On Tuesday, Crown Princess Mary took part in a roundtable discussion with Maternity Foundation and UNFPA to discuss the latest global figures for maternal mortality. Crown Princess Mary said: “It was sad and frustrating to learn that the numbers - despite some positive progress - are not far off from the numbers I was faced with in 2008. It's hard to understand when in the vast majority of cases these types of deaths can be prevented and avoided.”

On Thursday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited the Province of Hainaut where they visited the largest limestone ornamental stone quarry in Europe as well as Le Quinquet, a socio-professional integration center which offers training in areas as varied as carpentry, cooking or gardening.
