In this episode of Superhuman U, Patrick discusses four tips on how to overcome obstacles that all of us face daily. Whether we face hurdles from our family, friends, or even co-workers, Patrick recognizes that each of us has a specific set of challenges we face and have to overcome. He details how if we listen to the opinions of others about what we're good at, or what we're not so good at, our imaginations will close off and prevent us from unleashing our true potential. When we ingest others' opinions, our actions and thought processes become harmful to our sense of self-confidence, thus altering how we carry ourselves. Repeating negative things like "I can't imagine doing that, I'm not good at it" only hampers our self-esteem.
Patrick shares a personal memory with his audience about how he was told to live a 'simple life' to prevent onsetting any illness that others in his family experience. This sentiment led him to not fully apply himself in his studies.
What is a great way to overcome obstacles you may face? Try to write down everything people tell you. For each item you've written, distinguish if it is a fact versus an opinion. You may be shocked at what you discover!
