Ernst Lubitsch's vision of the afterlife as the bureaucratic world of 1940's titans of industry is in line with many of my very favorite comedic depictions of satan and hell, reminding me both Bedazzled (1967) and The Good Place but in time and place appropriate clothing.

Heaven Can Wait is the first film Lost in Criterion has stumbled upon in our quest in a very long time that doesn't have an overt political point, which is refreshing but also doesn't stop us from talking about it's subtextual political point at length. On one hand we can read politics into anything, but on the other I think we have a fair reading. In any case, it's a funny film.
