Jacques Becker made a perfect movie with Le Trou. He was very good at making movies, you see.
Unfortunately, earlier than that masterpiece of a final film, he made Casque d'Or. It has a lot of good things going for it, particularly an amazing final sequence that doesn't quite do what everyone thinks it does but is still quite good. Also, two guys have a knife fight and the only audio is them huffing while they roll around on the ground which is the sort of realism I actually appreciate because it's ridiculous.
