it means to run the race of faith for the long haul. Drawing from Hebrews 12, we're reminded that we're surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses—heroes of faith who have gone before us, cheering us on. The central challenge is clear: how do we keep running when blizzards hit our lives? When discouragement, comparison, and the enemy's lies threaten to make us lose our way? The answer lies in what Jesus himself did. In two critical moments—Gethsemane and the cross—we see Jesus reaching for ropes that would lead him back home to the Father. These weren't random acts of desperation, but well-worn paths he'd walked many times before. The Lord's Prayer and Psalm 22 became his lifelines in the storm. This teaches us something revolutionary: if the Son of God needed spiritual disciplines and ancient prayers to navigate his darkest hours, how much more do we need them? The Psalms aren't just beautiful poetry—they're 150 well-worn paths back to God's heart, written in every human emotion from the highest highs to the lowest lows. We're challenged to ask ourselves: what kind of worshiper do we want to be 40 years from now? Will we still be fascinated with Jesus, or will we have grown familiar and distant? The vision is to become like those saints who, at 91 years old, still weep with wonder at the Father's love—not because they're sentimental, but because they've stayed connected to the source of all life.

This Sunday we embarked on a journey of raw truth and invitation: discovering how our personal preferences—the way we expect life and God to look—can quietly shape how we experience Him and sometimes limit what He wants to do. Through valleys and victories, we’ve seen God remain our constant; yet when storms hit and our timing didn’t match our expectations, our preferences often took center stage and our eyes drifted from Him. Using the example of the Israelites and the golden calf, Pastor Shayna reminded us that when we cling to our way, we leave less room for God’s way. But in His kindness, God invites us to notice where we’ve held too tightly, not to condemn us but to draw us closer and bring freedom. This week, let’s humbly lay down our preferences, surrender our need for control, and create space for God to be God in our lives. Let’s refuse to let our boxes define Him—and instead let His presence redefine our reality.

Last Sunday, I shared how the mind is the meeting place for heaven, hell, and earth—not because they all live there, but because that’s where they all compete for your agreement. Every thought that passes through your mind carries an invitation: some from God, some from fear, and some from your own story. What you agree with determines the reality you live from.

When Paul writes in Ephesians 4:23 to “be renewed in the spirit of your mind,” he’s describing something deeper than just thinking better thoughts. He’s talking about the atmosphere within you—the spiritual air your thoughts breathe. The Holy Spirit doesn’t just give you new ideas; He changes the environment where those ideas are born. He renews the wind inside your thinking until peace becomes the natural climate of your inner world.

So this week, when your thoughts feel loud or scattered, pause and invite Him in. Ask the Spirit to renew the atmosphere, to change the air in your mind. Slow down long enough to let Him breathe truth where fear has been, clarity where confusion lingers, and peace where pressure once ruled. Renewed thinking rarely happens at the speed of emotion. It happens at the speed of attention. It is a slow and sacred work. Renewal starts not with striving to think differently, but by letting the Spirit transform the space where your thoughts begin.

Did you know the average person has over 6000 thoughts per day? This means you are having four thoughts every minute. If even 10% of those thoughts are negative, anxious, or intrusive, that’s 600 mental interruptions a day competing for agreement.

In the talk titled Intrusive Thoughts, Pastor Eric helped to identify and recognize not all of our thoughts are coming from us and not all of them are demonic. There are multiple factors and dynamics that create the thoughts that enter our mind. He brought some clarity and understanding to why it is often easier to have thoughts of fear, anxiety, and despair.

Listen to this talk to learn some practical ways to do the slow sacred work of renewing your mind. The goal isn’t to have no thoughts, the goal is to learn how to make truth your new default in your universe of thoughts.

This Sunday, Pastor Rheva shared a powerful message from 1 Corinthians 1 titled “Give Us Wisdom.”

Paul wrote to the young church in Corinth—a diverse, fast-growing community struggling with division. Pastor Rheva reminded us that, like them, we sometimes let personalities, opinions, or cultural trends pull us apart. But Paul calls us back to unity in Christ, the One who was crucified for us.

The message of the cross may seem foolish to the world, but it is the very power and wisdom of God. Human wisdom—no matter how intelligent or advanced—can’t replace what only God reveals through His Spirit.

Pastor Rheva encouraged us to:

Stay united around Christ, not divided by differences.
Seek God’s wisdom, not the world’s opinions.
Remember that if we lack wisdom, we can ask—and God gives it generously (James 1:5).

Let’s continue to walk in the power of the cross and the wisdom that comes from above.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come,

Kingdom culture is the way of life that reflects the rule and reign of God — His priorities, values, and heart. It’s a life rooted in love, living in surrender, and one that requires bold trust.

The truth is, we all live in a world that celebrates the “kingdom of self.” We hear messages like “You do you,” and “Live your truth.” Our culture celebrates autonomy — the right to define meaning and happiness on our own terms. But the way of Jesus is radically different. In His Kingdom, true freedom isn’t found in asserting control, but in yielding it.

“Modern culture exalts the sovereignty of self; the Kingdom calls us to the surrender of self.”

As we continue this journey together, let’s be people who choose to say yes — to trust, to obey, and to surrender to God’s ways. The bible is full of crazy stories of deliverance, provision, healing and even the salvation of humanity because of the power of a YES to God.

We are full of hope and faith in what God will do with our yes and surrender to Him.

A Echo Chamber is an enclosed space where sound reverberates / an environment in which a person encounters only beliefs or opinions that coincide with their own, so that their existing views are reinforced and alternative ideas are not considered.

We create these places as they are comfortable and are re-assuring. However if we want to truly mature as humans we must exit the echo chambers and commit to a life of building something that is very hard to build - Personal Character.

Pastor Eric took us through Luke 9 and we learned about the journey of the disciples who have been given power and authority and by the end of the chapter we see some significant character flaws get revealed: pride, arrogance, and the desire to wipe out a city with fire.

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power,”

It’s so much easier to talk and dream about spiritual gifts and it is so much harder to talk and dream about building character. The development of your character is something you are in control of while calling and destiny is something that was a gift to you from God. We are full of gratitude and humility as we reflect back on these past weeks. Processing the devastating events has been weighty and we are thankful as we watch our community (YOU) walk graciously with one another. This is stunning to watch! In the face of pain and grief, we are figuring out how to live, walk, value and honor each other when we are all uniquely different.

Jesus prayed that we would be one—not because we all think, feel, or act the same—but because we are united in His love and mission. That kind of unity doesn’t just happen. It requires humility, surrender, and a willingness to lay down our opinions and preferences so that His heart and His will shape us.

We are living in days where division is loud and easy. But God is inviting us into something higher: to grow in awareness, humility, curiosity, and above all—love. This is the way forward.

Col 3:12-14 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let’s be bold, Studio. Let’s mature in love and become the kind of community Jesus prayed for.

It has been quite a week. My heart has been heavy with sadness, shock, grief, anger, confusion—and also with a resolve. Once again, tragedy has shaken our nation and reminded us of the brokenness in our culture. As Psalm 120 says, “In my distress I cried to the Lord, and He heard me… I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.”

In moments like this, the temptation is to turn inward—to blame, to divide, to harden our hearts. But as followers of Jesus, our first response is to turn upward. This is a moment for prayer. It’s a time to seek God’s presence, to humble ourselves, and to remember that our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1–2).

So how do we respond? We pray. We care for those around us. We stay tethered to a Kingdom that is above politics, culture, and rhetoric—a Kingdom that carries peace in the storm and hope for the future. We choose humility and boldness, and we let joy be our strength.

Prayer Focus This Week:

Pray for our nation and for God to pour out His Spirit.
Pray for eyes, ears, and hearts to awaken to truth.
Pray for comfort for those who mourn and grieve.
Pray that despair will lift and hope will fill hearts.
Pray for an awakening in the Church, full of the Spirit and boldness.
Pray for God-given creativity and solutions to bring healing.
Pray for this to be a true turning to God moment across our land.

Let’s be a people who grieve without it turning into bitterness and hate, who hold hope and who believe that unity grows where pride and fear die.

On Sunday we continued our study in the Songs of Ascent. Psalm 133 paints a stunning picture: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” Surprisingly, Unity isn’t the starting point—it’s the result of our journey of walking and doing life with people towards God. Culture often shouts for “unity” but what it really means is agreement, control, or sameness. Scripture shows us something different: unity that flows from God’s Spirit, like oil that consecrates and dew that refreshes.

True unity is not uniformity—it’s diverse people, different backgrounds, one covenant, one God. It’s not forced from the top down; it comes as we humble ourselves, walk together, and let God pour out His blessing. The highest point of worship isn’t “me and God,” but us and God together. That’s the kind of unity that lasts, and the world is longing to see it.

This Sunday, we continued our journey through the Song of Ascents. We were reminded that in Psalm 124 that if the Lord had not been on our side, we would have been swallowed up by life’s storms. These ancient “Songs of Ascent” were survival songs—words sung by God’s people as they journeyed step by step toward His presence. They teach us something powerful: in every situation we face, we have a choice. We can descend into blame, pride, and entitlement—or we can ascend toward humility, gratitude, and faith. The songs we sing with our lives matter. Gratitude, thankfulness, and humility in the midst of suffering are what set followers of Jesus apart from the world.

We live in a culture that when things get hard or difficult it is working to move you towards blame and victimhood, but God calls us to fight for a different algorithm—a way of living shaped by responsibility, gratitude, and dependence on Him. When we ascend, we discover God’s presence in the silence, His protection in the storm, and His power in our weakness. Let’s be a people who keep moving toward Him, singing songs of faith together as we go. As Psalm 124 closes, may this be our declaration: “Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

For a second week, we continued in the Psalms of Ascent, which the children of Israel sang while on pilgrimage journeys to the Temple.

Psalm 127 reminds us: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for He grants sleep to those He loves.”

Rest is not achieved by escaping all sources of anxiety. Rest is stepping back from the need to control them. With our free will, we choose to partner with God and trust the outcome to him.

The Psalms of Ascent (120–134) are not just historic songs; they are a playlist for the future. They train our hearts to wait. The paradox of waiting and suffering is designed to move you into the presence of God. If the tension drives us away, we’ve missed the point. But if it draws us near, we are living as we were designed.

Here are the lessons from this playlist:

God has delivered you before.

We still need deliverance now.

Our work depends on His blessing, not our striving.

Our families, cities and future are a gift from God.

So keep singing! The road is long, but God is building something greater than our hands could ever hold.

This week we turned to Psalm 126, a Song of Ascents:

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad… Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.”

These psalms were sung by worshippers on their way “up” to Jerusalem—pilgrim songs for people on the move with God. They remind us that following Him is both personal and communal, and it’s a journey marked by steps: leaving behind distress, walking together in trust, and drawing near to His presence.

Psalm 126 captures the beautiful tension of the spiritual life: joy for what God has done and longing for what He has not yet done. It invites us to hold both thankfulness and expectation at the same time. Personally, this means carrying gratitude while still trusting God for future promises. As a community, it means learning to hold space for one another—rejoicing with those who rejoice, and weeping with those who weep—without judgment, jealousy, or comparison.

This past Sunday we looked at one of the most challenging and transformative truths of following Jesus: If your faith has no room for suffering or waiting, you may have a God you can control—but not the kind of God you can trust. We have been exploring the paradox of waiting and suffering—the “hallway” or “wilderness” seasons between past reality and future promise—and saw how these spaces aren’t punishment or failure, but holy places of preparation.

We often look at the wilderness as a dry, barren and desolate place. However when we read about Moses, he found community, found a wife and had kids. He also learned where the water and food were which taught him how to sustain life in the wilderness. So perhaps the wilderness isn’t only dry and barren but also a place where you find life and things you long for.

The truth is, God is not absent in the wilderness—He is loud in it. Waiting is not wasted when it becomes a place of surrender, honesty, and encounter. As we follow Jesus together, may we learn to trust Him not just for the destination, but in the wilderness itself—where provision is found, identity is forged, and His presence becomes our greatest treasure.

If God is healer, why hasn’t He healed me yet?

If God is comforter, why does it still hurt?

If God is the provider, why does lack still linger?

These aren’t questions of doubt.

These are the questions of discipleship.

On Sunday, Pastor Eric shared his journey of still waiting for his healing for his entire life. It was raw, vulnerable and a sprinkle of comedy. He wrestles with the paradox of knowing God as healer and provider while still waiting for healing himself. The talk honestly wrestles with the questions that emerge when healing, comfort, or provision are delayed: not as signs of doubt, but as essential questions of discipleship.

Through the lenses of the theology of waiting and the theology of suffering, Eric invites listeners to consider how God forms us not in spite of delay and pain, but through them. As we are growing, God is revealing things in us—beautiful things, surprising things, and sometimes things that need to be surrendered. It’s all an invitation to go deeper into His love and delight… to be formed in that space, learning to trust, and to release control.

Let’s lean into who He is and what He’s providing. He is our Provider. Our Good Shepherd. And we can rest knowing He has already prepared everything we need.

He is the God of Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

We’re praying that this week, you’ll encounter everything Jesus gave His life for—His love, His healing, His forgiveness, and His peace.

Even in uncertain spaces, may you recognize His provision… and may you have an appetite for the table He’s prepared just for you.

This past Sunday, we continued exploring the opportunity and complexity of how we live in this world as Jesus followers. We took it a step further by exploring the Incarnation—Jesus taking on flesh, which is known as The Incarnation. This is foundational to understanding the person and nature of Christ. A question we asked ourselves is - we know Jesus died for all of humanity, but did he die for all of creation?

The Incarnation confronts the idea that spirit is good and matter is bad. Jesus in the flesh shows us that God doesn’t run from creation—He enters it. That means ordinary life—work, beauty, cities, justice, bodies—matters deeply. Jesus didn’t just come to save souls; He came to redeem all of creation. The title for the talk is “The End of Escapism”. The challenge for us is to move away from an escape from this world paradigm and move towards a redemption of all things. Let’s move past escapism and embrace a more embodied, redemptive gospel.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored a powerful idea from physics—the two body problem—and how it mirrors our story: God and humanity, once perfectly connected, then fractured, now beautifully restored through Jesus. When Jesus taught us to pray “Our Father,” He collapsed the distance between Him and us. But the story doesn’t stop there. There’s also a three body problem—God, humans, and culture—an intricate dance that’s often overlooked or misunderstood. When we orbit only God and neglect the world around us, our faith risks becoming irrelevant, disconnected, and spiritually insular. But when we orbit both God and culture with love, creativity, and mission, we become salt, light, and agents of renewal.

Here’s the charge: Tear down the walls between sacred and secular. All of life is sacred—work, rest, parenting, art, business, and even the smallest, most ordinary moments. We are called to live a seamless life, to engage culture courageously, and to find joy in the everyday. This isn’t just about church on Sundays—it’s about carrying the kingdom into every space you touch. God has entrusted you to be a culture shaper and an agent of renewal in your world. Let’s step into that together.

This past Sunday, Adam Acosta's talk was a powerful and deeply personal exploration of hunger—the kind that shapes identity, misleads us with counterfeits, and ultimately determines the direction of our lives.

The speaker shared a pivotal moment where God spoke: “You can hunger to be known by Me, or to be known by man. But you can’t have both.” “Where I want to take you, you must die.”

From there, we looked at three key biblical moments:

The Giant (David) — David didn’t hunger for victory—he hungered for the wilderness where he met God. His confidence wasn’t in defeating Goliath but in who he already was in the secret place.

The Apple (Eve) — In the garden, Eve was deceived into hungering for something she already had. Satan’s tactic is the same today: use doubt to distort obedience and dismantle identity.

The Stone (Jesus) — In the wilderness, Jesus chose not to turn the stone into bread, showing us that sustained hunger can form us more deeply than satisfied hunger ever could.

Identity is built on what you hunger for. What we feed is what stays alive. There are places God wants to take you—but some of those places require something in you to die first.

What are you hungering for? Is it drawing you closer to the presence of God—or deeper into striving, comparison, or counterfeit comfort?

This message is a call back to the wilderness, to the place where real identity is forged. Don’t chase the giant. Don’t eat the apple. Don’t turn the stone. Hunger for Him. That’s where the promise begins.

This Summer is off to a beautiful start and is full of connection, growth and activation at Studio. We are calling this our “Summer of Kindness”! On Sunday we did part 3 of this series with our panel talk on “Sharing Jesus.” We had a great time exploring what this looks like in our lives and in our world today.

We kicked things off by talking about evangelism—what it is, why it matters, and how it’s a central part of following Jesus. In Mark 16:15, Jesus tells us to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” These were some of His final words to his disciples and we carry this commission to GO.

Our goal was to put flesh on some of these big words, to know the power of the gospel (good news), and to get God’s heart for humanity. We talk through things like:

What does sharing the gospel look like in everyday life?
Why is it sometimes hard to do?
How do we know when to talk to someone, and what do we even say?
What is the role of love in reaching humanity?

As we aim our heart and attention toward people, it’s important to be aware of who is in front of us. Do we know who we’re talking to—whether someone knows Jesus, has church hurt, or is just figuring things out. Especially in the South, where there are churches on almost every corner, it’s easy to assume where people are coming from. Walking in the awareness of God's love often looks like slowing down, listening, and being present.

Billy Graham said it best:

“It’s the Holy Spirit’s job to convict, God’s job to judge, and my job to love.”

At the end of the day, we’re all called to share the hope we’ve found in Jesus—it doesn’t require us to know everything, but is powerful when we are moved by love. Let your light shine (Matthew 5:16), give what you’ve got, and trust that God will use it.

Let’s continue to grow and mature in love, and get good at sharing it with those around us!

This past Sunday we had a little fun with some highly scientific Dad Stats:

100% of dads think they’re hilarious.
94% of dads believe duct tape and WD-40 can fix anything.
87% of dads are confident they’re the “cool parent.”
And dads everywhere continue to wage war on lights left on and doors left open with classic lines like: “I’m not paying to heat the whole neighborhood!”

We celebrated some amazing fathers—from the youngest and oldest to the one with the most kids. It was beautiful.

But beyond the laughs and lawn-mowing glory, we leaned into a powerful truth.

There’s a concept in physics called the Two-Body Problem—it’s about how two objects (like planets or stars) interact with each other through gravity. Under the right conditions, they don’t crash or drift apart—they move in beautiful, synchronized orbit.

We explored how God and humanity are like those two bodies.

We were created for a perfect orbit with our Creator. But sin disrupted that alignment. Our relationship with God was fractured—like two celestial bodies drifting apart.

But then Jesus taught us to pray, starting with two words:

“Our Father.”

Not “Judge.” Not “Creator.” Not “The Distant One.”

But Father. Abba.

These two words reoriented the cosmos of our hearts. They were more than a phrase—they were the gravitational force that brought God and humanity back into relationship.

When God becomes Our Father:

We find our identity as sons and daughters
We belong to a family, not just solo faith
We begin to heal, even if “father” has meant pain before

As we grow and step into all God has for us, we’re called to live with authenticity and faith—rooted in knowing God, understanding our identity, and sharing what we've been given. We weren’t created to chase perfection or live in duplicity. Somewhere along the way, the Christian walk became more about appearances than substance. But Jesus calls us simply to be—to shine our light and reflect Him with simplicity, purity, and authenticity.

Let’s remember who we are and live from the truth of Scripture:

Children of God (John 1:12)
A new creation (Galatians 4:5–7)
Members of His body (1 Corinthians 12:27)
Salt and light (Matthew 5:13–16)
The Church (Ephesians 1:22)

In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us salt and light—both essential for life. Light brings clarity, vision, energy, and well-being. Salt preserves, purifies, and enhances. We carry something powerful within us—let’s live with that awareness.

Matthew 5:13–16 (NIV) “You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world... Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Let’s shine brightly, live with kindness, and boldly share the gospel with those around us.

The first installment of Summer of Kindness series was focused on how Jesus interfaced and interacted with humanity.... In the 1990s, a frustrated engineer named Ajay Bhatt noticed a problem no one was solving—connecting everyday devices to a computer was complicated and inefficient. What emerged from his persistence was the USB port: a simple, seamless interface that revolutionized how technology connects.

Much like that innovation, we believe the future of the Church lies in how we “interface and interact” with the world around us. We see in the life of Jesus a “seamless” approach to humanity. He moved in and out, up and down, left and right in culture and society. Jesus was adaptable and versatile in his approach. In order for Him to be able to do this it reveals he had an internal operating system that enabled him to live with a Kingdom View.

This summer, we invite you into that mission through Summer of Kindness—a season of teaching, training, and activation rooted in Matthew 5, Matthew 28, and Acts 10:38.

On Sunday we covered 4 essentials to this internal operating system:

1 View of God and Humanity - You view Humanity the way you believe He views you.

2 Knowing who you are talking to - Taking the time to understand the different worldviews and perspectives of humanity.

3 Personal Responsibility - What are you doing to feed the poor, pray for the sick, clothe the naked, “preach the gospel”...

4 Letting people touch your scars - Thomas touched Jesus’s scars and “believed”.

As we move toward the second half of 2025, I’ve been drawn to a moment in Exodus 33 where God tells Moses, “I’m not going with you.” It’s a response to the impatience and misplaced trust of the people in Exodus 32. In the face of delay, they chose control over trust. But Moses responded by setting up his tent outside the camp—a place to meet with God. Inside the camp is where you around human reasoning. Outside the camp is when you come face to face with the reasoning of God

My encouragement to each of us this week is we would be a people that are shaped and formed by God and when necessary set up a place “outside of the camp” to come face to face with Him. Let’s continue to build a house where we meet with God, grow as a dynamic church, and serve humanity—with faith, humility, and expectancy.

Storms—whether natural or personal—can be loud, unsettling, and even destructive. But they are not without purpose. In both nature and our spiritual lives, storms often precede growth. They soften hard ground, spread seeds, and prepare the way for new life to emerge.

How we view storms is often shaped by our past experiences, but Scripture shows us they can also awaken us to purpose. In Nehemiah 1, the destruction of Jerusalem deeply burdened Nehemiah. That burden moved him to prayer, repentance, and ultimately, action. He didn’t just survive the storm—he let it stir him to rebuild what was broken.

Many of us may be in a “transition” season—caught between pain and purpose. It’s often the most intense part of the journey, but it’s also the moment just before new life is born. Don’t let the weight of the storm discourage you. Let it awaken you to what God is calling you to carry and birth.

Let’s be a church that leans into prayer, stands on God’s promises, and rises to rebuild what the enemy tried to tear down. Storms may shake us, but they can also shape us for what’s next.

Let’s rise and build.

Why is it so challenging to do the simple things? As Christians we are followers and disciples of Christ. The call to follow Jesus is simple in its nature, yet quite challenging in what it requires.

It’s the space between desire, expectations, who we are, and the path God has for us.

One of the biggest challenges or tensions in this is who we are listening to, what we partner with, and ultimately what we choose while we are navigating the different textures of life. God made us dynamic with brains, hearts, desires, emotions, which all play a part in how we navigate choices and the unknowns.

One of the more intimate metaphors in the bible is when David writes about God being His shepherd. As a young boy David was a shepherd himself and he experienced what it was like to know, care for, and be responsible for his sheep. The 23rd Psalm comes out of personal experience as a shepherd and who David knew God to be.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

Continuing in the shepherd theme, in John 10:14 Jesus calls himself the Good Shepherd “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.”

There is a unique relationship between the shepherd and the sheep: Sheep learn to trust a shepherd through recognizing his voice and scent, and understanding that he provides safety, food, and care.

Later on in vs 27 Jesus goes even further and says “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

As His followers, may we be fast to recognize and hear His voice. To be able to give thanks for His provision, even when it’s not what we were expecting or wanting. God is faithful and a Good Shepherd. We are His sheep and we are thankful for His presence, guidance, and restoration.

On Sunday we continued our talk around the life of Peter. One of the incredible things we see as he followed Jesus is how much he changed and was transformed by Him. Sometimes I wonder how much we think “following Jesus” fixes everything in our life not realizing following Jesus actually reveals everything.

We see in the first 3 years of Peter following Jesus a man who was driven by self preservation and his reputation. Ultimately this led him to erratic behaviour and eventually denying Jesus. How does a man who was committed and zealous in following Jesus end so badly? The beautiful part of his story is it didn’t end there. We read in John 21 of this conversation between Jesus and Peter that heals, redeems and restores Peter.

The Peter that emerges after this encounter with Jesus is a very different Peter than before. We see a man not driven by self-preservation but rather motivated by surrender to serve Him. Where Peter failed before now became his areas of great strength. We see him in various places in the scriptures exhorting the church to surrender, walk in humility and to not get distracted. His life is a great reminder that following Jesus reveals the areas in our lives that He wants to heal, redeem and restore. Let’s be people not driven by self-preservation and rather be motivated by full surrender to Him.

On Sunday, Pastor Eric shared a talk that I know is pertinent to each of us. As you know we can get scars on our bodies from injuries and medical procedures. There are other kinds of scars that no one can see but anyone around you will experience them. Let’s call them Mental Scars, these scars develop when painful and hard circumstances take place in our life. Science is showing us that mental scars actually build up scar tissue in our brain.

When mental scar tissue develops in the brain essentially what is taking place is your brain rewires itself and becomes more rigid. It’s a self protective mechanism to reduce the odds of experiencing the pain again. When scar tissue develops in the brain it can make your brain hyperactive, leading to constant fear and anxiety. Part of your brain shrinks in ways that can cause problems with memory and learning. It also makes it more difficult to regulate emotions. Your brain creates protective mechanisms that can look like emotional numbness, distrust, perfectionism or avoidance behaviors.

HOWEVER, DON’T WORRY! Do you want to know what you can do to help heal your brain!?! One of the most powerful tools for healing mental scar tissue is “GRATITUDE”. Gratitude from a scientific perspective can help “soften” the rigid defensive patterns that pain creates. Over time it creates new neural pathways that are more flexible, hopeful and trusting. It strengthens the part of your brain that regulates your emotions, calms the part that processes fear and danger. In a way it lays healthy tissue over old wounds.

This we know is a strong biblical practice not only as an expression of worship but it also has healing properties to our brain. So my encouragement to you is to become ridiculously grateful and let’s watch what takes place in our bodies and our lives.

This Easter, we reflect not just on the event of the resurrection but the deeper story unfolding within it — a cosmic collision of heaven and earth. For centuries, the Jewish people longed for a Messiah who would come in power and liberate them from oppression. But Jesus came not as a political savior but as a suffering servant, confronting not just Rome, but the root of all human brokenness — sin and separation from God. The cross, once a symbol of defeat, becomes the ultimate paradox: weakness turned into strength, death into life, shame into glory. The early Church Fathers saw it as more than an execution device — they saw it as a cosmic intersection, where time met eternity, and love redefined power.

What if we’ve misunderstood where God is? Many imagine Him as distant, above the sky, out there somewhere — but Easter tells a different story. He came. He entered creation, submitted to human limitations, and became the bridge between the spiritual and natural world. The torn veil wasn’t just symbolic — it marked the end of separation. Love led Him to the cross, and love is what continues to hold the universe together. This isn’t just about forgiveness — it’s about restoration. The story of God is not just about fall and redemption but about creation, restoration, and His continued presence with us. This Easter, may we become more aware — not of a distant God, but of the One who is already near.

I wonder what it would have been like to be one of those who greeted Jesus as He humbly came into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. Jesus was met with people laying down their cloaks and palm branches on the road. This journey would ultimately lead to His death and resurrection. It is because of His yes and love for us that we look forward to Good Friday and Easter this coming weekend.

We might not have palm branches, but we honor God by welcoming Him into our lives, worshiping Him and giving Him our everything. As we turn to God and yield our hearts to Him, He is maturing and forming us in love. It is in this intimate space that He begins to refine us and rearrange our priorities. It is also the space where our wills bend toward God and away from other things - where we become quick to repent.

His love is like a fire that we not only build our lives around, but it’s the fire that burns in us and it shapes us, forms us, and matures us.

As we remember all that Jesus has done, let us take time to step into the light and examine our own hearts. The Lord is purifying His church and with purity, comes clarity.

Matthew 5:8, blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God

Lord, we thank you for your great love and we ask that you will purify us and clean out the clutter in our lives. Forgive us in any area that we have been partnering with something other than you. Today we lay down our lives and we invite your love into every space.

“In the beginning, God”

All it takes is a spark to change the world. Being created in the image of God means that we have the choice to create. This week, Pastor Eric spoke to us about the possibilities that came out of this one breath of God. He also spoke about the wisdom and discipline involved in cultivating talents even in the moments when we aren’t inspired.

This past week, we were honored to host our first INSPIRE Conference, which brought people together from our region and from all over the world to explore the intersection of creativity and faith. We got to meet so many incredible creators, but we were also so thrilled to see the many people in our own community who stepped up to make this event happen. This past Sunday, we continued pt. 3 in the Create series with Eric’s teaching on "The Image of God". In Genesis 1:26-27, we learn that humans are made in God's image and likeness. The Hebrew terms for "image" (Tzelem) and "likeness" (Demut) show that while we're not divine like God, we do resemble Him in qualities like reason, creativity, relational capacity, moral awareness, and the ability to make decisions. Every person, regardless of background, has inherent worth because of this divine likeness—something that's central to the Christian worldview.

Given that humanity is created in God's image, humans share in God's creative nature. Artists, musicians, writers, and creators are reflecting God's creativity when they create works that bring beauty, truth, and life into the world. Through creativity, people are invited to reflect the nature of the Creator, engaging in acts of imagination and innovation that also speak to God's beauty and order.

“Artists in the last century have been functioning in society to reveal brokenness; in this century, can they lead the way toward reconnection, reconciliation and reintegration?”

This past Sunday, we leaned into the power of wonder and how it connects us to God and our divine design. Albert Einstein once said, “He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.”

From the vastness of the heavens to the peculiar beauty of the Okapi, all of creation vibrates with God’s intentional design. Psalm 19 tells us that the skies pour forth speech, revealing knowledge—though we may not hear it, creation is constantly declaring His glory. And God didn’t just place us in this world—He made us receivers of it! Our senses were designed to interpret and engage with His creation, calling us to be fully alive in wonder.

But something happened. Humanity exchanged wonder for certainty, limiting what we believe is possible. The moment we put God in a box, we shrink our world, our faith, and our creativity. Yet, from the very beginning, God designed us to co-create with Him. When He filled Bezalel with His Spirit—the first person ever filled with the Holy Spirit—it wasn’t to preach, but to create. Because when creativity is connected to God, it releases His Spirit and brings Heaven to Earth.

God is inviting us to return to wonder. To break free from small thinking. To create with Him. Whether through art, business, relationships, or the way we serve others—our creativity becomes a vessel for His presence.

So, let’s not let the enemy steal our wonder. Let’s allow God to breathe life into what seems lifeless. Because when we create in wonder, we make space for the impossible.

What would happen if we lived in awe of God again? If we embraced the fullness of how He designed us?

Let’s step into wonder—and watch as Heaven touches Earth.

It is beauty that moves the human soul. Whether through a piece of art, sound, or the vastness of the night sky, we are drawn toward creation, toward wonder, toward something beyond ourselves. It is curiosity. It is innovation. It is communion. Beauty is directly connected to our existence. Before we know God as provider, healer, comforter, savior…In Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created…”. He introduces himself first as “Creator”.

What God does next is perhaps his most adventurous and riskiest creation, the introduction of Human Choice. Our ability to create came from Him, what we create is on the other side of choice. It is because of this we decide what we bring into this world and what it reflects.

There is too much sickness in this world to not create beauty

There is too much mental illness in this world to not create and innovate

There is too much war in this world to not create beauty

There is way too much corruption in this world to not create

There is too much meaninglessness in this world to not create beauty

There is too much hopelessness in this world to not create

There is too much brokenness in the world around us to not create and innovate

Our Culture is too broken to not create, innovate or bring beauty in this world. Beauty created the world, Beauty can save the world.

As we conclude our Spirit series, we want to invite you into my lifelong journey of experiencing, witnessing, and wrestling with the gifts of the Spirit—both their beauty and their challenges. The gifts of the Spirit were God’s idea, designed to be expressed through humanity. Yet, without people willing to walk in integrity and love, they remain abstract and ineffective. This brings us to two crucial aspects that shape how we engage with spiritual gifts: Character and our View of Humanity.

Character is more than just avoiding failure—it is the road and guardrails that allow us to move forward in our spiritual journey. Developing character means making pre-set choices that align with our identity in Christ, valuing integrity, humility, and accountability. At times, the misuse of spiritual gifts has led to pain and disappointment, but rather than abandoning them, we are called to steward them with wisdom and love. Likewise, how we view humanity directly impacts how we operate in these gifts. If we see people through the lens of God’s love, we will minister with grace and compassion. Our past experiences, personal narratives, and theological perspectives shape our understanding of others, but we must continually align our view with God’s heart. As we move forward, may we commit to building a culture that values truth, integrity, and a deep respect for the people we are called to serve. Let’s continue this journey together, leaning into the Spirit with wisdom, humility, and love.

This past weekend with Danny Silk was so great! We learned that Fear is a powerful force, shaping what we worship and how we live. But the Fear of the Lord is not about punishment, intimidation, or mere survival—it is the beginning of wisdom. Every other fear leads to foolishness. When we fear rejection, we chase approval; when we fear failure, we grasp for control. But the Fear of the Lord keeps us from idolatry, drawing us into deeper connection with Him rather than leading us to self-preservation.

Shame often tells us we are unlovable, but God calls us to trust in Him rather than in the illusions fear creates. We cannot walk in wisdom if we are ruled by the fear of man, failure, or insignificance. Instead, wisdom comes when we fear being disconnected from God and allow His correction to shape us. The path to wisdom is not found in avoiding pain or seeking approval but in surrendering to His truth and presence.

So, what do you fear? And where is it leading you? The only response to the Fear of the Lord is to pursue reconnection with Him. Let’s allow wisdom to lead us back to His presence, where true security and belonging are found.

This past Sunday we continued our Spirit series as Pastor Rheva encouraged us through her talk on the gift of prophecy. This is a gift that we believe is still alive and active today.

All believers are designed to hear God's voice and have access to this gift as part of their relationship with Him. The talk seeks to demystify prophecy, explaining that it is not about titles or dramatic proclamations but about communicating God's message in a way that builds up and encourages others. Prophecy is not restricted to certain personalities or statuses—it is for all believers. In this talk, there is a call for believers to embrace and develop their prophetic gifts, using them to serve both the church and the broader community in humility, wisdom, and love.

When we receive prophetic words, the bible tells us that we are to test them (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21) and the questions below were provided to help us test and process what has been given to us.

Does it agree with Scripture?
Is it consistent with the character and nature of God?
Does this resonate with me?
How do family, friends, and leaders who love me feel about the word?
Do I trust the source? Does this person have any reason to control or manipulate me? Would this person receive any personal benefit from my following this prophetic word?
Does it glorify God and draw me close to Jesus?
Does my trusted community believe this word or parts of it reflect what God is speaking to me right now?

As we reach the halfway point in our “SPIRIT” series, our hope is to approach the gifts of the Spirit with openness, allowing room for growth, rather than rigid definitions. For over 2,000 years, the church has been discovering the depth of the Spirit’s work and our journey should be marked by both curiosity and surrender.

Different Christian traditions emphasize various aspects of the Spirit’s work and labels like "Spirit-filled" can be misleading. Paul highlights the Spirit’s role in redemption and new life, while Luke focuses on empowerment and miracles. Rather than viewing these as opposing perspectives, we should embrace the richness they offer, recognizing the Spirit’s diverse and dynamic activity.

Whether one sees the gifts as fixed lists or open-ended expressions, scripture makes it clear that they exist to equip believers for God’s mission. From prophecy and healing, to teaching and acts of service, these gifts build up the body of Christ. Regardless of one’s stance on their continuation, the call remains the same: to seek the Spirit’s work with openness, avoiding theological rigidity and embracing all that God desires to do in and through us.

This past Sunday Pastor Eric did part 2 to our “Spirit” series. He emphasized the Holy Spirit is not just a force but a divine Person—fully God and active in our lives. He teaches, guides, convicts, and empowers us, both in our spiritual growth and in fulfilling God’s mission. From the Old Testament to Pentecost and beyond, His presence has been vital in God’s plan for His people. Understanding His role helps us walk in greater faith, power, and obedience.

Beyond His indwelling at salvation, the Holy Spirit also empowers believers in extraordinary ways. Scripture speaks of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as a supernatural equipping for ministry and service. While different theological perspectives exist, one truth remains: every believer is called to be filled with the Spirit continually (Ephesians 5:18). This filling transforms our character (Galatians 5:22-23), strengthens our faith, and enables us to follow God’s leading with clarity and confidence. It’s not about labels or divisions but about living a life fully surrendered to God’s power and presence.

As we continue to seek a deeper relationship with God, let’s remain open to the Holy Spirit’s leading—through faith, prayer, surrender, and obedience. Whether through gifts, guidance, or boldness in our witness, He is working in and through us. We encourage you to reflect on how the Spirit is moving in your life and seek His filling daily.

This Sunday, Pastor Candace shared her talk entitled, "The Dwelling Place".

There are callings that we long to step into, people we long to be, and things that we’ve been praying for, to come to pass. A key part of us growing into all of this is being full of the Spirit of God, growing our understanding of God’s heart for us, and learning to walk with Him.

From the garden to the grave, God’s heart was always to be with us, and it’s important for us to understand the context for Him putting His Spirit in us. In the new testament Jesus steps on the human scene and is the fulfillment of what was prophesied. He paid the ultimate price of giving His life to reconcile us to God. INCREDIBLE!

In all His extravagant love, He didn’t stop by just coming to be with us (Immanuel), but He also came to dwell in us!

Where we choose to live is a big thing. We get to choose what our favorite location is for our house (if we love living by the ocean or in the mountains). We all have ideas of what our dream home looks like.

The most lovely and humbling thing is that the God of all the universe who can make His home anywhere, loves us so much that He chooses us to reside and dwell in us. This love and desire is the foundation of us having His Spirit inside of us.

Jesus speaks of this in John 14:15-17 NIV

“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

We were God’s dream dwelling place and where He wants His Spirit to reside

It was Heart and Vision Sunday here at STUDIO. Pastor Eric and Candace shared their heart and vision for 2025 and the three overarching goals for the year. On our 3rd Birthday, we had our friend Pastor Lyle Phillips from Legacy Nashville share at Studio., He encouraged us and challenged us to "expect, expect, expect" and to posture ourselves as a church "that fruit is coming".

His word to us as we enter into year 4 is to go back to the battlefields in our lives and remember what he has done because he is taking us into more victory. With this comes the reality that we are in a battle and there is a place of breakthrough waiting for us.

He also shared God is calling us to be a place on the east coast for people to come that our thirsty and need refreshing. There is a gift on this house to be a place of comfort for the weary hearted.

In this episode reissue, Candace shared the final part in our series, “Strong Faith, Contagious Hope, and Enduring Love”. She spoke to the role that we all play in elevating those around us and contributing into the spaces where we live. God never meant for blessings to stop with us, but that we are to be salt and light wherever we go. In Proverbs 11:10-11 it says,

When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.

As we think about and pray for our city, let’s ask ourselves:

What do I have to GIVE?
What can CONTRIBUTE?
What can I SACRIFICE?

We live in an incredible area that is in the middle of it’s story right now. Let’s love our city well by being people who are willing to take responsibility, contribute, and are willing to sacrifice for those around them.

We pray for our city, the people who live here, the land, and for wisdom and guidance as leaders establish vision, culture and values here.

May you be blessed and prosper so that those around you experience the blessing and are lifted up!

On Sunday, Pastor Eric set the tone and posture as we step into this New Year with his talk entitled,“All we do is Win”. Romans 15:13 says,"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Joy, Peace, and Hope are the beautiful words in this passage. Paul makes a strong connection showing that they come from the power of the Holy Spirit. Have you noticed these three words are often so difficult to keep and sustain in your life? He encouraged us to take a look within to see if the joy, peace, and hope is made by us or did it come from the Holy Spirit.

Oftentimes, we create controlled environments thinking this is how we experience peace, joy, and hope in our lives. Yet despite our best efforts, it can’t be sustained. However, there is a peace, joy, and hope that comes from God. It can enable you to sleep in storms, feed thousands, where you can be in the thick of chaos, lack, confusion and still have peace, joy, and hope. This kind, comes directly from Him, and because He won….All we do is Win. Listen to this talk to hear more about what God has for us this year.

This week, Pastor Shayna moved us deeply with a talk that centered around the gift of Jesus coming to humanity to restore and redeem what was lost. In light of this, she shared with us the power of grace and gratitude. One of them depends on me and the other is a gift. Grace, we know, is a gift from God. Gratitude is a choice we get to make. It is a posture that life owes me nothing.

As we celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus, let’s be people who walk in deep gratitude regardless of what is happening around us. This is the way for followers of Jesus to continually draw our attention to the story of Jesus’ birth and to place our attention on who He is to us.

This past Sunday, Pastor Eric did a talk titled "To Submit or Not to Submit". The talk was designed to create a conversation and invite people into looking deeper at this passage of scripture, Ephesians 5:15-33. More specifically, the usage of the word “submit”, in relationships between people and between husband and wife.

What’s important to note is by the time we read Ephesians 5, Paul has laid a foundation for a new identity where we are loved, accepted, and we are His sons and daughters. This new identity moves us closer to how God views and interacts with humanity and relationships. The driving narrative of this new identity is God’s Love. This is vital to grasp as it sets the stage for what Paul's and God's intent is for what “submission” looks like in our lives.

So the question now emerges, what is Paul’s intent with the word “submit”? What does it mean for submission to happen in a marriage? Make sure you listen to this week’s talk to learn more about this. You might be pleasantly surprised.

On Sunday, Pastor Eric continued the series of Live Above the Noise with a talk titled “Imitating Greatness”. Paul makes this statement in Eph. 5:1 Imitate God as dear children. Take a moment and think about the gravity of this command. In one of Paul’s other letters he says “Imitate me as I imitate God”. However in this letter he raises the bar.

One thing children are great at is imitation. Imitation is one of the quickest ways to develop, learn social skills, and grow in confidence. It is normal and natural to imitate someone you admire. In this letter Paul is drawing the attention of the readers to choose to imitate God. Let’s remember following God is not only for the purposes of admiration and observation, it’s a decision to move in the direction of God. When we imitate Him we are choosing to learn who He is, how He thinks and what is pleasing to Him. This is the essence of spiritual formation.

So this week, take a moment and dwell on this idea of Imitating God and seek to find out what is acceptable and pleasing to him. Let’s make it our goal to be a people who Imitate Greatness.

On Sunday, Pastor Eric shared with us out of Ephesians 4 and the call Paul lays out to the readers of his letter. By the time we get to chapter 4, we learn the world around them told them, they were of no value. God said “You’re chosen”. While the culture around them rejected Christianity, God said “You are my sons and daughters”. While the society around them cut off all access and ability to become a citizen, God said “You are citizens of my Kingdom”. God is bigger than our story.

Then Paul drops a challenge to the Ephesians, “Stop acting like you used to be”. He is essentially teaching us now that you're accepted, loved, and belong to God’s family. You no longer need to act like you used to. He is pulling us out of our old identity and showing us our new identity. When you embrace your new identity from God, it changes the way you think, live, and act. Listen to this talk to learn that the one of the keys to moving into your new identity can be found in the feedback from the people around you.

As we continued our series, “Live Above the Noise”, Pastor Rheva took us through the first part of Ephesians 4 and encouraged us to mature as believers in her talk, “Let’s Grow Up”. There is a lot of noise in our culture right now that is trying to divide us as the body of Christ. But Paul encourages us as followers of Jesus to, “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” (Eph 4:2 NLT) This is a time for us to come together, to be united in the spirit and to be held together by peace. (Eph 4:3).

This talk challenges us to be a multidimensional community that finds beauty in our differences, commits to maturity for the sake of unity, and postures our hearts with humility to listen to one another.

On Sunday, Pastor Eric shared pt. 3 of our Live Above the Noise series, entitled "Love & Mystery". The top 2 genres in literature are Romance and Mystery. This should not surprise us as these are indicative of some of the deepest longings of the human soul. We desire to be loved and accepted. We also are curious creatures and we long to know what is beyond what we know and experience.

Paul says in Ephesians 1:9 “He made known to us the mystery of his will…”

In this letter, Paul unpacks what the mystery was: It is that all of humanity, regardless of ethnicity, culture, and background would be chosen and loved by God. It was not only for a certain ethnicity or culture, but covenant with God was now meant for all of humanity. This was a game changer then and continues to be for us today.

We all have a story about ourselves and sometimes we use our story to decide if God can or should love us. What Paul is pointing out is that there is nothing, including our own stories, that can keep us from the love of God. Our desire is that each of us would move into this reality: The greatest mystery is that God’s love surpasses and overrides anything and everything. Listen to pt. 3 to learn more.

Throughout our lives we are always moving in a direction. No matter what road that we find ourselves on, we are always heading in direction and the path we are on leads to somewhere.

Every thought, behavior, decision, and every step moves us further in a direction. Ephesians 2 highlights how we were going in one direction, but how dramatically it shifts when Jesus enters the human story. It reveals the great contrast and opposition of death and life.

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. - Epesians 2:4-5

Jesus is the great pivot and when He shows up it all changes. This past Sunday pastor Candace shared part II of our Live Above The Noise series and focused on the centrality of Jesus in the story of humanity moving from dead to alive.

This week at STUDIO, we had the honor of hearing from one of New Spring Church's Pastor, Hykeng Paul. In 2 Corinthinans 5, Paul talks about reconciliation as to understand what is spiritually dead and what is spiritually alive. This week, Pastor Eric kicked off the series "Live Above the Noise". This message is about the fundamental key in being someone that can live above the noise: Embracing and accepting that you have been CHOSEN by God.

“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight,”Ephesians 1:4

When a culture or a people believe they are chosen, they have a higher chance of succeeding than a culture that doesn’t believe they are chosen. It is no accident that in the first part of Ephesians, Paul emphasizes this truth: "We are Chosen". When we move our whole existence into this truth, we are ushered into all the promises, blessings, and inheritance that awaits us in following Jesus.

In response to Hurricane Helene hitting our region and it affecting so many. Pastor Eric shared how our Faith is Dynamic. We read in the scriptures:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourself are comforted by God.

Our Faith is Dynamic.

Our faith is designed to enable you to be resilient, steadfast and comforting.

It is also designed to experience healing for yourself and not just others.

We should never reduce it down to one attribute or characteristic.

But rather expect ourselves to be dynamic in how we respond in moments like this.

In its best it brings healing to self and healing to others.

It brings courage to you and courage to others.

It is Dynamic.

It is our faith that will help us get through this.

This past Sunday, Pastor Candace shared with us about continuing being vigilant in uprooting those thoughts that have taken root and have caused bitterness and resentment. Throughout our lives we are constantly growing and changing. Sometimes along the journey we experience things that shut us down, stunt our growth or even trap us.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

On Sunday, Pastor Eric completed the Trilogy of “Living Unoffended” with a talk titled “I’m sorry and I forgive you?!” The average human experiences 400 emotional experiences every day. That is 25 an hour for 16 hours and that equates to 2 ½ emotional experiences a minute. We are meaning making machines and we are constantly attaching meaning to each of these experiences. It’s our way of concluding the experience and filing it away. This internal process also affects our ability and how we say “I’m sorry” or “I forgive you”.

He also talked about the two forbidden words “Shame and Guilt”. We use these words to help people see their need for Jesus but we ban them from our vernacular and “you’re not allowed to talk about these words again”.

These are tricky little emotions, however if looked at you will realize they reveal a lot of great information that can help understand the internal workings of your soul. And this can help you move past offense and into a place of truly being sorry and to be able to authentically forgive others.

Listen to this talk for some steps in reconciling, apologizing and walking in forgiveness. Let us continue our journey of following Jesus and dealing with the matters of the heart so we can be fully alive.

This is a sequel to the talk "Living Unoffended".

There is a field of study that takes a granular look at how sound affects matter. It’s remarkable to see how sound frequency can form a pile of sand and create shapes out of it. We see this dynamic first when God in Genesis 1:3 says “Let there be light”. This sound was the first act of our creator, his words gave matter a purpose, design and intent. His words created the future. Everything was sound activated.

We also know through our life experience how words affect us. Our days are usually measured by how we navigated what was said to us and our ability to deflect or process what was said. We all have experienced life and death is in the power of the tongue. It is part of being human and doing life with others.

In this talk, Pastor Eric emphasized the power of our conversations and what we are talking about with other people. In our pursuit of living a life of not living in offense, we must ask ourselves, am I having conversations that spread offense, pain and bitterness? Or am I having conversations that are bringing life, healing and restoration? Listen to hear more about practical steps in moving into a life of not living offended.

As we begin this new season we are calling Studio to a week of prayer and fasting (Sept 9 - 15). This is intentional, strategic and timely. We will bring ourselves before the Lord, seek His face together, hear His heart, and pray into what He has for us.

Fasting is an important biblical and spiritual practice. It is a way that we draw near to God, offer ourselves to Him, and seek His help in times of special need.

Fasting is an act of humility and consecration. (Ex 19:10-11)
Fasting helps us become sensitive to His Spirit. (Act 13:1-2)
Fasting brings breakthrough, deliverance, and revival. (2 Chron 20)
Jesus fasted. (Mtt 4:1-2)

We invite you to join us as we prepare to fast, pray and seek God in this strategic time. In the bible fasting was going without food for a time and turning to God. We are asking you to take time to pray about how you can participate in this fast, whether it be going without food, social media, movies/shows etc…

This past Sunday Pastor Eric did a talk on Living Unoffended. He took us on a journey of calling us higher, deeper and farther into who we are designed to be as humans. Oftentimes we have life experiences or moments with people that cause us to be offended.

Jesus said in Luke 17:1 “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to happen…”. The reality is we all are going to be offended so it’s not about not being offended but rather it’s about what we do with the offense.

Offense is one thing in our life that can cause us to not be who we are designed to be. Offense opens up the door for bitterness and resentment to take root in us. It is vital for us to understand that when you take the bait of offense you step into a trap. John Bevere says “An offended heart is the breeding ground of deception”.

This talk is to inspire us to choose to be a people who will move towards forgiveness, keeping short accounts and to learn how to work through offense. Go listen to the whole talk to learn how offense can take root and what are the pathways to health and freedom.

On Sunday, Pastor Eric continued the conversation on Philippians 3:20:

"For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,"

Becoming a citizen of heaven is more than just a transfer of information, it is the transfer of essence. It is one thing to have all the information about who God is and what the Kingdom is all about, it is a whole different thing when that information becomes the essence of who you are. There is a journey of seeing the information move from your head to a deep place within you.

One of the ways you can find out if you carry the essence of the Kingdom is to pay attention to what you say when you pray. You may think one thing but you usually end up praying what you actually believe, which is the essence in you. Pastor Eric took us through a simple exercise to help identify our own personal perspective on who God is to you, where God is relative to you and your view on his relationship with you. While Paul was imprisoned in Rome writing this letter to the church in Phillipi, he gets a revelation that as followers of Jesus we are not only citizens of a nation we are also citizens of Heaven. We are Dual Citizens. This reality is a game changer for each of us who follow Jesus.

The greek word for Citizen implies you “can tell what citizenship someone has by how they act”. The idea is people can tell where you are from by how you live your life. What Paul is emphasizing is since your citizenship is in Heaven, there is a way to act and live your life that is in accordance with the culture of Heaven. This past Sunday, Pastor Shayna did a talk titled “When Two Worlds Collide”.She asked the question “What did it look like when Jesus walked this earth?” He was the perfect model for walking in two worlds at one time. He was the fusion of both the spiritual and physical world.

It looked like - He ate with the sinners and healed the sick, He served, washed his disciples feet, fed the hungry, and then would go by himself and connect with His Father. It was so simple, it was so fluid. He walked in and out of the spiritual realm bringing heaven to earth with such ease because he was the perfect model of walking in both worlds.

This is how you were designed to be… like Jesus! All of humanity was created, shaped and molded to walk in unison with access to both realms. Humanity was created as a NEW CREATION. One that didn’t just exist in the spiritual, but a physical being as well that could rule, tend, and steward this earth from a connection to the eternal. In2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

This past Sunday, Pastor Eric shared part of the journey of following Jesus is that we are actively engaged in a conflict of two kingdoms...good and evil, light and dark. We as humans are interconnected to the spiritual dimension and what happens there has an affect on us in the natural dimension. We are in a spiritual war. He encouraged us to first recognize that some of the gripping fear, irrational thoughts, anxiety, laziness, apathy and boredom could be a result of a spiritual battle.

We read in Ephesians 6, where Paul not only makes us aware of this reality but teaches us what to do about it. In verse 13:

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Paul teaches us to put on Truth, Peace, Faith, Salvation and the Word of God. Doing this will move you from defense to offense. Move you from being driven by fear to being driven by love. We know so many of you from our community sowed into this team financially and in prayer so it felt important to share about what God did through this team. Team member after team member got up and shared how special and impactful their experience in Romania was. The testimonies of friendship, bonding and team were so encouraging. One team member summed it up saying, “We’re just scratching the surface of what we can do as a community,”.

One thing we love about The Mission in Romania is how well they marry ministry and practical support. Over the 10 days we were there, our team was able to install a commercial dishwasher (The Mission serves large numbers of kids daily), and help with plumbing, electrical and building projects on top of ministry. This team was incredibly hard working and flexible, sometimes working late into the evening. At the end of the week, one of the missionaries who oversees the facility said, “I feel like I could move mountains with this team.” It felt the same to us.

We pray that the impact that was made in Romania and in each team member's heart will only deepen and expand. Thank you, again, to everyone who invested into this team and into Romania through prayer and financial support.

In life waiting is inevitable. We find ourselves waiting in many places and in many seasons of our lives. Martin Manser said waiting is “Being prepared to patiently look towards God for his guidance and accepting the timing he proposes. Waiting on God can lead to an atmosphere of expectation and confidence in God and a realization of the unreliability of one’s own judgment.”

Pastor Rheva walks us through the popular verse found in Isaiah 40:31:

“they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

This verse shows us what happens to us while we wait. In this talk, she encourages us as followers of Jesus to regain our strength by learning to wait on the Lord filled with hope and expectancy.

This Sunday, Pastor Eric went through two passages in scripture, both in Acts and Luke, exploring some of the dynamics of the early church. Sometimes we fantasize how the early church grew and how it functioned and operated. What we may not realize is the same challenges we face today the early church faced as well when it came to growth and the vision that Jesus put before them and us.

In a growing and thriving spiritual community there is a dance between pioneering and building. There are things we dream about and have vision for, however it's another thing to build it. The thing that validates the pioneering and the dreaming is the building of those dreams and visions. Studio is in a season where, we hold onto the spirit of pioneering, but where we want call us all to get in the trenches to see those visions become tangible and real. It's an invitation to participate in what God is doing around us.

On Sunday, Candace shared that our minds are like gardens, they need tending to, they need the weeds to be pulled and they need cultivating.

When we recognize that when we experience life it creates thoughts, feelings and behaviors. It’s in this process that we can choose which thoughts take root and which ones we need to discard. There are things we see and experience and there are things we don’t see and don’t experience, yet in order for us to realize what God intends for us, it is essential to embrace both of these dimensions of God. In other words - God is with you and there is more of him somewhere else.

Pastor Eric in his talk encouraged us to not push the cruise control but rather for us to be intentional about growing as people who are following Jesus. To be a people who pursue and be hungry for more of Him.

We had a special Sunday this past weekend, we had our dear friends, Jimmy and Genea Horner, with us,

Jimmy Horner shared with us this past Sunday about the Simplicity of the Missions Lifestyle. In the talk Jimmy referenced how Jesus, in the Gospels, was given eyes to see need and He then moved towards it, allowing Himself to be the solution. Jimmy says this is all a lifestyle of missions is: having a need highlighted to you and then moving towards it, allowing your day and life to be altered, trusting Jesus in you to be the solution. Jimmy suggests that when God highlights a need to you, it’s the same as receiving a word from Him. A powerless church points a finger, but a powerful church who knows who they are takes ownership and moves towards need with simple trust in Jesus to be who He is. Missions is not complicated, we can all be living this in our own communities - you don’t have to be a person of great resources or have the ideas for change. It’s an honor and a privilege to turn towards people and see God move through you; stepping into ownership before knowing what will happen, leaves room for the miraculous.

May we all grow in becoming people who are moved with compassion into ownership and action to become a part of the solution for our families, neighborhoods and communities.

This past Sunday we wrapped up our Generosity series. Our heart was to invite all of us into a lifestyle of generosity as humans with our time, money and resources. One of the signatures of the New Testament church was radical generosity.

On Sunday, Pastor Eric shared with us why this conversation about our money is important as it is connected to our spiritual formation. The way we view money and the way we handle money is not something separate from our spiritual formation. The decision to follow Jesus involves every part of our lives. He encouraged us to bring the area of our finances into the journey of being shaped and formed by God. It is here we gain His perspective on what he has in mind and we move to a place where we trust God with our finances.

He also brought up the topic of “tithing” and unpacked some questions surrounding it such as:

*What does the bible say about tithing?

*What was the origination and purpose of tithing?

*Is tithing required in the New Covenant?

Our goal with this series was to invite each of us to a deeper understanding of how important our finances, time and resources are to our spiritual formation and the invitation to be a part of what God is doing on the earth.

This past Sunday, we had Steven Gilliam bring part 3 to our Generosity series. He and his family areapart of Studio. He is an entrepreneur, business owner and he also has a degree of Master of Arts in Biblical & Theological Studies.

Steven taught from 2 Corinthians 9:6-15. In verse 6 and 7:

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

Generosity is designed to be fun and it’s something we can attach our faith to. He shared how he is dreaming of ways to increase his generosity and was deeply marked by acts of generosity he’s experienced through his life. He encouraged us to live with a reality that there is more than enough. It is in this place we recognize we follow a God who always has more than enough and we get to participate in sowing and distributing. We also should be aware there is a reaping component to our generosity and this is how God designed it.

We are in the second week of our four week “Generosity” series. Our hope is to grow as followers of Jesus; in His ways, words and values. We also long to grow in the heart and spirit of generosity as this will impact our ability to steward well and walk in faith.

Pastor Candace shared from Matthew 10 that Jesus sends out the 12 disciples and He instructs them in verse 7-8:

"As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give."

What if blessing and freedom didn't stop with us, but flowed through us and from us?

As we grow in freedom and in intentionally giving away what God has given us, here are some questions to ask ourselves:

What do you have to give?
What would it look like to live freely and generously with what God has given you?

Thank you Lord for what you have given us, have done in us, and thank you for what you are doing in us now. (take time to thank God, you might not have everything, but you have…).

Lord, give us a generous and willing heart and fill us with your spirit. Open our eyes to see what we have to offer, invest and sacrifice. We choose to live open handed with the things you give us.

We kicked off our “Generosity” series this Sunday. Pastor Eric posed the question “What is your relationship with money?” Knowing that each of us have our own upbringings and life experiences which essentially shape and form our relationship with money. Here are some questions we went over on Sunday to help you move towards a clear idea of your relationship with money:

Is it one where fear is the motivator?
Do you have a perspective of money where it is wrong to have it or is there an amount that is wrong to have?
Is money something that is associated with evil?
Is money a means or an end to achieve happiness
Is greed at play in this relationship?
Is it a highly emotional relationship?
When you lose a lot of money what happens to your emotions and mind in the process?
When you see someone with a lot of resources and/or money what are some of your initial thoughts and opinions about that person?

Our goal in week 1 was to identify and to be able to articulate our relationship with money so that we can bring it to light and allow God to come in and disciple us in this area of our lives according to a Kingdom Perspective.

Just as we see in nature through each season, we, as people and followers of Jesus also aim to continue to grow and become all that God created us for. As humans we recognize our design to be in relationship and connection. One thing that we can do to grow and expand ourselves is to become better communicators and better listeners. James 1:19-20 encourages us as we navigate trials:

"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." ‭‭‬‬

Communication greatly impacts our relationships and the better communicators we can become, the better relationships we can have. Let’s continue to grow, be better humans, neighbors/friends/family, and better communicators.

We ask that the Lord will continue to grow us, open our ears and give us a heart to listen.

Pastor Eric took us on a journey involving two people in the story of Jesus and his journey to his death and resurrection: Nicodemus and Mary. Two very different people and yet they both had these moments with Jesus that essentially changed their entire lives.

One was apart of the religious establishment which made the decision to crucify him and the other sold her body for a living. Here we see how Jesus was able to touch two very different people and because he rose from the dead he created pathways for people to move from being dead to alive.

On this Easter Sunday we celebrated that Jesus had the answer to death and he addressed all the internal longings of the human soul.

This past Sunday was Palm Sunday. As we kicked off Holy Week and started our journey towards Good Friday and Easter, we wanted to take a moment to immerse ourselves into the story of Jesus coming into Jerusalem riding on a donkey while palm branches were being waved.

One of the dynamics of this moment is the people gathered for the Passover, organized a parade, a party, a celebration for the Messiah. For them they were expecting him to become their King. They had no idea he was about to experience Good Friday, which was an unimaginable and incomprehensible day.

Pastor Eric wrestled with the paradox of a Victory parade taking place before the war. It was the calm before the storm, it was the day before the “day”. In this there is a glimpse of how Jesus operates and functions in this world.

You see, for most of us we wait for the war to be over before we celebrate a victory. As he rode the donkey, which is symbolic for peace, humility and it was what a new King would ride on to introduce himself as the new ruler. Jesus declares he is victorious before the war.

A Echo Chamber is an enclosed space where sound reverberates / an environment in which a person encounters only beliefs or opinions that coincide with their own, so that their existing views are reinforced and alternative ideas are not considered.

We create these places as they are comfortable and are re-assuring. However if we want to truly mature as humans we must exit the echo chambers and commit to a life of building something that is very hard to build - Personal Character.

Pastor Eric took us through Luke 9 and we learned about the journey of the disciples who have been given power and authority and by the end of the chapter we see some significant character flaws get revealed: pride, arrogance, and the desire to wipe out a city with fire.

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power,”

It’s so much easier to talk and dream about spiritual gifts and it is so much harder to talk and dream about building character. The development of your character is something you are in control of while calling and destiny is something that was a gift to you from God. Pastor Eric took us on a journey that was raw, provoking and invited us into something bigger than all of us combined. He shared his own personal journey of being in the church and reminded us that “church” was God’s idea and not man’s idea.

History has proven that all the forces of humanity have still not been able to hinder the message of Jesus, in fact the more persecution it faces has only caused the message of Jesus to expand and grow.

He spent some time talking about the reality that many have been hurt or wounded by the church in some capacity and to realize God uses imperfect people to build his church. He uses people to help you grow in areas in your life that can only happen if you are around people. He uses your imperfections to help others grow in areas they need to grow in. This talk was an invitation to be a part of what Jesus is doing on the earth with his body and to participate in seeing the bride of Christ became all she is designed to be.

This past Sunday, Pastor Candace shared out of the book of Proverbs. One of the key words in the book of proverbs is wisdom: “the ability to live life skillfully.” in Proverbs chapter 2:1-6 NKJV it reads:

"My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;"

These words are active and not passive. In our pursuit of knowing God let us posture ourselves to receive, to value, listen to, cry out, seek and search for Him. Let us not be okay with just knowing about God, but let us draw near to know Him intimately and to know His ways.

Pastor Rheva talked to us about the Power of the Word. In Hebrews 4:12 it reads:

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

She shared how the word can Change Us, Cure Us, and Comfort Us.

It also is living, its active and its always moving.

Nothing can pierce us to the core of who we are more than the Word of God.

In the final week of the Life of Daniel series we recognized we are chosen by God. We are a people who are a part of the Kingdom that was promised to Daniel in chapter 7. This talk was to help us all realize who we are and as well to help us mitigate the shadow sides of being chosen.

Pastor Eric uses a framework from Erwin McManus: Design, Calling and Character. Design pushes you you forward, Calling pulls you and Character is up to you to develop. If you don't have the character necessary to match your design and calling, things get out of place and you will begin to experience a design flaw.

This past Sunday we continued our Life of Daniel series. In part 4, Eric spent some time unpacking Daniel 6 and the famous story of Daniel and the Lions Den. Even though it is a familiar story for some it is also a gold mine for us as humans living in the culture we live in.

We learn that Daniel at this point has now been in Babylonian captivity for just over 60 years. He has risen to be one of the top three leaders in the empire. He is serving King Darius and it was his faithfulness to God that unveils the corruption and jealousy of the culture. As things transpire, we see this beautiful friendship get revealed between a pagan king and a godly man. This right here is inspiring and is a great example of what is possible as we live in culture and to have deep meaningful friendships with others that don’t follow Jesus.

This week we continued our LIfe of Daniel series. Our goal in this series is to do a study on the Life of Daniel to gain understanding of God’s view of humanity and his invitation to participate in his mission on earth. To also be able to walk away understanding how Daniel was able to be and to lead in a culture that did not have a Christian worldview and remain devoted to God.

Pastor Eric took us through Daniel 3 and the moment between King Nebuchadnezzer and Shadrach, Meschach and Abed-Nego. We took our time to go over a few key things we can learn to help us in this journey.

Culture wants you to bow down to it: We took some time to recognize the parallels of bowing down to idols in ancient times to bowing down in modern times.

Being devoted to God even if he doesn’t come through like we expect: Not letting our experience shape our beliefs and theology.

How and why they didn’t bow down: In the midst of a tense cultural moment let’s learn how and why they stood while everyone bowed.

Get together with friends to change the world: If you want to change the world, then find some friends and go change the world.

This week Pastor Candace called us to a place to recognize God is drawing near to us and our response to him is one of great importance.

God is calling us to a place of purity. In Ephesians 4:27 it reads "and give no opportunity to the devil." Our encouragement to each one of us is to walk in humility and allow God to purify our hearts and minds. There are places God wants to take us which requires us to shed things that will hold us back.

In part 2, Pastor Eric walked us through Daniel 2. and we began to see Daniel walk in his gifting and skills with dreams and interpretation. We also see God's love for humanity in placing Daniel alongside a pagan king who has a troubling dream. We see God's love for humanity in saving the lives of magicians and sorcerers. We see the importance of being in culture by the timing of Daniel being in close proximity to the King. We also learned there are spiritual skills and gifts that God gives to reveal he is the King of Kings, god of gods, revealer of secrets….in this case it caused Daniel to rise to a prominent place and now sits in the Kings court.

He was alive over 2500 years ago. He was the leader of Magicians and Sorcerers, an advisor to foreign kings, a governor in a pagan society....and all the while he worshipped and followed one God. Pastor Eric kicks off a study of looking into the life of Daniel. We learn he was involuntarily deported into a polytheistic culture to learn the language, custom and the ways of life in Babylon.

He quickly rose to becoming governor and eventually stood in the King's Court. Our goal is to learn how Daniel lived in this culture and yet remained devoted to God. We also aim to gain a broader perspective on God's view of humanity and how he cares deeply for humanity. As we wrap up 2023, Pastor Eric shared about how we long for new beginnings and fresh starts. There are times in our life we need a "reset". He challenged us to not dismiss or move on from what happened in our lives this past year but rather acknowledge and recognize what took place so we can embrace the idea that nothing goes to waste. If we choose this approach then all of our experiences and moments become building blocks for the future. They become a foundation for 2024.

In Eccl. 3:11 it reads "he has made everything beautiful in its time...". Another way to read this is "if it's not beautiful its not over". Listen to today's talk about how nothing in your life goes to waste.

As we move through life, each environment we create or step into shapes and forms us. Each of these spaces often has unwritten limitations or boundaries. You learn where the lines are and where they exist. Whether it be your work, school, home, or your third place. If you choose to exist, whether you want to or not, in these environments you have to in many ways accept these limitations or boundaries in order to be able to function and get along in it. Limitations and boundaries can be really beautiful and play a vital role in the success of relationships, environments, purpose and what it seeks to be.

However, when you start talking about creating a future and when these limitations become self-imposed limitations you won't create a future but instead you will recreate your past. Start making decisions that break off limitations and boundaries that are no longer for you. They no longer need to exist in your life and you want to create a future without todays limitations.

In this week’s talk Pastor Eric shared about how the birth of Jesus is a moment in the larger story of what God is writing. What’s really remarkable is to see all the hints and clues that pointed to the birth of Jesus and what we would do for humanity, but did you know he would live in exile the first two years of his life?

In Matthew 2:13 we read,

Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”

We often talk about the humble beginnings of Jesus but let’s not forget he lived in exile as well. From the very beginning he was on the outside of society and he lived as a foreigner. This experience shaped and formed him and it is also what enabled him to be the one who understood the plight of ones that were the outcast, rejected, shamed, alone and unaccepted.

So remember that Jesus understands firsthand the human experience of being alone and on the outside. Our prayer for this Christmas as we celebrate his birth you would experience Jesus coming not only to earth but to you and your life and meeting where you are at right now in our life.

As we start the Christmas Season of celebrating the birth of Jesus. Let's take a look at how Jesus entry into this world was the hope of all humanity.

You can tell the health of a human soul by its ability to hope. You can tell the strength of a human soul by it’s ability to hope in the middle of darkness. One of the great challenges of being human is to remain hopeful. What do you do when you have lost hope or even lost the ability to hope? How do we get on in this life and hold onto hope?

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Pastor Eric takes a look at how Jesus came into this world was so under-the-radar and why this was necessary and important. An experiment was done in the 90’s in a man-made climate controlled dome named the Biosphere 2. It was a research tool so they could create any climate needed for testing. Even to this day it is still the largest closed ecological system ever created. It has a rainforest, ocean w/ coral reef, savannah, fog desert and wetlands. In the attempt to understand how to live in outer space they made quite a few discoveries along the way.

One of the most profound discoveries made by the scientists had to do with the trees. The trees inside Biosphere 2 grew rapidly, more rapidly than they did outside of the dome, but they also fell over before reaching maturation. After looking at the root systems and outer layers of bark, the scientists came to realize there was one thing the environment failed to provide. It was Wind. There was no wind in Biosphere 2 and this led to a deficiency of what is called “stress wood” in the trees.

The question we need to ask ourselves is, are we letting the storms in our life build resilience in us? Or are we spending more time trying to get out of the storms?

This past Sunday, Candace shared the final part in our series “Strong Faith, Contagious Hope, and Enduring Love”. She spoke to the role that we all play in elevating those around us and contributing into the spaces where we live. God never meant for blessings to stop with us, but that we are to be salt and light wherever we go. In Proverbs 11:10-11 it says,

When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.

As we think about and pray for our city, let’s ask ourselves:

What do I have to GIVE?
What can CONTRIBUTE?
What can I SACRIFICE?

We live in an incredible area that is in the middle of it’s story right now. Let’s love our city well by being people who are willing to take responsibility, contribute, and are willing to sacrifice for those around them.

We pray for our city, the people who live here, the land, and for wisdom and guidance as leaders establish vision, culture and values here.

In this weeks talk, Pastor Eric challenged us that we need to rethink how and to walk out a more dynamic approach to our cities. An approach that goes beyond what benefits us personally and begins to lean into what benefits a city. Cities are organisms that move and have life. Humans build cities. Humans design cities. Humans shape cities. We collectively create the culture within cities. This very thing we build is also what shapes us.

In Part 5 to our Strong Faith, Contagious Hope and Enduring Love series we looked at the story of Nehemiah. In Neh. 1:4, there is this moment where Nehemiah heard news that Jerusalem has been destroyed and his response was “he wept”. It’s a beautiful response and it’s indicative that Nehemiah had a deep love for his city. Our hope is that each of us would be moved to a place to deeply care about the city we live in and not just exist in them.

As we learn with the rest of the story of Nehemiah he goes on to lead one of the most remarkable rebuilding projects. It is one that is inspiring and in this story are keys for leadership, engagement and what is possible.

Pastor Eric did a talk titled “The Next”. Some things have taken place recently with Studio and in his life that indicate we are stepping into The Next. This is exciting and with it is an invitation to go on an adventure and take risk.

We spent our time in 2 Kings 6:1-7. This is a story where the sons of the prophet Elisha go to him and tell him we need to build a bigger space for us. They recognized their canvas was too small, they had reached the limit and needed to create more space for what God was doing in their lives. Secondly, we shouldn’t be surprised when miracles take place. We have learned that when we are moving into the future with God, there needs to be space in our thinking and in our lives where we realize God has to show up in whatever we do. Lastly, when Elisha asked the man to pick up the ax head, he was having him participate in the miracle. There is a participation component to what God is doing. Pastor Candace shared about the powerful presence and person of the Holy Spirit. God is so good and has provided everything for relationship, salvation, life, and freedom. Pastor Eric shares part 4 of the series Strong Faith, Contagious Hope and Enduring Love.

The ability to trust, believe and have “faith” is evidence there are things we haven’t seen, heard or experienced. Faith is the vehicle that moves us to an unseen dimension; it also moves the unseen dimension towards us. Faith is what separates us from all other species, it is what makes us human. No other species has the ability to have faith, need faith or long for something more.

In Mark 9:24 it reads - Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” One thing we recognize is that part of our journey of faith is understanding there is a journey of also battling unbelief, doubt and fear. As we follow Jesus it’s vital to understand there are different frequencies. There is a frequency of fear, frequency of doubt, frequency of unbelief and a frequency of faith. We are surrounded by each of these frequencies and we get to choose which frequency we listen to.

Our good friend Nate Edwardson did part 3 of our “Strong Faith, Contagious Hope and Enduring Love” series.

He took us on a journey through Luke 24, where Jesus is walking with the disciples after he died and resurrected. The disciples are in a state of confusion as to the recent happenings of Jesus and yet they were unaware he was with them at this moment. It was here, Jesus was right there with them as they were walking away from Jerusalem. He was walking with the disciples who were going in the wrong direction. It’s amazing to see Jesus be willing to walk in the wrong direction with people. The question Nate posed to us is “are we willing to walk with others in the wrong direction”.

One of the other powerful moments in Luke 24 is when Jesus opened up the scriptures to them. Nate shared that it was Jesus who opened up the scriptures to them and he encouraged us to not just read the bible but to do it with Jesus as he longs to reveal to us his Word. In this series we are wanting to see us be a people who are growing in our faith and one of the ways we do this is through the reading of his scriptures. Our prayer is your heart begins to be stirred to read and engage with the scriptures in such a way you experience the person of Jesus.

Your story is powerful! This past weekend, Pastor Shayna spoke about becoming generational storytellers. Our stories can be roadmaps for future generations that point to the power and awe of God. What if out of the abundance of our hearts, we allowed our mouths to speak of what God has done in our life? Let’s become storytellers for a generation!

Psalms 78:1-8 shows us the importance of telling this next generation "the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done." Our bodies are designed to make long-term memories when something is repetitively remembered. Don't get weary of telling what God has done in your life, it could help build trust in the Lord for future generations. Jesus commanded Joshua to build a physical representation with 12 stones to remind "all the people of the earth so they might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God,” (Joshua 4:24).

By telling your story to another, you could become the physical representation of the power and awe of God, bringing someone back to hope, and being able to stand for the unseen.

This past Sunday, Candace shared a message on “The Place Where We Stand”. There is a battle for our lives, hope, peace, and future and we are called to stand. One of the key places that this battle is fought on, is our minds. Even when things are swirling, we are called to live in peace and to stand our ground. God is growing us, strengthening us, and anchoring us in Him.

“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]. 4 “Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages] Isaiah 26:3-4 AMP

We chose what we feast on and where we want to live. We can live in chaos, fear, torment, or peace - and it often has little to do with what is happening, and more to do with our thoughts and agreements. What we think about and partner with will impact how we live and who we become.

We continued the talk from the previous week called The House that Wisdom Builds. One thing humans have in common is a deep longing to be someone who can stand the test of time and stand tall through all the experiences of being human. In part 2 of this talk, we looked at a few things that we can do to help build a house (us) that can withstand and last through all the elements of the human experience.

The first thing we brought up was the ability to articulate what it is you long for. There is this moment when Jesus asked Blind Bartimeus “what can I do for you?” It's interesting that Jesus still asked the question when it seems obvious what Bartimeus needs. In our journey of life, being specific about what you long for in your life is something Jesus looks for and is important to Him.

Secondly, understanding there is a difference between having no pain and being healthy. Do you wonder how much of our lives are we just trying to get out of pain, but not doing what it takes to get to a place of health. It is vital our motivation in life shouldn’t just be to not have pain, but to be in a place of health.

The last thing we talked about was asking ourselves the question, why is it so hard for us to receive instruction, advice and correction? Pride. The enemy of the house your soul longs to build is Pride. The enemy of your future is Pride. Imagine with me just on the other side of Pride is a house can be built that will stand the test of time. But because of Pride and Self Preservation we will miss out on wisdom, understanding and knowledge to build a house that goes into the future and increases in strength, courage and blessings. It’s time to confront the pride in our life.

*Understanding is the why

*Knowledge is the information and material in front of you.

As we read scriptures it is evident that God wants to build his people not just to survive, but to actually live a life they were designed to live. One of the most beautiful aspects of creation is sound. God determined that sound would exist in his creation and we would be able to create sound in so many different ways. Certain words put together in certain ways, can bring destruction or create life. Certain words put together a certain way can lead to a world of possibilities.

On Sunday we looked at 2 Chronicles 20 and examined a story where multiple armies are on the verge of attacking the nation of Judah. Listen to hear how God steps in and fights the battle for them and how their sound was instrumental in seeing the enemy defeated. What we can learn from this story is we often forget as a follower of Jesus our future isn’t only created because we know what we are doing and what we are capable of doing, it’s created because we surrender our lives and we seek Him.

In this week's talk “The Art of Battle” we learned that each of us have a longing to know why we exist and what our purpose is. Sometimes we don’t know who we are because we never had a battle to reveal who we are.

In Zechariah 1:18-21, we read about 4 craftsmen who were sent to battle against the enemy of God. This is a unique strategy of God to send craftsmen and artisans to war. Through this scripture we learn that part of our existence is connected to creating while we are in battle.

When in war, Create

When you are oppressed, Create

When you are trying to survive, Create

When you want to find out why you exist, Create

The enemy of your soul is mediocrity

The enemy of your soul is oppression

The enemy of your soul is becoming stagnant

The enemy of your soul is being scattered

The response to all this is CREATE!!

This past weekend, Pastor Eric wrapped up the study on the Holy Spirit. It is evident throughout scripture that where the Spirit is there is life. This Sunday’s talk was framed around three questions regarding the Spirit of God:

*Why is being filled with the Spirit of any value today?

*How do you know the Spirit is in you?

*What’s next?

We learned that the Spirit in us isn’t just for us but it also means we get to be participants in the mission of Jesus in touching all of humanity. There are things we are to do while we follow Jesus that can only come with the power of the Spirit that lives in you. When the Spirit of God lives in you we learn there are things he gives to us: Gifts of the Spirit.

We looked through different places in the bible that reference these gifts and we moved towards this reality that God gives us these gifts to enable us to live and do just life like Jesus did. These gifts are designed to bring heaven to earth. These gifts are for you!

We continued our study of the Holy Spirit. We took a moment to unpack the definition of the word Spirit and how it directly relates to our existence and the creative power that follows the Spirit of God wherever it goes.The Old Testament was almost entirely written in Hebrew. Some parts in Aramaic.* Hebrew word for Spirit - Ruach: breath, wind, spirit. * Hebrew word for Sacred/Holy - Kodesh

The New Testament was written in Greek, which was the common language at the time.* Greek word for Spirit - Pneuma * This is where we get our English words - Pneumatic, pneumonia.

In Genesis 1:2 we read that the Spirit hovered over the waters and this was the precursor to all of creation being created. In the Gospels we read how the Spirit overshadowed Mary and life was created in her and in time she gave birth to Jesus. Pastor Eric emphasized one of the beautiful dynamics of the Spirit is wherever the Spirit is, life is created. It is because of the Spirit we become a new creation. As we journey through this study as a community we want to encourage each of us to take some time out of our lives to continue to express your personal desire for a relationship with the Holy Spirit. On Sunday, pastor Candace encouraged us to continue to grow, mature, and expand as disciples of Jesus. She challenged us, by asking if: Loving God and loving people are mutually exclusive or if we are capable of being people of deep conviction while also being able to hold space for others?

At Studio, we aim to be a multi dimensional community, (ethnically, culturally, and generationally) who live surrendered to God, and gather around the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. To do life with people that are different from us is our dream and we also acknowledge that it requires more of us. We need more of God’s love and to grow in:

Humility (Having an appropriate relationship with our opinion - Jim McNeish)
Curiosity of other people
The ability to triangulate truth (value others perspectives to get to a more whole picture)

Let us continue to grow in our love and conviction for the Lord, as we grow in our love for humanity.

Pastor Shayna shared a talk titled “Reclaiming your identity”. It was an incredible reminder that when we forget who we are we begin to live a life inferior to what we were designed to live. Here are 3 things to remember:

Knowing who you are introduces us to God the creator and invites people around you on the journey of discovering who they are.
Knowing who you are, keeps you from believing the lies, and renews your strength.
Knowing who you are, and where you come from allows you to move in the power of God without doubt. He gave you this authority: it's in your DNA.

In part 2 of the Holy Spirit series, we reflected on how the Bible is a collection of writings from approximately forty separate authors, written on three separate continents (Asia, Africa and Europe), comprised in three separate languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek), and was compiled over the span of an estimated 1,500–1,600 years. This is helpful to understand as we look at what Paul and Luke say about the Holy Spirit: two different and yet complementary views.

When we embrace what these two authors wrote about the Holy Spirit we are invited into a broader view of what baptism of the Holy Spirit is. Pastor Eric, encouraged us to embrace a "both/and" instead of an "either/or" when it comes to Paul and Luke's perspective and experience with the Spirit of God.

In part one of Holy Spirit, Pastor Eric did a study on some of the dynamic stories in the earlier parts of the Bible where you see the Spirit of God active in the lives of different individuals. These stories of old help us to see the intention of God, the heart of God and what happens when His Spirit is in someone.

When we read the words of Jesus towards the end of his life, he says "I must go, so someone else can come in my place". Just a little while later the Holy Spirit came to a small group of people in Acts 2. It is here we learn the Spirit of God in our life is now meant to be normative for everyone who says yes to Jesus. On Fathers day, Pastor Eric shared a message titled “Fathers and Men”. He asked two questions to all the men and fathers.

The first question was: Who is building your foundation? Jon Tyson said “Secularism disciples a man to learn to live without God”. As men and fathers, one of the most important decisions we can make is to be intentional about who we are allowing to shape and form us. We looked at the life of Daniel, who refused to be shaped by the culture he lived in and he continually turned his attention to God.

The second question was: Is your inner world designed for greatness? Eric encouraged all of us to become men of strong character. He talked through the 3 stages of developing character, where an attribute moves from an idea to becoming who you are. We have this incredible opportunity to become men who take ownership of our inner world so greatness can happen.

In the journey of our human experience and for those who have chosen to follow God, we talked about how we are designed to hear and sense God. Our experiences throughout our life essentially shape and form our perspectives and how we view the world. How we see the world also affects how and what decisions we make. As we journey through life, it is essential to allow the good news of Jesus to shape our perspectives and thinking continually. This week we took time to give a broad update on Studio. We talked about a variety of things that have happened and are going on from Studio Kids, baptisms, baby dedications. So many wonderful things to celebrate of what is taking place in our community. We also chatted for a few minutes around some of the dynamics we are navigating as leaders in regards to our Sunday gatherings and the growth of attendance. One of things that is important to us as well is to give an update on Studio's finances in it's first year as well as how we manage our finances for transparency purposes. Have you ever thought about the Early Church and their relationship to the words: potential, purpose, goals, and the like? Today, those words are front and center when it comes to how the majority of us build our lives and even how we position ourselves to serve God. These words in and of themselves are very good words, but in a society that measures value by how big and fast things are, these words can become challenges to us as disciples of Jesus as we attempt to build “big lives” and “big results” to please Him.

In the talk this week, Pastor Tinasha explores what it would look like to take the pressure off of ourselves, to abandon the human need for epic, to lean into the Father’s heart for replicating his culture and his nature in the land. I believe there is freedom for us all in returning to the simple and aligning with the truth that we are already enough, significant, and fully loved as sons and daughters of God, and from this love, we get the privilege to participate in our Father’s greatest dream: reconciliation of all things to Himself.

In this talk, Pastor Eric continues on the topic of free will, the will of God and why does it seem God goes on mute when you are making major decisions in life.

As we move through life, each environment we create or step into shapes and forms us. Each of these spaces often has unwritten limitations or boundaries. You learn where the lines are and where they exist. Whether it be your work, school, home, or your third place. If you choose to exist, whether you want to or not, in these environments you have to in many ways accept these limitations or boundaries in order to be able to function and get along in it. Limitations and boundaries can be really beautiful and play a vital role in the success of relationships, environments, purpose and what it seeks to be.

However, when you start talking about creating a future and when these limitations become self-imposed limitations you won't create a future but instead you will recreate your past. Start making decisions that break off limitations and boundaries that are no longer for you. They no longer need to exist in your life and you want to create a future without todays limitations.

Pastor Candace shared about how endurance is a quality of character that does not allow one to surrender. In Hebrews 12 it reads "let us run with endurance the race that is set before us". In endurance sports there is a phenomenon called "Second Wind", it's where the athlete hit's a wall and they are very tired and/or out of breath and suddenly they find strength to continue to perform at a top level. Pastor Eric shares about one man’s journey of being raised in a dysfunctional home which led to a life of deception and survival. This man's name was Jacob. He spent his life working to deceive others so he could survive the reality he was in. He started out his life wrestling his twin brother and 97 years later he is found wrestling with God. Jacob had reached the end of himself and he is in this bizarre and unprecedented moment wrestling with God. It was here that he was confronted with his own brokenness and despair. It was also here he encountered God, got a new name and was blessed. This moment rewrote his future.

Have you ever wondered, where is Heaven? The location of Heaven has been a question that humanity has wrestled with throughout the ages. The invention of the telescope and what Copernicus and Galileo discovered in looking into the sky dramatically changed the perception of where most thought heaven was. Welcome to 2023 as Pastor Eric kicks off the year with a talk around the word "expanse". In the beginning, as God hovered over the darkness and void, he began to create everything in existence.
