Americans love trains, but we need them to lose their goddamn minds. Post-pandemic a poll conducted by OneRail  found that 64% of Americans "view public transit and passenger rail favorably." And what's not to love? You don't have to drive. It's safe. It's good for the climate. It's scenic, exciting, and memorable. 

So how can America make a train network that is a glory instead of one that would embarrass Bulgaria? 

We need people not just to see trains "favorably"—they need to pine for trains, dream about them, draw them, collect them, and brag about them. We need people to see trains when they close their eyes. 

That is train mania.
