Dean and I recently heard a story about some families that are having to fight in order to get their late husbands the same recognition and honors given to other officers recently.  Doug King served as a police officer for 17 years and Phil Closi served as police officers for 21 years, both with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. When both officers passed away last year, their families have been met with resistance and a fight in order to receive the honors they earned through their years of service. I am a strong supporter of law enforcement, and appreciate all they do for us. I also greatly admire all their families have to sacrifice to be supportive. Hearing these women's story hurts, and hearing how dedicated civil servants are not being properly recognized by their own department is devastating and is not how they deserve to be remembered.
