One night as I sat in my car exhausted after work, I noticed in a split second, just how amazing the stars looked from my moonroof view. It was in this exact moment that I realized, I have not been truly present in months. How many people remember how content they were as a child just to look up at the sky and guess what shapes you saw in the clouds. Maybe you remember taking time as a child to find the constellations in the stars with a telescope. This made me ask myself what other simple childlike pleasures have I denied myself? When did I stop being present and looking up at the stars in the sky? When did I become a robotic workaholic?
In this episode I use a sick day off from work, just to go for a walk and pour back into myself. It's amazing what you notice when you’re fully present. On my drive to the park I found a never before seen community refrigerator. A fridge conveniently tucked behind a bodega with free food available for the community. At this point, the theme of my self care day was clear to me. What a beautiful simple act of kindness that probably goes un-noticed by many. The impact of this beautiful initiative made me wonder what can I do to help give back and contribute to the people in my community.
During my walk in the park I took time to write in my manifestation journal, meditate and talk to God. When you quiet the outside noise, center yourself and allow yourself to hear from God, the universe, a higher power, whatever you believe in; the universe will respond. Take a moment to ask yourself what areas in your life have you not been present for? What has consumed your worries? In my time alone I realized there is greed, a need for personal success and physical possessions that I needed to work on. I needed to acknowledged where my treasure lay in my life and where my heart laid.
To anyone thats listening, I hope you gain a deeper understanding of the importance of disconnecting from the world, to truly reconnect with yourself.
