Nikon has announced the addition of native Z-mount locking lens mounts for the RED V-Raptor and Komodo-X Cinema cameras, eliminating the need for adapters. This feature will be identified by a gold-colored locking lever. Since acquiring RED in 2024, Nikon has consistently worked to integrate the two corporate cultures. Earlier efforts included adding support for Z-mount lenses to the large format 8K Vista Vision V-Raptor and the 6K Komodo , which required an optional Z to PL-mount adapter priced at $1,500. Nikon also updated the firmware for RED’s Komodo-X to support Nikon RAW in its professional IPP2 Workflow.
