If the universe created by Eric Rohmer's My Night at Maud's is accurate, everyone in mid-20th century France was obsessed with Pascal's Wager, a theory of religious conversion via game theory that is dumb. It's just dumb.

The movie, though, the movie is good! At least better than the two Moral Tales we’ve seen so far, and — spoiler — having watched the rest, Maud’s holds out as one of the best.
