Our news recently reported death and destruction from natural disasters — earthquakes, floods, bushfires, volcanic eruptions … Some disasters strike without warning, but there are others for which we can prepare. Some people don’t bother, assuming the government — or someone — will help when needed. Many are the same with their faith, making no preparation for life’s disasters, but assuming that God will help them. Rather than waiting for disaster to strike, how much better to develop a relationship with God during the good times, so that we have a comfortable way of talking with him when our safety and well-being are on the line.
