Robin Horsfall was born in Farnham, Surrey, in the United Kingdom. Following a divorce from his birth father, his mother Hazel married his step-father, who adopted him and gave him the name Horsfall. A broken family life adversely affected his education, so he left school in 1972 at the age of fifteen and joined the army as a boy soldier.

Despite a long period of isolation and bullying by his peers, he became a full member of the Parachute Regiment in 1974 and served three tours of Northern Ireland. In 1978 he volunteered for SAS selection and passed on his second attempt in March 1979. He went on to qualify as a Paramedic and Sniper.

He was a member of the SAS counter terrorist team that assaulted the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980, helping to rescue the nineteen hostages who had been held for six days. In April 1982 he partook of Operation Mikado in the Falklands War. In 1986 he was the bodyguard to Dodi Al-Fayed in London, a Contract Soldier Sri Lanka and in 1987 bodyguard to Sheikh Mohammed and John Ackah Blay-Miezah amongst many men he has protected over the decades.

He wrote the highly successful autobiography Fighting Scared. He has written a trilogy of his own philosophical proverbs, short stories, maxims and poetry known as The Words of the Wise Old Paratrooper. More recently in 2021, he produced a collection of more sombre works from throughout the years which paired with striking illustration became Warrior Poet: A Soldier’s Songs.

Robin has had an extraordinary life and has been speaking about it at events both small and large for over 10 years.

I sit with Matt Larsen, Seb Levoie and John Valentine to discuss Man Camps and Rites of Passage. We discuss the Modern Day Knight Project, but that is not our main focus. While I believe that camps are beneficial to men, they are not the be all end all to a man's existential issues. MDKP cannot give that to you.

The solution to man's existential crisis isn't found at camps, but goes deeper, and those issues are covered by writers such as Van Gennep, Robert, Bly, Robert L Moore & Gillette, Carl Jung, and Joseph Campbell. If a man doesn't have some kind of meaning in his life he is going to have issues fitting into his culture.

Man camps can be good; it's best that you search for some that don't posit they are going to provide you all of the skills and experience needed to handle all of life's battles; it comes from being disciplined daily and not expecting breakthroughs via these 72hr (or longer) camps.

We’re not here to attack the man, but the argument and see if the argument is sound.

Sergeant First Class (SFC) Ryan Hendrickson is a brave, determined, and courageous soldier — a Green Beret clearing the way for his twelve-man team while conducting combat operations against the Taliban.

As the “tip of the spear,” his role is to insure the route taken by U.S. and Afghan troops are free of IEDs — improvised explosive devices. Many soldiers do not survive their last step; those who do often lose at least one limb. While rescuing an Afghan soldier outside a mud-hut compound in 2010 — knowing that he was in “uncleared” territory — Ryan stepped on an IED with his right foot. The device exploded, leaving his foot dangling at the end of his leg.

American soldiers losing a limb is an all-too-common occurrence. But what makes Ryan’s story different is that after undergoing two dozen surgeries and a tortuous rehabilitation, he was medically retired but fought to return to active duty.

Multiple skin grafts to his lower leg and right foot successfully reattached his lower leg, and he was aided in his recovery by wearing a new prosthetic device known as an IDEO (Intrepid Dynamic Exoskeletal Orthosis).

Once he passed a series of crucial physical tests, Ryan was able to rejoin the Green Berets within a year and physically perform his duties, redeploying to Afghanistan in March 2012.In 2016, he volunteered to return to Afghanistan with Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group. During a firefight with the Taliban, he risked his life under heavy enemy fire to rescue three Afghan soldiers cut off from friendly forces and return the bodies of two dead Afghan soldiers under the ethos that “no one gets left behind.”

For his heroic efforts on the battlefield, SFC Ryan Hendrickson was awarded a Silver Star, the nation’s third-highest award for valor.

An engaging and harrowing account, Tip of the Spear tells the amazing story of one Green Beret’s indomitable spirit.

Master Corporal (Retired) Gordon Hurley is a fifteen-year Canadian Military veteran. In 2008, with little training, he was added as a late replacement to the Reconnaissance platoon. He wasn’t meant to be there. It took until an Improvised Explosive Device went off, requiring surgery at Kandahar Airfield with three weeks of recovery, to be integrated into the platoon. Returning to operations meant suppressing not only the physical but also mental injuries caused by the IED.

“The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.” – Lt. Spiers.

The closeness of death, not just that incident but war in general, allowed Gordon to accept death. This is an extraordinary power to have, providing 'control' over fear. He transitioned from Reconnaissance platoon to the highest full spectrum operations at CANSOFCOM as a special forces operator and joint terminal attack controller.

This 'fly too close to the sun mentality' has dire side effects, including suicide. If you are already okay with dying, then what makes you stop?

- Book Bipolar General: Bipolar General: My Forever War with Mental Illness (Association of the United States Army) https://amzn.to/41UGBVG

I hope you get a lot out of watching this video. Such an accomplished soldier, and so insightful with his book and recommendations for handling his bi-polar disorder!

Maj. Gen. Gregg Martin cut a striking figure in the Army: athletic, quick witted, devout, and studious, he was a natural leader. Thanks to his engineering and leadership knowhow, Martin was chosen to lead the thousands of combat engineers who paved the way for 100,000 Army troops to battle their way to Baghdad in 2003. Martin was astonishing to watch as he led this effort, his mind laser focused and body vibrating with energy. He made quick decisions, often anticipating and solving problems before orders came down. Only years later would he learn how the pressure of organizing dozens of simultaneous life-or-death missions each day altered the biochemistry of his brain. Since adolescence he’d had what psychiatrists call a ‘hyperthymic personality’ – an exceptionally positive, energetic, and can-do disposition. But the Iraq War triggered what military and Veterans Administration psychiatrists ultimately diagnosed as late-onset bipolar disorder, a chemical imbalance that sends sufferers whipsawing between grandiose imaginings and suicidal depressions. His increasing erratic behavior led to his forced resignation as president of the National Defense University and ended his military career.

In December 1965, he was promoted to captain and assumed command of Detachment A-301 at Ben Cat, which was under heavy pressure from insurgent forces . The fight for Ben Cat has been historically chronicled in books , publications and in the media. The performance of A-301 is legendary. On May 22, 1965, A-301 and its CIDG Strike Force was neutralized by a large insurgent attack with only part of the detachment and one of the original three companies of the Strike Force surviving. Stringham was then given the mission of recruiting, training and deploying a special mission mercenary force under the control of the J2/J3: COMUS MACV, code named Mike Force, and with a pathfinder/ special reconnaissance force code named Apache Force. Stringham used the Chinese Nung company that survived the attack at BEN CAT, recruited and trained three additional Nung rifle companies and two recon/pathfinder detachments in a period of six weeks. On the afternoon of July 20, 1965, Capt Stringham and the Mike Force were deployed in relief of two CIDG camps, BU DOP and BU GHIA MOP, then under siege by a large North Vietnamese Force. The operation would later be featured in the John Wayne movie, The Green Berets. In 1966, CPT Stringham was again assigned to South Vietnam and the 196th Infantry Bde. Stringham rotated from Vietnam in 1968, and served in two exchange officer assignments, as a tactical officer, Royal Military Academy in the UK and later at the Brazilian Army Staff College. In 1975 MAJ Stringham assumed command of the 2d Bn, 21st Infantry, 24th Infantry Div. In 1978, then LTC Stringham assumed command of the 1st Bn, 75th Infantry (Ranger). In 1981, he was assigned to the Department of Army Staff, Strategy, Plans and Policy, Latin America. COL Stringham assumed command of the U.S. Military Group in El Salvador in 1983. He later moved from El Salvador to assume J-3, Joint Special Operations Command. In 1985, he assumed command of the recently activated U.S. Army 75th Ranger Regiment where he made significant contributions to standards, training and procedures, concurrently responding to national contingency requirements. In 1987, he was assigned to 1st Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, where he planned and coordinated the special-operations response to the deepening crisis in Panama. A lot can be written here about poetry. Some of the poetry that we love the greatest  came from the last 75 years. Not only did they write poetry but many wrote books as well. We may not all agree with the politics of Archibald Mcleish or the perspective of Pound, but much of what they wrote about are universal themes of life, love, death, friendship, loneliness, anger, joy, God; can we relate to this? Chivalry and the Ideals of Knighthood in France during the Hundred Years War
https://amzn.to/3GduJls

I discuss the Odin Stone, the movie, A Bronx Tale, and keeping your word.

People lie today because the consequences are really not severe. We live in our modern culture where breaking our word really doesn’t have the serious political, social or personal consequences as they once did. In fact, some of our politicians, military and law enforcement members lie on a daily basis without serious repercussions.

In ancient Biblical times having honor was a serious matter. Though we live in modern times should keeping our word be different? In the past a man's reputation was the most important thing he owned. How could you be counted on to be lent money if everyone in town knew you were untrustworthy? In small towns or villages people talked. How about in platoons and companies? What kind of reputation do you want to have?

This is an episode from 2020. We posted this earlier on Spotterup. As of 2023, I am migrating everything to WFM due to being shadowbanned, and a host of other reasons. Please enjoy this episode.

John and Michael sit down to discuss what Mike watched during the protest and, subsequently, what happened during the capitol's storming.

They then discuss what this means for the future of the United States and their thoughts on the censorship and isolation of conservatives by large corporations.

Michael Yon (born 1964) is an American writer and photographer. He served in the Special Forces in the early-1980s, and he became a writer in the mid-1990s.

He focused on military writing after the invasion of Iraq. Yon has been embedded on numerous occasions with American and British troops in Iraq, most prominently a deployment with the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment (Deuce Four) of the 25th Infantry Division in Mosul, Iraq that ended in September 2005.

Yon has had vocal feuds with the United States military hierarchy, and the nature of his reports is also controversial.

However, according to Brian Williams of NBC, Yon enjoyed "rock star" status among individual soldiers. Yon's alternative media reporting has been mentioned by numerous mainstream media agencies. He has won accolades from the 2005, 2007, and 2008 Weblog Awards.

In 2008, The New York Times reported that he has spent more time embedded with combat units in Iraq than any other journalist.
He shifted the focus of his blogging from Iraq to Afghanistan in August 2008. His work is supported primarily by donations from readers.

“We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.”

― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man

I give my thoughts on the movement to control people. I talk about C.S. Lewis, Eric Blair (George Orwell) and the new modern movement that is trying to stifle free thinking.

We see a new world cut from old ideas to push this agenda of subjective thinking by using feelings or instinct until the modernist rules over others. Puppet-masters use their position of  power, manipulation or violence to rule over those who challenge them (this is just a few of their tools) all while insisting what’s good for the geese is not good for the gander. Pol Pot, Mao, Hitler, Stalin you name it, they’ve come and gone. They excited the public by telling them something wonderful was coming! We saw how those stories played out. Madmen who interpreted the world in their own fashion and pushed it upon the unsuspecting world. Thank God for champions who saw it coming, and did something to stop its spreading. Manipulation is back in vogue though, through a lot of the modern cultural movements.

Here is an unpolished presentation. Please enjoy! I talk about rites of passage in literature, and cinema. I give my opinion on specific characters in movies, such as A Man Called Horse. I also talk about the Spartans and Hollywood actors. Why do boys need a rite of passage? Listen and find out.

If you’re in a leadership role and have never mentored young men then keep in mind that many young men look like adults but are still operating as teens. They are still trying to figure life out and a good mentor can help point the way. Trying to figure out how to be responsible, how to be a man in a world with changing definitions and concepts, and how to fit in a group is difficult for a youth on his own; whether you are a company commander or a team leader doesn’t matter. Youth needs good leaders to give them structure. Learning how to navigate through life should first start at home. Father and son hunting rituals are a good place to start. Father and daughter events can prepare a young lady for more challenging events in life such as being away at college while under the demands of her sorority or life in the military.

CLIFF has been a Marine for over 20 years (with 12 years of active duty), with the majority of his military career spent serving as a reconnaissance team leader. His several deployments included Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990 & 1991, and to Somalia in 1992, and he finished his active duty service in San Diego as a drill instructor.

In 1996 Cliff left the military and joined the Los Angeles PD, where he worked patrol and with gangs and narcotics. In 2003, he took a break from police work to deploy to Iraq yet again for OIF I as a team leader with 4th Force Reconnaissance.

Cliff has instructor certifications in LAPD Arrest and Control, S.P.E.A.R. System™ and S.P.E.A.R. Tactical Ground Combatives, Combat Focus Shooting, Red Zone Weapons Defense level 2, Red Zone Adaptive Striking, Krav Maga Force Training Division Police, Military Combat & Marksmanship, Range Safety Officer, and level 2 Crossfit Trainer. Mr. Byerly was the Lead Instructor with the Police & Military Division for BTS, and is currently the founder of his new company Hill Country Combatives.

Cliff believes in realistic, progressive, injury-free training, but his years in the Corps combined with his non-ironic addiction to “Kill Cliff” energy drinks fuel a poorly-concealed disdain for hippies, people that fail to stay in shape, and general weakness. Cliff is probably not the best person to train with if you don’t want to be called a “special snowflake” or some combination of swear word plus “tard” when you make a mistake. However, for the rest of us, Cliff’s priceless real world experience, humor, and colorful language with SoCal surfer-boy delivery, make every course he conducts a tactical treat. These truths, combined with the fact that he may actually be Nathan’s spirit animal, make him a treasured member of the Borderland Training team, and his ability to make you tactically proficient is matched only by his genuine concern for our men that put themselves in harm’s way.

DEVIN has a professional training background that spans 3 decades specifically in the area of personal security, combative tactics and self defense. 18 year veteran of Law enforcement (6 Reserve and 12 full-time). Areas of expertise include: research and practice of combative skills, behavior based tactics for Military and Law enforcement, empty hand/edged weapons and gunfighting training programs for govt. and qualified civilian personnel. Concealed Carry instruction and High Risk Environment Training for Military Special Operations and Faith based Mission groups. Devin is the owner of In Extremis Tactical Group LLC and was fundamentally involved in the development of the High Threat CQB method taught by Trevor Thrasher and High Threat Systems LLC and has personally instructed hundreds of Law Enforcement and military US/Foreign Allies personnel, agencies and units in this method of Close Quarters Battle.
Devin is well versed in Western WW 2 Era W.E. Fairbairn and E.A. Sykes Combative methodologies and tactics, advanced marksmanship and extensive scenario based Force on Force training.
Devin has worked both domestically and abroad, specifically South America, North Africa and the Middle East on training and protection assignments and is considered a US State Department (Subject Matter Expert-SME) conducting pre deployment training for personnel deploying to Haiti, Bosnia, Afghanistan and other High Risk areas. Devin currently serves on as a Full-time police officer with the City of Omaha where he is assigned to the Training Academy. Duties include The Omaha Police Dept. Lead Firearms Coordinator. Every man speaks easily about the things he hates; try getting him to speak deeply about the things he loves, and he hesitates. He becomes a jug filled with raw words inside a body of silence, and that cracked vessel will spill nothing. Before he left home, life was poetry and filled with song. When he returned it was a shame to think of such things. The world over are many men who dream of home. Paul Simon sang about it in his song Homeward Bound. In Biblical history Moses and his people spent 40 years searching for it. The idea of where home is or where home was never leaves us. We may feel out of touch at times as if there isn’t a place for us but even in our transitions there are locations. In the book a Soldier's Home by Ernest Hemingway the story is about Harold Krebs. Krebs returns home to Oklahoma after seeing action in some of the bloodiest battles of WW1. His family and friends treat him as they did before he left for war. No one understands him or the stories he tells. He is disconnected. Home is not home. He is depressed or suffers from PTSD. He is a stranger in a strange land. His story is not unknown to many who serve in today’s modern military. For men like Krebs to exist they need to forget everything they are in order to survive. But for men like Krebs to live, they must be courageous and not live a lie. It is not better for the hero to live falsely. He must live openly for his wounds to heal or he will not have peace at home or abroad. Krebs must go forward regardless of how painful he believes it is. Men must have a refuge.

You must work to stay connected in order to combat your loneliness and social isolation. You might not get what you want out of your relationships but sometimes you can get what you need. Don’t shut down relationships, just find your kind of people. Also, start looking at meeting your own needs. Lastly, be patient.

I catch up with Dale. We discuss his family, life and his new book. Dale wrote on his social media page, "THE TERRORISTS' TERRORIST: Several years ago I was asked by a former employer to join a mercenary strike team and be his strategic advisor. The team consisted of eleven mercenaries - Americans, Iranians, Pols, Colombians, French Foreign Legionnaires, and Israelis. The mission was to provide a special operations capability to a foreign army that was in alignment with US foreign policy. Specifically our job was to kill high value targets (terrorists heads and financiers). The target deck included ISIS, AQAP (Al Qaida Arabic Peninsula, Iranian backed Houthies, and their financiers the Muslim Brotherhood). My job was to command operations, training, planning, and execution of strike missions on targets. This was by far the highlight of my 35+ year military career. My first mission consisted of me and four others taking out an HVT and his security detail in downtown Aden Yemen one night. The weapon of choice was an IED that I built specifically for him. The result was a firefight with one member of our team getting shot upon exiting our vehicle and several AQ KIAs to include the target's security detail. This is just a peak into my upcoming book that will tell stories about my exploits after I wrote my book American Badass in 2011-2012. The stories that you will read about include rescuing Americans from "velvet cages" in the Middle East, Hunting Iranian criminals from Singapore to Turkey, Bodyguard work in LA, and more. In addition The book will be interwoven with teachings about mind-set, optimal performance, and what it takes to think like and become the best version of you."

Ernest

I swear, gentleman, thinking like a victim is a weakness and therefore an illness all men should avoid.

The life of author Ernest Hemingway continues to intrigue people. His protagonists seemed to simply exist in the best way that they knew how; dealing with loss, the fear of loss, or its aftermath particularly after experiencing violence or the death of someone.

In the short-story In Another Country the character called the Major noted that a man mustn’t affix himself to something that he can lose.

Some men pare their life down to the basics; only to things they believe they have some control over; they don’t want to lose something because they were tricked or duped, or worse injured or killed from a lack of foresight; like his character Jake Barnes,

Hemingway believed that the best a man could ever do, although he was beaten, was believe that he wasn’t defeated.

What man ever chooses to be a victim? Is that not better than to throw yourself onto a fire to the mad gods and hope the sacrifice of your life influences them to create better men of the future? Today, do all that you can to work through mistakes and any feeling of loss, shame or embarrassment. Read In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway.

Today, take ownership and responsibility for your own needs and wants.
Focus on helping others, when able.
Stop blaming people.
Practice being grateful.

None of us want to live a stale life and sometimes all of us get stuck for more than a minute or two.

Six minutes is more than enough time to take the opportunity to accept future responsibilities and follow through by doing them. Those of us who lose our way can get back on track in less than six minutes or not. We live, we struggle, we die and then we can fade into obscurity or we can attempt to inspire those around us.

I speak with Garrick about a lot. Mask mandates, woke culture and more. In his own words, "I'm retired military and spent 20 years in the US Navy. I was a member of SEAL Teams Three and Five as well as the Naval Special Warfare Center (NSWC) where I did a tour as a SEAL instructor. I taught firearms, tactic's and explosives on basic and advanced levels to other SEAL team members. During this time I also became certified as a Master Training Specialist. After completing my tour at NSWC I returned to SEAL Team Three and deployed to Iraq. In summary, I completed 6 over sea's deployments to South East Asia and the Middle East. After leaving military service I began contracting for the CIA performing a position depicted in the movie 13 Hours In Benghazi. I did this work for 7 years, completing approximately 1000 clandestine operations; In the process, I became relied upon as a tactical operations expert for the country of Afghanistan. In 2014, I was awarded the Agency Seal Medal for my role during a hostile attack on CIA personnel. In 2015, I started a company known as Red Frog. Initially, I provided Active Shooter response solutions for schools and law enforcement officers. In 2016, my focus transitioned to soley providing tactical training for law enforcement tactical teams conducting seminars, force-on-force and live fire training. In 2017, I also began training military and civilians in basic and advanced use of firearms. During this time I also periodically performed private security work. In 2020, I started a new company known as High Value Target LLC. A new training paradigm was created based upon principals consistent with modern neuroscience and what science has uncovered about how we learn and react under extreme stress. The 3D targets are advanced training aides which significantly enhance the quality of training."

I talk with Tom Scheuman and discuss his book Always Faithful. Maj Thomas Schueman is a Marine Corps infantry officer and deployed as a platoon commander with Kilo Company of 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment to the Sangin Valley in 2010. They had 25 men lost, and nearly 200 injured. Schueman taught English at the United States Naval Academy and manages the Instagram page @kill.z0n3

Always Faithful: Band of Brothers meets Argo in this dramatic and heartfelt dual memoir of the war in Afghanistan told by two men from opposite worlds. Always Faithful entwines the stories of Marine Major Tom Schueman, and his friend and Afghan interpreter, Zainullah “Zak” Zaki, as they describe their parallel lives, converging paths, and unbreakable bond in the face of overwhelming danger, culminating in Zak and his family’s harrowing escape from Kabul. In August of 2021, just days shy of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, America ended its longest war. The speed of the Afghanistan’s fall was so stunning that thousands of Afghan citizens who had helped American forces over the course of two decades—and had been promised visas in return—were suddenly stranded, in extreme, imminent danger. As the world watched the shocking scenes of desperation at the Kabul airport in the final two weeks of August, Maj. Tom Schueman fought—both behind the scenes and through a social media campaign—to get his friend and former Afghan interpreter, Zak, out of Afghanistan before he and his family were discovered by the Taliban. When Zak and his family finally took off from the airport mere days before the US left the country, the years-long effort to get Zak to America culminated in two simple words on Instagram: “Wheels up.” Now in Always Faithful, Tom and Zak tell the full story of the divergent paths that led them to Afghanistan, the dangerous road they walked together in service to America, and how their commitment to each other ended up saving them both. Brilliantly told in Tom’s and Zak’s alternating first person voices, Always Faithful tracks the parallel lives of these two men who each spent their childhoods in fear, peril, and poverty, and turned to war in attempt to build a meaningful future. On an inevitable course towards each other, their lives dovetail in Afghanistan’s deadly Helmand Valley, where they formed a brotherhood that transcends even the most overwhelming of odds, eventually culminating in Zak’s harrowing, eleventh-hour rescue. The end result is an intensely personal and uniquely ground-level account of Tom and Zak’s experience, Always Faithful gives readers a 360-degree view of the war. At once provocative and heart pounding, their stories together form a microcosm of the complicated and lasting effects of America’s longest war. Through their eyes and their experiences, they challenge readers to explore the legacy of the war for American and Afghan citizens alike, as we all collectively seek to understand whether twenty years of war was worth the price.

Michael Kurcina is the Founder of Spotter Up, a tactical gear website that doubles as an immense resource of information, reviews, articles, and podcasts featuring former or active-duty members of the Special Operations community, master-level shooters, special agents, case officers, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts who share their knowledge on everything from guns and ammo, to prepping and Survival, martial arts, Fitness, Nutrition, and Health. Michael is also the author of “We Fight Monsters: Wisdom and inspiration that speak to the warrior’s soul.”

In this episode of The Alpha Human Podcast, Michael Kurcina and Lawrence Rosenberg delve into his journey as the son of a brilliant Engineer who worked with the CIA during the Vietnam War and a Vietnamese woman from a small village who left the country before the fall of Saigon to grow up in San Jose immersed in books and fighting as a kid searching for meaning.

As Michael grew into a young man, he became a warrior looking for a war, fueled by violence and an intense need to test his mettle, brawling in bars and on a path to prison, he would eventually rise from being broke and jobless to reenlisting in the military at age 39, two decades after an injury ended his short career with the Marines.

We delve deep into Michael’s book “We Fight Monsters” a journey into his musings on what it means to be a man and face death, fear, love, war, as well as how to be free, how to dare, and how to be reborn, as seen through the eyes of his journey of self-discovery. Along the way we discuss Michael’s views on why cultural elites and “intellectual doubters” seem to be bent on destroying what it means to be a man, fomenting a self-hating, weak society – why men aspire to be Gods and are often plagued by anger, and how we can use the “seeds of pain” born of the trauma wrought by violence, grief and hate to build a positive and rewarding life.

We also discuss the genesis of Michael’s vision for Spotter Up as a source of knowledge and wisdom for those who much like himself are part Man of Action, Man of Intellect, Man of Emotion, and Man of Spirit (gunfighter, writer, wildman, and monk), and who through dedication to the Whole Man Concept of Paideia and Michael’s Chessman ideal, can find their way to the top of the mountain that we all envision surmounting.

Join me on YouTube live as I speak with Ryan. Show is Sunday July 11, 2pm EST. Ryan Hendrickson is a Special Forces Engineer in the U.S. Army. Ryan transferred over to the Army in 2008 after completing enlistments in both the Navy and Air Force. Ryan has many military deployments including Iraq, Afghanistan, and several South and Central American countries. Ryan’s decorations include the Silver Star, four Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and an Army Commendation Medal with Valor. When not abroad, he calls Florida home.

About the BookSergeant First Class (SFC) Ryan Hendrickson is a brave, determined, and courageous soldier — a Green Beret clearing the way for his twelve-man team while conducting combat operations against the Taliban.

Join me as I speak with Peter Blaber. We are going to discuss his new book set to hit stores this summer, entitled The Common Sense Way, A New Way to Think About Leading and Organizing. The book discusses some of the key lessons that Blaber learned as a leader in the military, and how he’s incorporated this method into his time as a businessman in recent years.

Peter will also focus on is his armored vehicle business, AddArmor. AddArmor uses groundbreaking lightweight armoring technology to protect vehicles of all makes and models, with different armoring levels and amenities available based on customer need. As a commander of Delta Force-the most elite counter—terrorist organization in the world—Pete Blaber took part in some of the most dangerous, controversial, and significant military and political events of our time. Now he takes his intimate knowledge of warfare—and the heart, mind, and spirit it takes to win—and moves his focus from the combat zone to civilian life.

Additonal: Pete Blaber commanded at every level of one of the most elite counter-terrorist organizations in the world during most of recent history’s most significant military and political events (Panama, Colombia, Somalia, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq). In 2006 he retired from the military and transitioned from leading elite combat teams around the globe, to leading elite corporate teams for one of the world’s largest and most innovative Biotechnology Companies.

“After 21 years of using the term ‘common sense’ to describe the way I lived and led in the military, this was the first time I actually paused to ponder what ‘common sense’ actually is and why people seem to recognize, respond to, and appreciate ‘common sense leadership’ whenever they experience it. I didn’t have to look far to find the answer. The answer is both all around and inside us. It’s not political, or religious, or philosophic. It’s biologic. Biology reveals that life always finds a way. It’s the “Common Sense Way.” In 2015 I left my job as a Biotechnology executive to write this book.

“In 2018, while still working on this book, I decided it was time to pressure test the “Common Sense Way” in the living laboratory of real-world experience, so I started an international company that adds armor protection to any type of vehicle (e.g. cars, trucks, vans, buses, etc.). The idea behind Adding Armor is to create a “Mobile Safe-Room” that protects the vehicle’s passengers from would be attackers (criminals, terrorists, active shooters, and anarchists) while also providing “peace of mind” that cannot be attained in an unarmored vehicle. In today’s world, adding armor to protect your family, friends, and colleagues is common sense. It’s the ‘Common Sense Way’”.

Pete was born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois. He has an MBA and an MS in National Security and Strategic Affairs.
