There are indications that the fear of Child Birth Spacing, CBS in the society is gradually coming to an end.

The development might not be unconnected with the fact that the Child birth spacing service is now free and that authorities concerned have intensified awareness campaign on the importance of the Child spacing.

Correspondent Tasi'u Hassan, who was part of the journalists that visited Primary Health Care Centre, Yelwa Domiciliary and Primary Health Care Centre Bayan Fada in the metropolis to ascertain the Child Birth Spacing Services, completes the report.

The Child Birth Spacing which was hitherto been running away from by married men and women, could be said to have seen the light of the day now, due to the number of women of child bearing age accessing the services.

The Officer in charge of Family Planning Unit, Primary Health Care Yelwa, Domiciliary and the in charge of Primary Health Care Centre, Bayan Fada, Hajiya Zulaihatu Sa'id Sambo and Hadiza Ahmed Maikudi, said the number of women accessing the services is quite encouraging.

While about 400 clients visit Primary Health Care Centre, Yelwa Domiciliary every month for the Child Birth Spacing Services, Primary Health Care Centre, Bayan Fada, receive over 500 clients for same services per month.

One thing that remains a challenge to the CBS services in the facilities according to Hajia Zulaihatu Said and Hajia Hadiza Mai Kudi is lack of adequate commodities and consumables.

Some mothers interviewed at the facilities said they practice the Child Birth Spacing in order to maintain their health and that of their children.

A mother of three, Deborah Kepas Arum, said she gave two years interval between her first and second child, and 5 years between the second and the third one, saying she was at the facility to change the method of the spacing, as the previous one has a desired effect on her.
