According to Carers UK An unpaid carer is someone who looks after a family member or friend who could not cope without their support. Every day, 6,000 people in the UK start looking after someone close to them, unpaid. For many, caring is something that happens gradually when someone becomes older. But, when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, whether temporary or long term, the need and level of care can become more imminent.
Olivia is 24 years old. Whilst most 24 year olds are starting their careers and out living their best lives, Olivia is looking after her mum and her brother who both have a cancer diagnosis. I had a chat with Olivia and just asked her what that was like for her as a young 24 year old girl with so much responsibility.
