Dr. Marni Sommer, DrPH, MSN, RN, is the current head of the Gender, Adolescent Transitions and Environment (GATE) Program housed within the Sociomedical Sciences Department at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. She continues to dedicate her career to improving the integration of menstrual hygiene management and gender supportive sanitation solutions into global humanitarian response. Today, we chatted with Marni about the importance of curating menstrual health interventions for the community at hand, simple WASH solutions that can improve menstrual health at home, and why we should all be looking at public bathrooms differently.
