This week I wanted to uncover what some would consider to be “battle scars”. How often do we acknowledge and celebrate ourselves for how far we've come. It takes so much strength and courage to make it through the things you've experienced and look nothing like it. Are you proud of yourself for winning certain life battles no one knows about? Who says we should feel shame and hide our pain? True victory becomes ours when we can be open and vulnerable about our life testimony.
I also dive into a topic that myself and many of my family members have had difficulty overcoming for years….the false perception of control. How many of us have done some pretty intrusive, crazy things because we believe we have to have power over every situation, every relationship, whether that be career or romantic. This belief that we can control all aspects of life isn't real!
I believe that none of the things we have in life are truly ours. However as people, this false sense of dominion, harming others in attempt to control what we think we own is misguided. Everything is borrowed, this time we have on earth, these bodies we consume. It is beyond crucial to do right by people while we have the time and to release the need for control to attain faith in God, the universe, whatever religious belief pertains to you. Not only is there freedom in this kind of release, there is also peace and helpfulness that arises when we stop being ashamed by what we have overcome in life.
