Acupuncture is a technique from traditional Chinese medicine in which practitioners insert very thin needles into specific points on the body (called acupoints) to treat health issues or promote wellness.

It originated in China and has been used in some form for at least 2,000–2,500 years. It is one of the most widely practiced forms of complementary or alternative medicine worldwide.

Modern/Western perspective

Many practitioners and researchers view the points as locations that can stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. This may trigger the release of the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals (such as endorphins), influence the nervous system, or produce other physiological effects. The exact mechanisms are not fully understood and may include some nonspecific (placebo) contributions.

In summary, acupuncture appears to work by a multi-level neuromodulatory process: locally interrupting pain signals and inflammation, segmentally gating them in the spinal cord, and centrally activating the body’s built-in pain-relief circuitry while influencing brain processing of pain.

Research continues to refine these mechanisms, particularly for chronic and neuropathic pain. Effects can vary by technique (manual vs. electroacupuncture), needling parameters, and individual factors.

Set a timer
Start with just 5 minutes. You can increase it later.
Close your eyes (or keep a soft gaze downward)
Rest your hands on your lap or knees.
Focus on your breath
Notice the natural feeling of breathing — the air coming in and out of your nose, or the rise and fall of your chest/belly.
Don’t try to control the breath. Just observe it.

No judgment — this is completely normal and part of the practice.
When the timer ends
Slowly open your eyes and take a moment before getting up.

Tips for success

Do it every day if possible (consistency matters more than long sessions).
Morning or evening usually works best.
You can also use free apps like Insight Timer, Headspace, or Calm if you prefer guided meditation at the beginning.
There’s no “perfect” way — the goal is simply to practice returning your attention again and again.

Forgiveness vs Reconciliation

These two concepts are often confused, but they are distinct and can exist independently. Understanding the difference is crucial when repairing broken trust.

Forgiveness can be a solo act.
Example: You forgive a parent who was emotionally abusive years ago. You release the anger so it stops controlling your life — but you still maintain low or no contact. Forgiveness here is for your healing.
Reconciliation is a joint project.
Example: After a betrayal (e.g., cheating or lying), the person apologizes, shows consistent change, and you both actively rebuild trust. Only then does the relationship resume in a meaningful way.

Important truth:

You can forgive without reconciling.

You can reconcile without truly forgiving (this usually leads to resentment and failure).

The healthiest path is often forgiving and then choosing whether reconciliation makes sense.

It’s usually based on some truth but gets exaggerated over time. The word can also just mean someone who’s famous for being exceptionally good at something, like a sports legend.

A legend is rooted in history with some real people or events, even if it’s exaggerated.

A myth is purely fictional, usually explaining natural phenomena or cultural beliefs, like gods and creation stories. Legends feel possible, myths feel supernatural.

When people talk about or explore finding their purpose in life, a lot of them have ideas on their actual life purpose, however, they don’t know where or how to start. There are others who make a list of their passions, write out what they would or would not do, and yet they are unable to squeeze out a purpose or draw an inference of the direction in life they’d like to take from their life preferences.

Lastly, there are the ones who question themselves “is this what I am supposed to be doing”?

Conquer Your Fears through Focus

When it comes to finding your path in life, you will have to accept that facing challenges is a part and parcel of the whole process and one of those challenges is “fear”.

Every now and then, we are faced with the fear of making the wrong choice, the fear of not being good enough, and the fear of failure. This fear may result in pain, embarrassment, confusion and of course we don’t want that.

It’s very common slang in software teams (especially among younger devs or in startups) because it’s quick and expressive. Everyone knows exactly what it means without a long explanation.

In "normal society" (non-coders), "janky" is pretty widespread casual slang, especially among younger adults, millennials, Gen Z, and even some older folks in certain regions. It's not niche to tech anymore.

A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that connects a thunderstorm cloud down to the ground, creating a funnel shape.

It forms when warm, moist air collides with cool, dry air, causing instability that can spin into a vortex with winds over two hundred miles per hour.

They can destroy everything in their path, from homes to vehicles, and usually last just a few minutes.

Ratings go like this: EF-zero is sixty-five to eighty-five miles per hour with light damage, EF-one is eighty-six to one-ten with moderate damage, up to EF-five over two hundred miles per hour where well-built homes are completely swept away.

Surveyors look at how structures are built and how badly they’re damaged to estimate the winds.

A tornado warning means a tornado has been spotted or radar shows one is likely — take cover immediately.

A tornado alert usually means a tornado watch, which just means conditions are right for a tornado to form — you should stay aware and be ready, but you don’t need to shelter yet.

The warning is the one that says get to your safe spot now.
