Being Source
The topic for this week's podcast is Being Source. During this podcast I want to suggest some activities or structures that any one can incorporate into their daily life that will help us remember who we truly are, i.e. our source-being. The first structure to implement is of course meditation. Your true being is lost in the midst of your busy life. There is no substitute to rekindling your connection to your essence by making a decision to spend time with and by yourself which is what meditation is. There are many ways to meditate. The way that I highly recommend is to meditate without any agenda, i.e. to sit in a quiet peaceful environment and don't have any expectation of what may or may not happen and simply be open to the possibility that your true self will reveal to you whatever you need to know. All expectation, in my opinion, is subject to the contamination of the ego and your ego has it's own agenda apart from your true self. We are under the sway of our ego agenda in every day life and the point of meditation as a mean to our true self is to let go of what the ego's agenda may be and allow the true self to come through. As such I recommend you prepare a peaceful environment with minimal distraction. Sit in a comfortable position and shift your attention to your heart. Allow any thoughts and emotions that arise during the meditation to leave while you return your focus to your heart. Give yourself at least 30 minutes of this quiet time meditation daily.
The second structure is to feel. Allow yourself to go through a day or even half a day to concentrate on experiencing your life without paying attention to your internal commentary. I had a very profound experience a few years ago when I was traveling abroad in Morocco far away from anything I'm familiar with and I was feeling a frustration with my traveling companion and it struck me one fine sunny day that I'm not experiencing my companion rather I'm feeling what my internal dialogue was telling me that I should feel and react to her. It hit me like a bolt of lightening that I had been going through the majority of my life reacting within this box created by my internal dialogue rather then simply feeling and experiencing my environment in the moment. It was the fear of rejection that had prevented me from being in the moment. It is not an easy habit to get out of but at least now I'm onto my own game and I am making much better progress in staying in the moment. It is invaluable to allow yourself to experience life without any judgement or other kind of internal dialogue. When you stay in the moment nothing sticks to you except who you truly are. What a simple and invaluable tool to remember and recover the source being within you.
The next activity or structure I suggest is to expand your consciousness. We have a body through which we can experience through this embodiment however we are not the body. We have been taught and socialize to put a lot of emphasis on limiting our awareness to our body. This practice separated us from the truth that we are all one. Separation is an illusion. Everything and everyone are aspects of ourselves. Each and everyone of us is an aspect of Source. Source is all that is. Expand your consciousness to reclaim your connection to your innate Source-being. You can expand your consciousness through your feeling. Allow yourself to feel or experience through your environment. For example, pick a target whether animate or inanimate and experience the world from the point of view of the target. Feel the temperature of the room through the vantage point of your target. Feel the vibration and all the thought-forms that is permeating the atmosphere through the vantage point of your target. Instead of attaching your conscious awareness solely to your body expand it to include your target as well. Allow in whatever experience that comes from this expansion of focus. When you get bored with your first target, select a different target and repeat this consciousness expansion practice. Start with targets that are in your immediate environment. When you get more adventurous you can aim for targets that are out of sight and miles away. You can also practice on targets that are in the past or future.
The fourth and last structure is to be in alignment with yourself at all times. Being in alignment means to know the truth of. We are social animals. We are raised to exist in a community. We are also each of us unique. No two persons are exactly the same just like our finger prints are unique so too is each of us created to be unique. We are meant to compliment each other and there is no greater purpose in life then to honor and foster our unique contribution to the collective. It takes courage to be unique in a society that demands conformity. Our civilization has lost it's way some where along history. We discriminate against folks who don't fit our norm. We discriminate on the basis of gender, believes, the color of our skin, the height of our body, the clothes we wear etc... The list goes on and on. We are so far removed from who we are and starved of love that we conspire to betray ourselves inorder to earn love or at the very least acceptance from others. There is no greater calling in life then to be in love with who you truly are for you are the personification of love. Know that you are love and act accordingly.
